Yes. We are responsible for giving the truth in love. God is responsible for the results.
Fwiw the Speaking the truth in love passage is not one I would apply to myself, as much as I might like to. Or maybe I should say that it does not apply to your "we" like we would surely like to think? The surrounding vv in the passage maybe make that clearer. I think the point there was that you would have to first believe you know the truth in order to claim that? You would iow be deceived?

Sometimes what someone thinks is speaking the truth in love is more all their indoctrinations and swallowed leaven than it is truth.

We go beyond the truth of let all who are thirsty come and drink freely and move into trying to do a job that isn't ours to do. And we mess it up real bad.

It has been said that the Lord Jesus held truth without legalism and grace without compromise.

John 1.14: 'full of grace'; 'full of...truth'.

Pearl, I'm sorry that you feel I've been unkind to JJ. There was no anger in my heart at him and I have become quite fond of him. Its unfortunate that you read an entire thread and pull one word out of that entire thread and focus on it, rather than where someone's heart seems to be.

Its unfortunate that: "numbskull :p" is being mean in your view. Its unfortunate that: "numbskull :p" is something you think puts me in danger of hellfire. Its unfortunate that you judge a man by one word, said jokingly. Its just really unfortunate.

The thread has been here for days. At any time, you could have stepped in to speak with the man, who is having a hard time of late. Don't chide a person who has cared enough about his hurt to spend three days of her time with him and who thinks he's worth every minute of that time.

Its all just very unfortunate.
If you go back and re-read the post you are referring to you will see that it was a question not an accusation.

Truth without legalism is the only way. Otherwise, you're inching toward bondage again rather than freedom. AND you're being a bad doctor, like a chiropractor who would tell someone who came to them in pain and all hunched sideways: oh...I see what the problem is...you're walking crooked. Stand up straight and walk right!

I guess sometimes it can be hard for other ppl to figure exactly what's going on, anyway.

I don't even know what's going on. I rarely understand what he's trying to say. Its kind of like me with Byrd - I rarely understand what he's trying to say either. Lol!

There was a man that went to the doctor and said, doc when I touch my leg it hurts, when I touch my arm it hurts, when I touch my head it hurts. What’s wrong with me? Doctor says you have a broken finger. o_O

That's okay. We were each giving our thoughts, we weren't angry, and we didn't harm each other. The result should hopefully be a moving closer together in unity in love in the Spirit, even IF we still disagree or if we each tempered the other. :)

I have been hitting the sauce hard lately, I do feel a bit out of sync.

I hit the sauce hard when I was younger and was a bartender for...20 years or so. When I quit bartending I just mostly quit drinking, but it wasn't a plan or anything, I just wasn't around that whole scene any more. I actually used to drink about 2-3 six packs every night. And no one ever thought I was drunk! Towards the end there though, I was kind of having...walking blackouts, because my tolerance for it was so high that I drank more and more. And yet, everyone thought I was fine and didn't know I wasn't remembering how I got home or what I did afterwards! And in all of that, I wasn't an alcoholic. Which is hard to believe, but true.
