Again, as David in NJ has demonstrated, this is about rightly dividing the word of truth.
Circle is a two dimensional object, like a coin. A sphere is a three dimensional object, like a ball. Isaiah uses both
words, in two separate places:
He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the
shame of thy lord's house. - Isa. 22:18
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in. - Isa. 40:22
The earth is circular in shape, like a compass:
When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth. - Pro. 8:27
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain. - Isa. 40:22
[The earth] is changed as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment. - Job 38:14
He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end. - Job 26:10
They came round about me like daily water; they compassed me about together. - Psa. 88:17
The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house. - Isa. 44:13
There is a downward “bottomless pit.” This is not possible on a sphere:
And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. - Rev 9:1
And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. - Rev. 9:2
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. - Rev. 9:11
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. - Rev. 11:7
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. - Rev. 17:8
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. - Rev. 20:1
And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. - Rev. 20:3
