Hi, Douggg, good to catch up with you again.

The toes of the image are still to take form. They are not the European nations.

A key point is the identity of the legs. The fourth kingdom is not identified in any place in Daniel, nor any place in the Bible, for that matter. We are told that Rome was in power over Israel during the events of the New Testament, but there are 2 problems thay come from naming the legs Rome.

First, the division of the thighs happens during the Greek kingdom, so that by the start of the iron kingdom, the world government is already divided in two. Rome was united under Caesar. There must have been another kingdom sharing global governance. I think we see it after the birth of Jesus when the wise men from the east appear and cause a disturbance because they were not under Caesar's authority. I think it was the Parthian empire.

Next, as was discussed above, Rome faded out and collapsed around the fifth century. Christ's kingdom still has not come, so the legs are supposed to have faded away, to be reconstituted in the end times. That is a strange situation, where we are forced to invent something not revealed on the vision.

If we refrain from naming the iron legs, then we can be open to the possibility that the 2-part iron kingdom has had several names, starting with Rome and Parthia, then trading off to others, in recent years becoming the U.S.A. and Russia.

The ten final kings are then most likely to be looked for as coming from the final two world powers, presumably 5 from each. Do we have any indication that the ten kings are NOT from a revived Roman empire in Europe? Yes.

Revelation 16:12 says that the Euphrates River is to be dried up to make way for the kings of the east to arrive at Armageddon. That means that at least 2 of the final 10 kings are to be bringing their armies from east of the Euphrates.

Due to the feet representing weak, non-cohesive government, I think that we are clearly in the feet. The final names of the feet seem to me to be Russia and China. I don't think they will last long, maybe 100 years? Then the Beast will come on the scene and take out 3 challengers and the ten final kings will reign a short time with the Beast. That is what I am thinking and watching.

In Daniel 2, God identified the 4 metal kingdoms in His plan of salvation and restoration for His people and mankind. The four kingdoms are quite easily identified (IMO), as:

1) Gold - Babylon,

2) Silver - Medes- Persia,

3) Bronze - Greece,

4) Iron - Rome

Now, we easily can see that God's 4 kingdoms are all constructer of a different metal type.

But within the 4th iron kingdom of Rome, He places a non-metallic element within the feet of this kingdom - clay. And certainly, we all know that clay and any metal does not combine.

In the beginning of chapter 7, God gives us a new set of symbols for these same 4 kingdoms, but now we notice there has been some significant changes, apart from the different symbol, to the iron kingdom. Now, we see an unidentifiable 4th beast kingdom with 10 horns coming out of it. No more mention of the clay and no more mention of the 10 toes.

So what happend to the 10 toes?
Ten toes are 10 Middle-Eastern countries that will make an agreement with the beast to be at peace with Israel.

First, the division of the thighs happens during the Greek kingdom, so that by the start of the iron kingdom, the world government is already divided in two. Rome was united under Caesar. There must have been another kingdom sharing global governance.
The vision of the two thighs following the Greek kingdom were the Roman Republic which then became the Roman Empire under the Caesars. This is why Daniel's fourth "dreadful and terrible" kingdom in Daniel 7:7 (following the Greek "leopard" kingdom) was described as being "diverse from all the beasts that were before it". All the other kingdoms (Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Greek) were established from the beginning solely by a series of monarchs reigning over that kingdom. Rome was different in that it was originally established as a Republic with a Senate for leadership, and only later on did the Caesars become part of that Roman Beast "iron" kingdom.

The "clay" kingdom merging with the "iron" of the Roman Republic was the independent kingdom of Israel (which the Maccabean victories had maintained for almost 80 years). This independent kingdom of Israelite "clay" became subjugated under Roman control by Pompey in 63 BC, with client kings in Judea being set up who would cooperate with Rome (Herod, etc.). It was an unstable blend of Roman "iron" and Israelite "clay", which was not going to last for long. We know that the "clay" was connected with the ancient nation of Israel, because the prophet Isaiah 64:8 announced quite plainly regarding his own people, "But now, O Lord, thou art our father; WE ARE THE CLAY, and thou our potter..."

The ten toes made of iron and clay in the feet portion of Daniel's statue were part of the revived independent nation of Israel which the AD 66 Zealot uprising against Rome re-established once again. At the beginning of this Zealot rebellion in AD 66, TEN GENERALS were selected in Jerusalem at one time, in order to prepare the various districts for the anticipated war with Rome. Josephus in Wars 2.20.3-4 names all TEN GENERALS who had no crowns, but reigned as if they were kings (Rev. 17:12-13). These ten generals were united and "gave their power" to this revived Scarlet Beast of an independent kingdom of Israel. They only "received power as kings one hour with the Beast", because that AD 66 Zealot rebellion was soon to be crushed by the close of AD 70. All ten toes of the ten generals lost their power, and the power of the "holy people" was also shattered at that time, just as Daniel 12:7 had predicted.

