You are very confused here. Only the saints enter into the kingdom realm in this life. But the righteous INHERIT the kingdom in the next age. They are the saved of the nations. The saints inherit GLORY and live in the holy city...ruling over the nations of the righteous.
You are NOT understanding the question so I'll try another way.
Who ENTERS eternal life/joy , the SAVED or the UNsaved ?
James was writing to the Israel of God, not unbelieving Israel after the flesh. Believing Gentiles have been grafted into the Israel of God.
I would say that seeking to establish our own righteousness is performance. But submitting to the righteousness of Christ in us is not performance....it is His genuine righteousness being manifested. We are told to put off the old man and put on the new. Mortify the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit. And we are told to run the race lawfully if we are to receive the prize.......otherwise be disqualified.

You mentioned the wedding feast and a wider group who are guests. You've been implying there are degrees of eternal salvation and judgements. Do you mind explaining that a bit more?
My husband and I have found that just by believing we can stop sinning, it's a lot easier to stop. I agree that modern churches have turned grace into a license to sin.

All the ways of God are MERCY and TRUTH. I think this phrase is repeated 23 times in the bible.
As such there are two levels of judgment. Like the goodness AND severity of God that Paul speaks of.
The easier judgment is according to mercy. If we are merciful then we will receive mercy. But for that we need to be humble and not judge others from ourselves.
The severity of God's judgment is according to truth. People who CLAIM to know the truth but instead spread lies, will be dealt with SEVERELY by God....hence the "severity" of God.
So which is the best judgment for us? It depends on the level of our real connection to God. Mercy on the guests and glory (truth) for the saints.
If we are into God's word and think on Him during the day...we can avoid MOST sin. It depends on how much we are tested. But only by entering into Christ do we experience His power and perfection. :)

The time to enter into the heavenly realm is now. To be spiritual in Christ means to enter into the kingdom realm to be where He is....and to ABIDE in Him.

1) Then being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2) through whom also we have had access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we glory on the hope of the glory of God.
In the same faith by which we are saved.

Yes, this.
The Bible sometimes uses the word 'heaven' as a placeholder where it means 'God.' The Jews don't like to say His name so they use other words like Adonai or Ouranos.
What is meant is not flying away into outer space, but unity with God.
