The quote from Peter doesn't say anything about them being TOLD by God to write their letters down in a "Book", as you falsely claimed.
The Holy Spirit INSPIRED what they wrote - they were not coerced.

BIG difference, sparky . . .

Look. Every thought, every word, and every letter of a word was dictated by God. In other words...God breathed! God didn’t have to write in minute detail because He wanted us to search out the scriptures (Acts 17:11; Proverbs 25:2).

Are you saying all the Prophets and Apostles understood what they wrote and wrote with their own personalities? Not so! (see Luke 24:13-35).

Flash...Flash!!! The Bible is a Historical as well as a Spiritual Book!,

According to history, did not the Council of Nicea (consisting of the Universal Church) and Jerome, compiled the “Books” together in A,D. 325 as opposed to your claim it was the CC doing the same by the end of the 4th Century, almost 70 years later?

2 Peter 1:21 must be read and understood spiritually...sparky!

Ummmm, gee, I hate to be the one to tell you this, sparky - but the Council of Nicaea was convened by the CATHOLIC Church. ALL of the bishops were Catholic. ALL of the decisions and declarations made by the Catholic hierarchy.

Where did you get the warped idea that all of those Bishops and Jerome were NOT Catholic??
Here's a little history about declaration of the Canon of Scripture . . .

- The Synod of Rome (382) is where the canon was first formally identified.
- It was confirmed at the Synod of Hippo eleven years later (393).
- At the Council (or Synod) of Carthage (397), it was yet again confirmed. The bishops wrote at the end of their document, "But let Church beyond sea (Rome) be consulted about confirming this canon". There were 44 bishops, including St. Augustine who signed the document.
- 7 years later, in 405, in a letter from Pope Innocent I to Exsuperius, Bishop of Toulouse, he reiterated the canon.
- 14 years after that, at the 2nd Council (Synod) of Carthage (419) the canon was again formally confirmed.

The Canon of Scripture was officially closed at the Council of Trent in the 16th century because of the perversions happening within Protestantism and the random editing and deleting of books from the Canon.

Them's the historical facts, sparky . . .

ah, i'm a hypocrite too bro, fwiw
That's fine, if you want to admit to that.
However - if you call somebody else a hypocrite - at least have the courage to tell them why.

If you can't do that - then maybe you should stop bearing false witness . . .

Wrong.

You know what you know because of your Protestant Fathers. The problem is that you went further off the rails than they did because you have invented some newer, wackier ideas.

This is the fruit of the confusion that is Protestantism.
I'm a Catholic, confirmed at St. Martin of Tours church in Bethpage, Long Island, NY, back around 1969. That's okay nobody expects you to know what you're talking about. Just say 3 hail marys and an our father and call it a day.

Firstly, where did you get the notion I said the Bishops and Jerome were not Catholics. You are too quick to judge when you think someone disagrees with you.

Secondly, you did NOT understand the thrust of my post. Next time ask questions before you respond,

Waht those funny ones??
"Long-held beliefs can become entrenched over time, making them hard to change. But psychedelics might provide a way to alter them, a study suggests.
Researchers have been exploring psilocybin, the psychedelic compound found in magic mushrooms, as a potential therapeutic avenue for a small group of patients with depression who do not respond to mainstream treatments, with initial results suggesting a lasting reduction in symptoms.
Now, analysis of data from these same patients has hinted that the psychedelic substance could lead to lasting changes in outlook as well, including how people feel about the natural environment and even their political views.
According to the researchers, patients report feeling more connected to nature months after treatment with a dose of psilocybin. In addition, they show a general shift along an axis of authoritarian and libertarian viewpoints."

Oh, maybe from this little remark from post #1102:
"According to history, did not the Council of Nicea (consisting of the Universal Church) and Jerome, compiled the “Books” together in A,D. 325 as opposed to your claim it was the CC doing the same by the end of the 4th Century, almost 70 years later?"

This implies that the "Universal Church" is somehow different that the Catholic Church, which is complete and utter nonsense.

Besides, Jerome wasn't acting on his own authority when he translated the Books of the Bible into Latin.
This was a decision of the Church. As I educated you earlier - the Canon of Scripture was first officially declared by the Church at the Council/Synod of Rome in 382 and in the following 37 years, reiterated FOUR times.
Secondly, you did NOT understand the thrust of my post. Next time ask questions before you respond,

No - I completely understood the "thrust" of your post.
It was filled with the same ignorant lies and myths that most anti-Catholics spew.

Here's a little advice:
Do your homework before responding so you won't be exposed.
Don't you ever tire of being proven wrong??

oh, you are obviously pretty evil hearted, i mean 20-30 witnesses telling you the same thing can't all be wrong BoL
you asked, so i told you ok
First of all - a million "witnesses" can be wrong.

Secondly - YOU are the one who referred to me as a "hypocrite", then didn't have the courage to tell me WHY you called me that.
If you don't have evidence for your claims - then you shouldn't resort to false witness . . .

No - a Catholic doesn't reject the teachings of the Church.
That's called "Protestantism." You're an apostate Catholic.

You should look that up. Happened in the 16th century . . .

So if I'm apostate from an apostate church, then I'm an apostate squared. You can keep your idols of wood, stone, and metal. Praise the Lord, at least I know Him.

Don't go by the number - go by the truth.
The Church is the pillar and foundation of Truth (1 Tim. 3:15).
Certainly not yours if we have you to go by, since the truth is in Jesus Christ, and what has mens churches to do with Him.

Al base on mens wisdom, mens doctrines, mens understanding, mens rules, mens traditions, and men love it that way.

Come out of her "my people". so few listening.

this is why, right here, wadr. Augustine was holy now? What should a Christian even say to this?
Yes. That was why he is a Saint. Many of our Saints are holy people like the Apostles, the Mother of God, Mary, and so forth. Besides, Catholic elements of Christianity can be found in the ancient Churches.

We become Saints because of Jesus and His righteousness, you cannot "earn" saint hood, that is religious doctrines gone mad like most., and they certainly not deserved of our praise.

Rev_19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Idolatry how the devil loves it

ya, that all works great until you crack a Bible, and find out the truth i guess. You are a saint too, right? Look, i like Catholics, ok, but i know what Constantinianism is and i can put Paul's wolves on a timeline for myself, wadr.
Many of our Saints are holy people like the Apostles, the Mother of God, Mary, and so forth.
"The world is full of people who have stopped listening to themselves."

that was written by a Catholic too, you might go find him
Besides, Catholic elements of Christianity can be found in the ancient Churches.
with all due respect i don't believe you really understand what a single one of those words even means; or let's just say that we are using them all differently, as you may certainly define a word for yourself...or someone else will certainly be anxious to do it for you i guess

but what is in your heart is what matters

welcome btw! :D

well, you are talking about Christianity, right, and they are Catholics. Now, i don't think they have any business here, but that is not our call, so why judge? If works meet for rebound are demonstrated any kind of way, aren't you interested in the path?