This is the language which Revelation 17:8 uses with regard to the history of the Judean Scarlet Beast (same as the "clay" kingdom), which represented the independent kingdom of Israel. The "clay" of the Scarlet Beast once "WAS" (during the independent period established by the Maccabees), then it "IS NOT" (after Pompey had subjugated Israel to Rome in 63 BC), then it was "about to rise out of the abyss" (in the AD 66 Zealot rebellion), "and go into destruction" (soon after in AD 70 when Rome destroyed that Scarlet Beast).

Those ten toes on Daniel's statue are ancient history - struck down and destroyed long ago by the single blow given by Christ the "stone" kingdom, which has continued to grow in size ever since then.

It was "in the days of these kings" (the "iron" kings of ancient Rome and the "clay" kings of ancient Israel) in which the God of heaven would set up His own stone kingdom, which shall last forever. This is why in AD 30 (Mark 1:15) that Christ announced, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is AT HAND: repent ye and believe the gospel." Christ was even then already setting up His own stone kingdom back "in the days of these kings". His kingdom will never be left to another people, but it broke in pieces all those former kingdoms and it will stand forever (Daniel 2:44).

Thanks for your response William. If you do not mind, let me ask you a few questions that might lead you into a new and very different series of interpretations:

1) Most importantly is that the Book of Daniel is written for His people and His city - the Jews and Jerusalem. Not today’s people and city but those that were captive in Babylon and would be restored back in Jerusalem.

2) God would design the Book of Daniel to show how His people would be taken captive, then be allowed to return and then both they and their city would be completely restored as they move through the 4 kingdoms and time.

3) And everything in Daniel is meant to reveal those events and prophecies so that by the end of the 483 years of the most important prophecy in the Bible, everything that was destroyed or taken away by the Babylonians was fully restored as it was prior to the destruction. And that is most of what Daniel is all about- everything is presented to lead up to His arrival on the first day of the 70th week.

4) So Daniel is not about secular kingdoms or kings or conflicts among men, it is a story about restoration for His people and His city to prepare both to receive Him. And if you notice, the complete restoration of everything destroyed or taken away by the Babylonians were restored in exactly the reverse order they were destroyed.

5) Now, what was the very first thing that was taken away? It was the Ark of the covenant by Jeremiah to safeguard it from the Babylonians. It would never be seen again- purposely! Because The Messiah would come after everything was already restored- He was the presence of God restored in the Sanctuary- not a wooden box covered by gold. He was the final piece of furniture restored in the last week of the prophecy.

6) So, as you can see, most of Daniel so far - by the time we get to chapter 9 is all about this restoration period and those events between 606 BC and 27 AD. It is all about the coming Messiah and His plan to restore His people, His city and all mankind. It is His plan of salvation!

7) God merely uses these 4 kingdoms as a formal structure to reveal all of these events that will take place during this restoration period. They are not the story, they house the story. But everyone focuses on the 4 kingdoms, kings and conflicts among men. They focus almost exclusively on secular events, history, etc.

8) So, if Daniel is all about God’s plan of salvation for mankind, then we should expect or look at His many symbols in a non- secular manner. He is not interested in the EU, or 10 European nations, etc. Remember the purpose AND the timing of Daniel- not a prophecy about the end times or today’s world but the time of His first arrival.

9) Therefore, when the Stone in 2:34 first struck the feet of iron and clay, what do you think God was revealing to us? We know how God designed each of the 4 AND ONLY 4 kingdoms- all METALS. And Rome was the 4th and final kingdom of iron (not a kingdom of iron and clay- Rome did not share its kingdom with anyone). God was showing us the clay that n the iron feet was His people, the Jews held captive within the Roman Empire AT THE TIME OF HIS ARRIVAL.

10) Therefore Stone, Jesus, represented His first coming where He would symbolically strike and SEPARATE (not destroy) the clay from the iron. This would symbolically separate those Jews who would accept Him as their Messiah (Pottery clay) from those of His people that would reject Him (ceramic or miry clay).

11) After the cross (striking of the feet), the Pottery clay would go out into the Empire and preach the Word of God and the Testimony of Jesus. (BTW, verse 2:35 is His return at the time of the end).

