trying to justify yourself?..... LOL. it's too late. Philippians 1:27a "Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ". not your dirty laundry.... LOL.

remember my motto below.......
Peace in Christ Yeshua.
Nobody is trying to "justify" anybody.
When I read this kind of drivel from sanctimonious people like YOU - it just shows how you ignore the words of Jesus . . .

Matt. 7:3-5
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Just because Paul and Barnabas divided, doesn't mean there is division in the Body of Christ. The Spirit was leading Paul and leading Barnabas.

The Corinthians divisions were of the flesh as some were identifying with certain individuals and others with other individuals. This resulted in envy and strife. (1 Cor. 3:1-3) The deeper cause of this was their lack of maturity when they should have been more mature. This was not the case with Paul and Barnabas.

Concerning 'a different message from neighbor', are you saying we all should have the same doctrine? That there should be no disagreement between Calvinists and Armenians, between Romanists and Protestants? Ideally, yes. Ideally we should never sin since we have the Spirit. But at this time down here we are not in an ideal world. Different levels of maturity, different gifts, different wills, the fallen nature, different circumstances to address, all involved in the Spirits work. Paul and Apollos are another example. (1 Cor. 16:12) Paul desired Apollos to visit him, yet Apollos's will was different.

EXCELLENT post Stranger...and so clearly said. Great balance.
Two thumbs up!

If only people had ears to hear it!!

Paul says...Eph 4:3-
"Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There IS one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling"
Strange how the very people that will argue that the bible is the pure word of God...do NOT believe this scripture!!!
A child could understand that we cannot KEEP something that we do not already HAVE.
Like it or not..GOD see us as ONE!!
Not a very 'united One', but nevertheless...ONE!!

Addressing the OP. WHY?, Romans 3:4 "God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged". the scriptures are truth, for they are God's words. when one depart from the scriptures, one is caught with the wrong message in their mouth.

Tried by fire. 1 Corinthians 3:14 "If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire". the Immaculate Conception have been proven a lie, so is the the Co- Redemptrix and the granddaddy of them all, the false doctrine of three person in the Godhead. Just use scriptures to root out every false doctrine and, their lies, when one have tried them by fire, then one can see their works.

Peace in Christ Yeshua.

Prov. 26:4
Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him.

"For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."Matt 13:12-15

ByGrace, after reading your post it may be necessary to clarify what was meant by a "different message". I don't know if it was you or someone else that posted on another thread(I am paraphrasing by what I remember being discussed): a person can have perfect doctrine but it is nothing without charity (love). Of course I agree with (1 Corinthians 13). When I asked how we all have a different message, it is about more than perfect doctrine. I read the bible to learn His will and His heart.

It goes way beyond doctrine. If someone tells me God wants me to consume myself with the lust of this world and do everything I can to gain it. For me, that is a different message. If someone tells me God wants me to hate my enemies. For me, that is a different message. I don't have to have perfect doctrine to recognize this. God has stamped forgiveness and mercy on my life and He won't let me forget it. God has brought forgiveness in to my life and made it very apparent in the way He prompts me to respond to those that cause my family pain. He teaches what is good and evil. And they are completely opposite than what I once thought they were. He changes the entire perspective. It doesn't happen on a page, it manifest day to day. Then someone comes along with a different message saying, no no no, that is not God... this is God.

It is more than doctrine.
It is, who they say God is.
For me, that is the different message.

I hope that makes sense.
That is the message Sister!

The best of doctrines are indeed worthless with the wrong attitude, which means what is in the heart. When we look at a person, we need to be careful what the Spirit is saying to us. On rare occasions, Jesus spoke perhaps sharply or harshly, but he unlike most or all of us here was able to see their hearts.

All of us believe we are right as Solomon wrote more than once, but believing it doesn't necessarily make it so for me or for you or for the other guy. God got through to the Apostle Paul on this and we see in I Cor chapter 13. Jesus saw the same message in Matthew chapters 5,6 & 7. The difficulty is not so much with seeing the mote in the others guy's eye, but in seeing that we have a beam in our own eye.

We can share what have from God with others, and sometimes what we present will miss the mark because we aren't always exactly where we need to be. The same, of course, is true with the other guy, but as you I am certain already know standing up and throwing punches is not going convince anyone who is right according to God.

"For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase." I Cor 3:4-7

I woke this morning with this question for God: why do we all hear a different message in His word? How can we read the same verses and not agree on the meaning?

What distorts?
What divides?
I believe it was @ScottA who mentioned early on in this discussion the tower of Babel in Gen 11. God confused [confounded] the languages of men. Men were unified in the wrong cause in order to build their own way to heaven. God restarted them. This is like the Reformation. There was one formal church structure when Martin Luther posted his 95 theses. It was one, but it was much like the tower of Babel. God had to tear it apart so that something good would come from it. It resulted in many languages instead of one; many churches instead of one; many new doctrinal starting points, instead of one. Mama was wrong, but so were the her many children who came out of her. Yet in the mess there were some who really started from the bottom. There are also many who start again from the bottom, from the lowest room:

"When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 14:8-11

1 Corinthians 14:24-26 KJV
[24] But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: [25] And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth. [26] How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
If we are not allowing God to give the increase but rather striving to force our own ways who is being edified? Even if I am right who will I help by coming in like a bulldozer with no holds barred? Only God's language in the right one? Only the person who chooses each time the lowest room will be lifted up every time by God who decides who needs to be elevated. Most every place we go, from the Catholic to my own home assembly, someone will block those who would come and try to start at the bottom. They will all insist that we go by their prescribed pathway and no other...

