KJV 2 Peter 3 doesn't say anything about the current heavens and earth being renewed by fire. What does this response have to do with anything that I said?
Ugh. The context of 2 Peter 3:13 is seen from the preceding verses which speak of the dissolving and burning up of the current heavens and earth. So, clearly, Peter did not have our bodies in mind there, but rather was talking about the current heavens and earth being renewed by fire, resulting in the new heavens and new earth.
Destroyed by fire? Yes.
Renewed by fire? No.
In fact, in the KJV NT., the word "renewed" has no such application as you imply. Please see Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 4:16; Eph. 4:23; Col. 3:10.
Since 2 Peter 3:13 does reveal that [God's] righteousness has a distinct designation, as to "where-IN" it shall dwell, I should say that for all who are born again of the Holy Spirit, His dwelling within our EARTH-en vessels is paramount to being the ONLY answer, as to what exactly it is that shall be "Renewed".
It appears that I must ask the question again:
Where does God and His righteousness seek to dwell?
1. ON this present planet earth?
2. IN our earthen vessels created from this earth?
Edit:
For the context of how/why the Holy Spirt within me is explaining His reasoning in this post, please review posts #96, 97 and 99.
