The former has happened; the latter might happen. If the latter does happen, my faith (and my witness) will be severely tested. Will I suffer and die for my faith? You pointed out to me that the apostles did.

But we know that he isn’t different. What is different is that the new creation has begun with the coming of the Messiah, and with that, a new way of living. (The life man was intended to live from the beginning.)

The Messiah has commanded us to live as he modeled it until he returns.

Something changes in the way his followers live when he returns. There is a piece of unfinished business, as it were. Think David.

We have already covered and agreed on the content of the OP video. But this is another aspect, granted, invited by the OP commentary.

Yes, of course we are to love our enemy as Christ has said. But we ought not mix the two as the OP has done, for Christ did not mean there is not "A time of war, and a time of peace." But rather that in spite of times of wars (or other seemingly harsh or firm behavior) we ought to love even our enemies.

Which then, if we are to rightly separate the two and speak specifically of being firm in harsh or unwelcome circumstances--indeed we ought to stand firm as if in battle against the forces of evil. This type of response is not to be taken from a man of God, but is given to a man of God to defend himself and his family and all that God has put under his care. Which things one ought not to love, but to hate and even kill, remembering that God himself in spite of desiring that all men would be saved, has take up a war against evil unto death--putting to death all that is against His better nature--which is indeed to love.

I appears that you are mixing the forces of good and evil with the forces of God among us.

We ought always stand against evil. Even so, God has at various times sent opposing forces of evil against the people of God that cannot ourselves overcome. Such was the case of the Roman Empire's persecution, etc. of Christians, which was on the heels of Christ crucified (even unto the third and forth generation).

Likewise, God was and is likely and rightly to send overwhelming forces against us, for Israel rejected Christ in the flesh, but Christendom has rejected Christ in spirit.
