All of us have been liars, my friend. The only one who would never lies at all any more while he had time would be one who has the whole mind of God and follows Him alone. One moment of quenching Spirit within will result in a lie when the person chooses in that moment to speak.
How do we quench the Spirit other than by ignoring scripture?

The same word translated as perfect in both passages means complete. When the Scriptures were completed (to perfection, since they are the Word of God, and as Paul says in 2 Tim 3:16,17, TOTALLY SUFFICIENT for any Christian), the three spiritual gifts related to divine revelations were withdrawn.

The apostle John was the final prophet, and there were no claims of prophets among the Apostolic Fathers. When John says that no man should add to the prophecies of Revelation, he effectively closes out genuine prophecies and the gift of prophecy.

Go back and reread my post's. (Ehp. 4:11-13) explains what 'perfect' is referring to. It is not the Scriptures. It is the mature Body of Christ.

Just if scripture is perfect, and does all that the bits and pieces of tongues and prophecy could not do = give the whole picture, then why feed on the scraps when you have the whole?

Scripture is perfect. But it is not what is being addressed in (1 Cor. 13:10).

Gifts of tongues and prophecy are not against Scripture. They are of the Spirit as Scripture is of the Spirit. They work hand in hand with the Scripture as their Author is the same. They are not scraps. What a blasphemous term.

They WERE scripture. But fragmented. Now we have them collected as scripture. The whole replaced the parts.

So? (Eph. 4:11-13) explains what 'perfect' is referring to concerning the gifts. Something you and others continue to ignore.

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” (Ephesians 4:11–13) (KJV 1900)

Paul and the others are alive and well giving us the same message they gave the others.

But only through scripture can we become perfect. Why such scandal among those who pay little attention to scripture and chase voices in their heads and see things that aren't there?

At which time ALL the spiritual gifts would be unnecessary. But Paul names three specifically for cessation, and that is what Christians should consider. Why only three from among twenty or more?

No, the gifts of tongues and prophecy are not Scripture.

That's deep. So?

Scripture shows the way. The Holy Spirit gives the experience. You deny both the Scripture and the experience.

The Holy Spirit is in scripture. We receive the fullness there, not by chasing voices in the head and seeing things that aren't there.

Would you rather have the real thing (scripture)? Or imitation?

You give Scripture which I have already given but does not pertain to anything you are saying. Thus, big deal. If you have some point to make with it, make it.
