One can only attribute it to his upbringing. Monkey see, monkey do.

Jesus had a terrible upbringing as well. A nice guy doesn't go around calling people snakes and vipers, and hypocrites. Surely Mary raised him better than that, sad really. :(

(Matthew 23:30-33) "And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. {31} Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. {32} Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. {33} Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?"

monkey see, monkey do indeed..................................

funny how quick all the talk about us all going to hell in a handbasket disappears when you bring up how much we have to be thankful for, huh. At least that is my experience. But then i once had lots more stuff, and was way less thankful, too. I'm not even sure how you get from there to here, tbh. Fasting helped.

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. - O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. - Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. - You, ... hath he quickened, ... having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. - Even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

MATT. 6:12. Matt. 18:21,22. -Matt. 18:32 35. Eph. 4:32. Col. 2:13,14. -Co1. 3:13.

The point is we all fall short. We argue over whether or not we can perfectly keep the law, yet we refuse to see we break "Thy shall love thy neighbour as thyself."

Matthew 22:37-40 KJV
[37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

As thyself?

I have thought a lot about this the past couple of days, ByGrace. A lot of people want to point out how a person fails. They want to cause a person to doubt their salvation based off their inability to keep the commandments when they can't even see....they can't keep them either. self-righteous correcting self-righteous correcting self-righteous: forgetting
1 Corinthians 11:31 KJV
[31] For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

It is based of Christ and His work alone.
Yes, as you posted it is about forgiveness. Forgiveness of others is so much easier, when a person realizes they are not all that grand and they fail and they sin also. Then you can see the other person you ought to love, as yourself: no better, no worse...in the same condition: both relationships restored with God based off Christ and Christ alone.

Colossians 3:1-16 KJV
[1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. [5] Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: [6] For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: [7] In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. [8] But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. [9] Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; [10] And have put on the new man , which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: [11] Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. [12] Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; [13] Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. [14] And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. [15] And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. [16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Colossians 3:23-25 KJV
[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; [24] Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. [25] But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Luke 7:42-47 KJV
[42] And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? [43] Simon answered and said, I suppose that he , to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. [44] And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. [45] Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. [46] My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. [47] Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

I find it funny that so many write about us 'having to' keep the law.
Yet I have never gone to one single funeral ( the old we get, the more we attend) where the Minister has prayed by the side of the coffin....anything about the person going to hell!!
They always talk about the happy resurrection.

It really seems that those who beat the law and works drum...at a funeral are convince the person will be seen again in 'heaven' one day. :)