12) So, if the clay in chapter 2 represents His people and then after the strike and separation those Jews who accepted Jesus as their Messiah went out into the world what do you think the 10 toes must represent? Remember, these symbols are all about God’s plan of salvation not a recap of our history involving secular kingdoms and wars.

Let me know what you think!!!

The Roman empire ruled the Middle East in times past. They killed the Messiah, which was part of God's plan (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus paid the penalty for believers (John 3:16).

o. I think the iron/clay are both ascribed to the sixth kingdom (Rome).
o. I think there will be an "antichrist," coming-ruler in Jerusalem.
o. I think that time will complete the sixth kingdom.
o. I think the seventh kingdom is the millennial kingdom.
o. After that, new heavens and new earth. Finally!

"At hand" does not mean that it started then. It means that it was ready to start. When the people rejected the kingdom of God, Jesus told them in Luke 19 that their house was left desolate. The kingdom of God will be fulfilled and there will not be a desolate house in it.

"At hand" does not mean that it started then. It means that it was ready to start.
"AT HAND" in Scripture means something is already presently in place in the context. Christ was then announcing that "the kingdom of God is AMONG YOU", because He Himself as the monarch of that kingdom of God was then presently standing among them. Jesus was announcing Himself as the fulfillment of "Messiah the Prince" which Daniel 9:25's 490-year timeline predicted would be manifested in AD 30 - at the beginning of the last 70th "week" of years.

"At hand" in scripture or its verb form (Strong's #1451, 1448) NEVER means already presently in place. It ALWAYS is translated in the KJV as nigh, ready, approach, or come near, or similar wordings. Neither does "among you" mean that the kingdom has started. Do not invent things. Stick with what the Bible says.

Here's an example for you. In Mark 14:42 in the Garden of Gethsemane, Christ tells the slumbering disciples, "Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is AT HAND. And immediately, while He yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude..." Judas was already there in the Garden of Gethsemane when Christ spoke those words saying that Judas was "at hand".

God Himself defines what He means for the timing of an "at hand" prophecy in Ezekiel 12:21-28, if you read the entire passage. The timing of an "at hand" prophecy is NOT "prolonged" into "times that are far off". The "at hand" prophecy is not only spoken by God but He would also perform it "in YOUR days" for the ones hearing God's original pronouncement of that prophecy.

This is why Daniel 2 announces that "in the days of THESE KINGS will the God of heaven set up a kingdom..." The days of those particular "kings" were the time when the mingled "iron" empire of ancient Rome combined with the "clay" of the ancient Israelite Scarlet Beast kingdom were operating in conjunction with each other back in Christ's days. "We have no king but Caesar" was the Jerusalem priesthood's clear statement that it was then working hand-in-glove with the kings of ancient Rome to preserve their own financial prosperity as well as their place and their nation.

Christ had a kingdom already back then. Just as Pilate asked Christ, "Are you a king then?", and Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world". In other words, by this statement, Christ was claiming that He already was the king of His kingdom in those days, but His authority as that King was not derived from any governmental entity of this world.

Odd you should say Daniel is not a history book, and then cite history to validate your personal interpretation of it. View attachment 67036
IMO:
"History" (noun) and "historical" (adjective) are of course different forms of same word. The book of Daniel is historical in the sense that Daniel did exist in times past. Such historical information can be handed down by oral tradition, writing, archaeology etc. But the further purpose in prophetic writing is to communicate information that describes a path back to God. Such information will be sought by the wise, but not by forces determined to thwart such restitution (1Peter 5:8).

But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

Fulfilled in Christ at His first coming.

Matthew 21:43
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

Fulfilled by the holy nation of the Church (1 Peter 2:9) established by Christ at His first coming.

Christ preached His realized, not a rejected, kingdom.

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

We seek Christ's realized, not a rejected, kingdom.

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Fulfilled by Christ at His first coming.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Fulfilled through Christ at His first coming.

Hello

In 2003 we saw the ten toes when the Coalition of the Willing invaded the Land of Babylon which was then under the control of Iraq, the fourth segment of the Daniel 2 Statue prophecy.

When Jesus spoke that Judas was at hand, Judas was coming, not was at Jesus' location. In Ezekiel 12, "at hand" also does not mean that the days had arrived, but would be in their days.

Your claims of who the iron and the clay are not from the text. You are still not responding to Jesus' pronouncement that their house was left desolate. If the kingdom had actually started, Jesus would not have been weeping. If the kingdom had started, all other powers would have gone away.

In summary, the kingdom of God came very near, among them, then withdrew because they did not recognize their visitation.

If you have Scripture disproving post 317, then please cite it.
