Who do I say Jesus is? Instead of spouting off endless amounts of scripture, I'd rather just boil it down to a few words and be done with it. Jesus Christ to me is akin to what our immune system is to my physical body. He is the immune system, the cure against what I call STD's, short for spiritually transmitted diseases, what the Bible calls 'sin'. It has brung decay and death into the world, and God, the doctor has prescribed the everlasting medicine for it through his son, simple enough explanation for me.

The term 'immortal' is used quite loosely throughout scripture. The only times immortality is used to describe anything else other than God are the glorified bodies we get and the angels. The bodies we are given are plainly stated by Paul to be 'immortal', the nature of which Jesus himself compared to that of angels. So when Paul says in that verse that only God has immortality, he obviously isn't referring to the same type of immortality his creation has and will have. For the creation, it just means that death is a foreign concept, but for God it means much more than just living forever. I don't recall the lifespan of an angel ever being given a limit. We don't even know how long they have been around, only that they are older than the six day creation.

The way I understand this is that God is the only one who is naturally or inherently immortal. I agree with you that anyone's immortality is dependant completely upon immortality as a gift from God. This leads of course to some unpopular subsequent beliefs. Such as the concept that if one is separated from the only source of life he must of necessity cease to exist.

No. When I speak of God specifically I am referring to the Father. (John 17:3; 1 Cor. 8:6) However, in general terms, the term God for me means both Father and Son as they agree in all things, and Jesus by inheritance is as much God as His Father. He is His Father's Son...like Father like Son. But God the Father is the source of all things, which He has chosen to give us through His Son, Jesus.
