According to the second commandment that's what we all should be doing

The logic of your reflection on the incident might sink in - with others; it isn’t lost on me - after the emotional dust settles.

2Co 6:16
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Do you think the statue of Jesus is an idol?

Eze 14:1
Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.
Eze 14:2
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Eze 14:3
Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
Eze 14:4
Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
Eze 14:5
That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
Eze 14:6
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
Eze 14:7
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:
Eze 14:8
And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

2Co 5:16
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

Luk 24:6
He is not here, but is risen:

Heb 6:4
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Sin died on the cross. Our sin died on the cross.
Why do we think it's a good idea to remind us of Sin that God has washed away?

You think Jesus rather be honored in death or in eternal life?

If that were you nailed to the cross would you want people gawking at you all the time?
It was a horrible thing they did to an innocent man.
Why do people worship someone being killed?

But then again... here we are.
This world is insane.

Jhn 4:23
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

The idol is neither spirit nor truth.

Do you approve of the unbelieving Jew smashing the statue? Do you think his punishment by the Israeli military is unjustified?

Would you endorse a believers crusade to destroy all such statues, wherever they exist in the world / churches / private homes?

Somebody broke something.

You remember what God had Moses do to the serpent on the pole?
Should Moses be punished?

Somebody broke something.

An unbelieving Jewish soldier intentionally broke a statue of Jesus. The Christian community worldwide was, for the most part, upset by the incident and outspoken in its criticism.

Yes.

Should Moses be punished?

No.

Do you think God told the unbelieving Jewish soldier to destroy the statue?

People are going to do what they are going to do.
If they believe in statues, that those statues have any saving grace in and of themselves, then by all means let them follow after folly.

Listen:
1Co 10:18
Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
1Co 10:19
What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
1Co 10:20
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

Rev 22:10
And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
Rev 22:11
He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
Rev 22:12
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

I don't need to endorse destruction, God will take care of that.

No.

I'm not in that soldiers head, but knowing the times we are in, I would take a wild guess and say he did it out of spite.
Lot of news coming out of Jerusalem against Christians visiting the area.
I wouldn't condone or condemn someone breaking a statue of Moses or Mohamad.
They will have to answer for their own actions.

Actions have consequences.

I don't need to endorse destruction, God will take care of that.

That resonates with me.

The so called "Christian community" is offended by a lot of things.
The hypocrisy is thick out there brother.
Sometimes people do things just to get a response and start problems.
Why indulge them?

Do you think his punishment by the Israeli military is unjustified?
Well, whether it has anything to do with the statue itself, destruction of property is usually a civil criminal offence.
So whether the military punished him for religious reasons or not...
I suppose it depends on what the law is in Israel against destroying other peoples property.

Is Destruction of Property Against the Law in Israel?

Under international law, the destruction of property is generally prohibited unless it is absolutely necessary for military operations. The Fourth Geneva Convention (1949), which applies to occupied territories, explicitly bans collective punishment and the destruction of private property belonging to protected persons, except in cases where the property is used for hostile acts against the occupying power metropolitandigital.com. This means that deliberate demolition of homes or other property of individuals or groups — especially in retaliation for crimes committed by some members — is considered collective punishment, which is illegal under international humanitarian law metropolitandigital.com.

I don't suppose it was a military operation. However, some may find a statue of Jesus in a non-Christian country a hostile act against their religion.

The world is a crazy place brother.

Does “Israeli soldier smashes a statue of Jesus” = “Israeli soldier smashes Jesus”?

Would an unbelieving Jew smash Jesus if he or she could?
Not everyone is the same. Some Jews out of respect for others feelings might not do it even if it was lawful.
And there are some people that do things just to be mean.

“The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the authenticity of a photo showing a soldier in Southern Lebanon smashing a statue of Jesus with a slegehammer ...”

What are your thoughts about that?
I think this serves as a reminder that the aims of the state of Israel are not necessarily aligned with the aims of Messiah Jesus. There seems to be a conflation of the two here in American political thought.