Here are those verses I always add in that possibly have nothing to do with the question but seem relevant to me.

Isaiah 19:14 KJV
[14] The Lord hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.

Drunken with the fruit of their own vineyards [their own doctrines and rules] and thus crawling in the garbage that they have spewed out for others to eat. Returning to Egypt where they say there are leeks and garlic to eat and where they had it so good. The place where it is so good supposedly are the established Catholic or Protestant structures each which may have started well but it had to be dispersed by God who confused their erroneous unity. Did anyone with their new language build it up right? Did anyone learn what it meant to edify the people of God?

"For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." I Cor 3:9-11

1 John 4:6 KJV
[6] We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Spirit of truth
Spirit of error
??? Who decides? The Word says God is not the author of confusion.

The Word of God did not die on the cross but only a body of flesh which housed the Way, the Truth and the Life of God. As a result the Spirit was poured to be properly distributed as per Acts chapters 1 and 2. Then people consumed the dead carcass of Jesus, which is the scripture and it was resurrected in people who received the Life giving or quickening Holy Spirit. The ones who did are found in all of those places: the original mother and her organized as well as the her unorganized children. Those being led by the Spirit continue to eat and grow. They continue to start at the bottom and allow God rather than man to lift them up. Those among them led by men... will fall into the ditch with their leaders.

I don't expect anything. What I would love to see happen and what I expect, are different.

You are you, right? You interact differently with each person. I have seen you do it here. You restrain your comments toward women. With guys you hold nothing back. In your personal life, I am sure your interactions with people are probably even more pronounced(same as with all of us), depending on who you let get close enough for intimacy. BUT still, just because you interact uniquely with each person, that does not change your entire makeup and character. You are still you.

God is still God; even though He interacts uniquely with each person, at their pace.

Do we(those that say they believe) all serve the same God?

1 Corinthians 1:13
[13] Is Christ divided?

Yes, we who are believers serve the same God.

No, Christ is not divided.

And I agree. No matter how much in our striving to learn about God and understanding the Bible, though making mistakes along the way, God is not affected. He still is God.

I am saying we should benifit the whole body of Christ. Each of us individually, should benifit the whole.
Something I feel He has brought up lately in my intimacy with Him is this (it is not directed at you): I find myself coveting and being jealous for God but He tells me that is wrong. I see so often on here the mindset of "I have intimacy and you don't. I am not going to share what God says."

Moses' relationship with God benefitted the entire body. Paul's relationship and revelations, were for the whole body, not for just Paul. It wasn't for Paul to boast in some level of intimacy achieved with God. We break off and speak of our intimacy that no one else gets to look in to. When we are on our knees before God, isn't it the Spirits work for the body of Christ? Are we not all called to move the body toward perfection? Paul laboured over the Corinthians, in actual distress for their arguing and divisions. Unity may seem impossible (in the sight of flesh), but still, shouldn't a unified body be our desire and mission?

I suppose jealousy for God that leads to elevating oneself above other believers would not be good. But jealousy for God in proclaiming Him among unbelievers and defending His name among them is not a bad thing.

Indeed, what we do as a believer affects the whole Body of Christ. Whether good or bad. We are one Body. And we should strive to keep the unity of the Spirit. (Eph. 4:3) It is interesting to me that after Paul said that, he said, "But" in (4:7). "But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ." He could have said "And". But he said "But" as to indicate though we strive to keep the unity of the Spirit, we are all given different amount of grace according to the gift of Christ, which will certainly result in differences. But the Holy Spirit uses these toward the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry, and the edifying of the body of Christ. (4:12) And the Spirit is using these to bring all into maturity and the unity of the faith and knowledge of Christ, the Son of God. (4:13)

Should unity be our goal? It is the goal of the Holy Ghost. We operate with our gifts and measure of grace doing the work the Spirit has fitted us for. I would say we do our best to be faithful to God to function in the Body as He has placed us. We care as to try and not disrupt the unity of the Spirit, but I am not sure unity should be our goal. Because often times our work will cause disunity in our local arena. And it is in direction of the Holy Ghost to do so as He sees a situation in that local arena that is taking away from the unity of the Body as a whole.

It is my opinion that we as believers really don't have the ability to strive for a complete unity in the Body of Christ. Only the Spirit knows what is needed and where.

Having open ears and eyes doesn't mean that you should fall prey to every wind of deceitful doctrine (Ephesians 4:14).

Having an open mind to the Word means that you can understand what GOD is saying - not what every yahoo with a Bible in his hand or ignorant online poster says.

Open your eyes and ears to the Lord.

yet "it is the members of a man's own household that he will be divided against," see, not those imaginary "unbelievers" that are only supposed to be getting Grace from you anyway, right.

we "witness" where we should be "sowing seeds," and we abdicate where we should be witnessing and defending, iow

and surely you could provide a definition for the Body too, right; iow don't take this wrong ok, but you prolly do not agree that the Body of Christ is hidden, despite at least three valid definitions of It floating around

Amen, but sometimes God speaks through some of those "yahoo" as He did through Balaam's donkey. God uses what is on hand as He see fit.
