There are many lessons to be learned from Jesus' parable of the sower in Matthew chapter 13. And it is easy to see and understand Jesus speaking of different percentages of profit unto the kingdom that come from His words falling on good soil. But hearing and seeing--did you notice that those percentages chronologically--diminish and become smaller and smaller?

Which He did repeatedly saying: "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Three or more times in the gospels, and then again seven times in the book of Revelation. Only in the book of Revelation He actually says, what to hear: "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

To help us understand the "point" that you are making, here is the Matthew 13 portion of the referenced scripture.

It is my view that the "profit" returned in each case is not the point, but rather that the seed scattered produced a head of seed to be gathered. The parable speaks of a place in time when the ground conditions are right for the seed to be scattered which will result in a great harvest of souls.

The parable is not about how profitable each seed is, but rather that each seed planted produced more seed/souls for the kingdom of God.

Greetings Jay Ross,
The parable is not about how profitable each seed is, but rather that each seed planted produced more seed/souls for the kingdom of God.
I prefer the concept that it is speaking about the individual's response to the preaching and words of Jesus, the quality and strength of the individual's faith and his resultant character, the fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-24, not how many converts he makes. Each category speaks about the individual's response or lack of a true response to the word preached.

Kind regards
Trevor

Thanks! Still, I should think none of the words are without a point. I am sure if a profit without regard to enumeration were the only point, He would not have been specific.

Yes, I see it even as a general circumstance or fading of words handed down from generation to generation.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your point, but even as we see a fading of Scriptural understanding from the time of the apostles, haven't we also seen a restoration in understanding of God's Word beginning with the Reformation?

Those are all a part, but the strongest is the "delusion" of foretold "false teachers" and their "destructive heresies" and the believing of a "lie."

Under that mix--let alone fallen human nature--yes, all has been fading. Which does not mean God's word returns void, but that we the gentiles and the church have come to the fruits of our own devises, not unlike Israel before us.

Then how do you explain the explosion of souls being saved in South America, Asia, middle east?

Yes america and Europe only have gleanings left, but the gospel is getting great reponse in other areas of the world.

Please tell us which destructive heresies you are claiming.

The explosions you speak of only multiplies what is taught, often taught incorrectly according to the false teachings of false teachers since the first century. Unfortunate. Which is not to say there is no harvest, but many are robbed of all truth as promised.

I have a thought.... Look at the Soil! Do you in this parable of the sower... actually have a say in what soil you are given??? Could this apply to you? If not why?

Mar 4:12 so that WHILE SEEING, THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE, AND WHILE HEARING, THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND, OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT RETURN AND BE FORGIVEN."

I referred to the scriptures. If you don't know well enough to recognize that, you speak against the truth I have quoted. But, sure, many are heaven bound in spite of false teachings--I said that.

I can see what you are saying and I agree.
The elect will be a minority among the global Church (the 100 fold) ... with a diminishing return from the seed sown (Word). Do you think this is a matter of what the individual accepts, or what the individual is shown (revelation)?

And yet you are not of enough character to list these false teachings in an easy list

One of the things that people who read the bible but really dont study it always fail to notice about Matt 13.... "seed and ground"..parable.

is this..

"""JESUS answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you (the Jews) to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given......""

Notice that Jesus is talking to the JEWS about the Kingdom of Heaven?
So, that is the same as John the (JEW) Baptist talking about Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven.
And that is because it was on the Earth......
That's Jesus.

Whereas..

When we are dealing with unsaved sinners, or the Body of Christ.........we instruct them about the Kingdom of GOD.......that Jesus said is "within you".
So, that's different.
Its a Different Gospel, also.

I am not sure I am getting your point.

But rather than Jesus saying "It is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom..." to the Jews, He was speaking to those following Him...as a-light-upon-a-hill lesson to everyone, regarding the math involved. While He demonstrated "seed" and yield diminishing, He was speaking to the 12 who would produce 12x12x1000 (144,000), to the contrary. In other words, a general seeding of this world had little hope of a good harvest, while Him sending out the chosen would produce a great harvest by comparison.

Once again, you add your own opinion to the scripture, rather than letting scripture speak for itself.

There is no indication that the hundredfold, sixtyfold, thirty fold are chronological. Time is not an element.

Different seeds and types of good soil are what bring forth different percentages of profit.

Matthew 13:8

But other seed fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

Yes indeed my friend , and let us stay dug in the scriptures like a seed tick on a red bone hound dog .
Now to the trenches one and all .
