Hi GG,
You make very good points. Thank you.
You ask: Were the good works for God?
That's tough. Anyone that can cast out demons in His name and do many mighty works in His name seems like they would be doing it
FOR God. And I suspect
they could not do it WITHOUT God. So I really don't know what to say. Were the works FOR God? I think so.
Mary
Mary,
I'm signing off and I hope I can find this Tomorrow morning!
This is interesting...
Mathew 7:13-23
verses 13-14
Enter thru the narrow gate. Few find the narrow gate. We must enter as God defined the terms, not as some Others may and they will be wrong.
Such as the false Teachers coming up...
verses 15-16
Be careful of false prophets - Teachers. They're nice looking in sheep's clothing, they treat you nice but inside they're Dangerous and treacherous as wolves.
You'll know them by thier fruit. Grapes do not come from thorn bushes.
IOW, it's their actions that will count, not what they say. Their character will count, not their fake smiles.
verse 17-18
Good prophets, or Teachers will produce good fruit. The end result will be good. What they teach will produce good results.
verse 19-20
Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and burned.
verses 21-23
Not everyone who says Lord Lord, but those honest prophets that did the WILL OF THE FATHER will enter the Kingdom.
Even the false prophets will say Lord Lord, but they could fool the people, but they cannot fool God. They were FALSE prophets and were not working for God. They were working for other reasons. Many today teach incorrect doctrine because it fills ups the church, for instance.
These will not enter into the Kingdom.
Many today prophecy, tell the future, and do all sorts of things but are not doing them in the name of God (and even some who say they are, really are not) after all, there is another power at work...the enemy.
