Never pray on my knees. God is my father and He expects me to treat Him like one so I talk to Him as I would my dad, and its the same for Jesus, it is all they wish for, men to share their lives with them.
Sometimes though there are times when such a posture becomes involuntarily unavoidable...if John, Daniel, and Isaiah went face-down before angels, somehow I cannot imagine anyone standing on their feet when fully experiencing the presence of God.

Technology is a great asset in many ways. How will the gospel be preached to all nations without it?
I had a dream a long time back about bowing down to the antichrist.
Not wholly an improbable nightmare. Scripture tells us that the last days will be wading hip deep in deception. If people don't know how to identify the antichrist, how will they recognise him when he comes? What if he is already here and people are bowing before him now? What if, by your acceptance of his concepts and traditions and teachings, you are even now bowing before him and totally unaware of it? When the antichrist does gain global dominion and enforces religious legislation , and the whole world wonders after him...not one of those people bowing and fawning before him will know he is the antichrist...and they will be ridiculing and calling for the deaths of those who recognise his fraudulent credentials and refuse his seemingly oh so holy and devout overtures to loyalty and unity.

Agreed!
I do not believe we "have" to get on our knees/face but, it shows reverence toward The Creator. I do not do it often as my body has been pretty banged up and many surgeries but, when I do, I like to put a cloth to put over my head, it seems my prayers are more fervent when I do that.

I say he is already here and people kiss his ring and bow before him....

Yes, and no. I said involuntarily. Sure,, we are to come boldly but let us not do so without remembering Who we are approaching. Even earthly kings get respect from those who are willing to submit to them, but there is coming a time when rather than coming face to face with the King, most will prefer to be caught under an avalanche.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Re 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

In everything , there must be balance.

Most ‘arguments ‘ are not either/ or.....but Both.
Yes, as I said to Enoch elsewhere, we so often come into a debate where the protagonists do a to and fro with scriptures, as if those scriptures are contrary to one another and 'prove' one persons argument over the other. So silly. All scripture is given by inspiration, so all scripture complement each other. It is not to be found that we isolate certain scriptures in order to prove ourselves right, but when we bring all pertinent scriptures together and come to a conclusion whereby none of the scriptures are damaged in the process, that we find a closer semblance of truth.

When one stands before God or Christ in the righteousness of Christ, which is something that all who believe can do because of what Christ did, bowing down is that last thing on your mind, you just want to know more about them both..

i guess the spirits straightened up ol John, Daniel, and Isaiah quick enough though huh bl

boy, I sure do wish I could cause you to forget, completely forget, "Who" you are approaching bl, but I don't know how. Guess Scripture won't work, being as how our common pronouns are used for God...but I guess I can say to anyone who can remember "Who" they are approaching, I serve an Unknown God, and all of the gods I can remember have fallen. Guess that prolly doesn't help our convo much huh, sorry. He alone is Immortal, and dwells in unapproachable light deserves a better pronoun maybe

I serve an Unknown God
To the Greeks, yes. But Paul arrived and made Him known...at least in part.
Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

He alone is Immortal, and dwells in unapproachable light deserves a better pronoun maybe
Yes, but Jesus is very approachable, and hides from no-one.

I find internet/smart phone/electronics my biggest downfall. I find myself hoping for a rapture, because mankind already is sucked into the internet world. It has become a world all on its own that mankind has been taking part of. So much of buying and selling is already done by computer/electronic registers.

An electromagnetic pulse bomb will do the job. Any nuke will fry electronics, I think.

As I read your opening post, I thought of Joshua and Caleb.
They had to live for years and years in the middle of hundreds of murmuring and complaining people every day.

God did not take them out of the situation but taught them to to be victorious through it! Most of them died in the wilderness, receiving no promise , but Joshua and Caleb made it into the Promised Land. :)

You are a spirit being.."Go upward"...that is the way of escape. Living in the Spirit day by day. That is our escape.
The internet is there to be used or left. It in itself can do nothing.
The internet is not your problem. Tobacco is not a problem, guns are not a problem, ice cream is not your problem... etc etc...what we choose to do with it is where the trouble starts. :)
WORD!

I think @Mayflower hit the nail on the head when she said in an earlier post... We make idols of ourselves. One characteristic of ungodliness is to be lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. Satisfying self.. Pleasing and pandering to covetousness... Making a priority of achievement, accomplishment, and the praise of fellow man... Tickling the ego and doing everything possible to avoid self sacrifice by always claiming the highest seat... The list and descriptives could go o n and on... The bottom line...
Putting self above God. That is the greatest idol.

As for the internet... One wonders of the effect it's demise would have on the world. While we attribute the rise in teen suicide to social media/cell phones/internet... If such would be suddenly taken away, would the suicide rate rise or fall? Would parents begin to stress out because suddenly the responsibility would fall on them to become baby sitters once again in the absence of Disney?

Hello @Mayflower,

Reading through this thread so many thoughts have risen to the surface of my mind, for so many aspects have been introduced, and it is all good, for the thoughts engendered are challenging. Yet when I try to enter them here for consideration I find I shrink from their exposure. For they have to do with changes in perception, and the boundaries of what is right and what is wrong, which have rapidly eroded over recent times.

* How we need the washing of water by the Word, to wash away the detritus that accumulates in heart and mind by simply living every day. How we need to immerse ourselves in the Word of God, and allow it to bring order and balance, cleansing and readjustment to lives that are subject to the influence of the world and it's ways.

* I do believe we need to guard our hearts and minds from exposure to the cloying influence of the media, in all it's forms, visual or in written form. For when I look within I realise how my standards have eroded, and the boundaries of right and wrong become blurred. I have books and dvd's on my shelves that I should throw away, all time-wasting unfruitful, flesh pleasing things which do not edify, or increase my knowledge of God, in Christ Jesus.

* The verses which come to my mind are these from Isaiah, and also Ephesians chapter five in it's entirety :-

'Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes,
and prudent in their own sight!'

(Isaiah 5:20)

* We protect our children from obvious dangers, from traffic, water, fire, poisonous substances, things that could restrict breathing, etc., but the things of the world with their subtle influence we allow to go unchecked, for they come with the appearance of innocence.

* May God sharpen our minds and quicken into life our dull minds, that we may be more watchful. for we dare not take our armour off, and lie down in the sun.

In Christ Jesus
Chris

I feel as if God is telling me to give up electronics completely. I have no idea where to begin. I can't just take up into the country and become Amish. Though a lot live around here. I just wonder how to train my daughter up in this electronic world and how to gain self discipline. I definitely have a lack of it. Pray for me. I want to pray for better willpower. I know I can do things only in Christ's strength. But limits are hard for me. It is an all or nothing sort of thing. Anyone struggle with this? What are y'alls thoughts on today's electronic world? Depression and teen suicide is up. They link this to smart phones. It is becoming a big problem. I don't want to be desensitized where I just say okay to anything. I had a dream a long time back about bowing down to the antichrist. That is something I never want to do. But when we make ourselves idols, in a way we are doing just that. In Matthew, Jesus says His yoke is easy and His burden is light. That is what I desire.
I believe those devices and our addiction to them are symptoms of a deeper problem relating to to the societies attitude towards God and His Word. Our media toys are no help though, as they lull us to sleep, unless used in His service.

Hi Mayflower,

It's difficult for me to imagine what this generation will grow up into, considering their brains are developing around "smart" phones.

What I understand from my reading is that the brain will form according to what is happening during it's development. And that while some can be changed - brain plasticity - much cannot, as the brain structure itself becomes deformed.

It has a lot to do with rate that someone can move through so much material of whatever sort very quickly. Surveys to establish who is using what online/smart whatever and at what ages is truly alarming to me. I can easily see this being the last generation. Or perhaps there may be a backlash yet, but I think we're running short on time for that.

Much love!
