OK, so no one is elect? No one can know for sure, even though, that at one time they despised the Galilean Jew who hung on a cross, but now their only hope is in Him.
Even though they mocked at made fun of His children they now consider it to be an honor to be counted amongst the redeemed.
Even though, they once struggled earning their salvation, now rest in the perfect obedience and righteousness of Jesus.
Even though we were pulled from the pit of death and despair, we know enjoy peace, joy and faith in the Holy Ghost.
Even though......we are not elect?
Who said... no one is elect?

Do you agree with this?

Chapter 3: Of God's Decree

1. God hath decreed in himself, from all eternity, by the most wise and holy counsel of his own will, freely and unchangeably, all things, whatsoever comes to pass; yet so as thereby is God neither the author of sin nor hath fellowship with any therein; nor is violence offered to the will of the creature, nor yet is the liberty or contingency of second causes taken away, but rather established; in which appears his wisdom in disposing all things, and power and faithfulness in accomplishing his decree. ( Isaiah 46:10; Ephesians 1:11; Hebrews 6:17; Romans 9:15, 18; James 1:13; 1 John 1:5; Acts 4:27, 28; John 19:11; Numbers 23:19; Ephesians 1:3-5 )

2. Although God knoweth whatsoever may or can come to pass, upon all supposed conditions, yet hath he not decreed anything, because he foresaw it as future, or as that which would come to pass upon such conditions. ( Acts 15:18; Romans 9:11, 13, 16, 18 )

3. By the decree of God, for the manifestation of his glory, some men and angels are predestinated, or foreordained to eternal life through Jesus Christ, to the praise of his glorious grace; others being left to act in their sin to their just condemnation, to the praise of his glorious justice. ( 1 Timothy 5:21; Matthew 25:34; Ephesians 1:5, 6; Romans 9:22, 23; Jude 4 )

4. These angels and men thus predestinated and foreordained, are particularly and unchangeably designed, and their number so certain and definite, that it cannot be either increased or diminished. ( 2 Timothy 2:19; John 13:18 )

5. Those of mankind that are predestinated to life, God, before the foundation of the world was laid, according to his eternal and immutable purpose, and the secret counsel and good pleasure of his will, hath chosen in Christ unto everlasting glory, out of his mere free grace and love, without any other thing in the creature as a condition or cause moving him thereunto. ( Ephesians 1:4, 9, 11; Romans 8:30; 2 Timothy 1:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:9; Romans 9:13, 16; Ephesians 2:5, 12 )

6. As God hath appointed the elect unto glory, so he hath, by the eternal and most free purpose of his will, foreordained all the means thereunto; wherefore they who are elected, being fallen in Adam, are redeemed by Christ, are effectually called unto faith in Christ, by his Spirit working in due season, are justified, adopted, sanctified, and kept by his power through faith unto salvation; neither are any other redeemed by Christ, or effectually called, justified, adopted, sanctified, and saved, but the elect only. ( 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:9, 10; Romans 8:30; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:5; John 10:26; John 17:9; John 6:64 )

7. The doctrine of the high mystery of predestination is to be handled with special prudence and care, that men attending the will of God revealed in his Word, and yielding obedience thereunto, may, from the certainty of their effectual vocation, be assured of their eternal election; so shall this doctrine afford matter of praise, reverence, and admiration of God, and of humility, diligence, and abundant consolation to all that sincerely obey the gospel. ( 1 Thessalonians 1:4, 5; 2 Peter 1:10; Ephesians 1:6; Romans 11:33; Romans 11:5, 6, 20; Luke 10:20 )

This is taken from the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.

1689 Baptist Confession
Why would you bring out a Baptist confession of faith? That’s not inspired. There is no Baptist church in the Bible. The Baptist didn’t come along until 1500 years after Christ built HIS church. They teach false doctrine and are a denomination and apostate church. Paul condemned denominations or dividing up, in 1 Cor 1.

Many are confused because ;
1] they have not heard the truth presented accurately
2]they sit under false teaching and absorb it.
3] they themselves are false teaching
4] they go on anti -Calvinist sites
5] they have mental defects
6]they have emotional objections to truth.
7] In any case God has not yet allowed them to welcome the truth.
The one where so and so made a thread and offered this as proof Calvinism is a Cult is classic!

You know, just LMGTFY and BAM! there's the proof!

What did those in Ephesus have to do to be converted? Did they JUST BELIEVE? There conversion account is in the Bible if you care to look it up. Nobody even cares. They just like to insert their own doctrine into the book of Ephesians. This is the danger of reading other people’s mail.

Nope. This is the problem with you having zero clue in how to exegete the bible.

Hi marks,

It appears that you missed one of the citations of the Word of God in my post, so let me refresh that quote here. The Lord Jesus said:

"This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
(John 6:29)

I humbly state that my belief/faith is the work of God. Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ!

In the promise of the resurrection,
Kermos
Soli Deo Gloria! :)

Why would you bring out a Baptist confession of faith?

Because it's inspired. Pedro Ruckmann said so! :D

That’s not inspired.

It corrects the Geek. Yes, Geek, even Geeks like you who are theologically inept, confused and outright heretical.

Read it, and receive the correction it gives. Repent, and believe the Gospel.

There is no Baptist church in the Bible.

Sure there is, First Baptist Church, Jerusalem was the very first church. Read your Bible.

The Baptist didn’t come along until 1500 years after Christ built HIS church.

You're infected with Campbellism.

They teach false doctrine and are a denomination and apostate church. Paul condemned denominations or dividing up, in 1 Cor 1.

False assertion, and mishandling the word of God as well as that is not the intent of the text in 1 Corinthians. Thing is, your mantra is "I follow Campbell."

These guys have a statement of faith at their local Campbellite cult. We have a better more exhaustive Statement of Faith (Confession) and they act like to have any such thing is wrong, "Ub da debble!" and haven't even considered they have one as well. Thing is it's inherently weak, just like their theology, as are most church statements of faith.

Haha...
The Bible provides an account of a certain groups conversion. An account of what they actually did in order to be converted; and you don’t want to study that? You just want to go and read their mail and project what YOU THINK it should mean when they are told...
By grace you have been saved through faith
And I’m the one who doesn’t know how to “exegete”?
People on here never cease to amaze me.

I can see the sign now as you enter the city...
First Baptist Church of Jerusalem. Pastor Peter, youth minister James, worship minister John.

I worship with a group and have yet to see any “confession of faith” like the one that was posted. Have you seen me post anything like that? Do I believe certain things? Absolutely, just like everybody else. I am posting them everyday right here. I don’t ask you to consider something somebody else wrote and put their spin and commentary on. I just ask....what does the Bible say?

Uh huh. Church of Christ cult.
You know I have never understood the hatred people have with “the church of Christ”. If anybody has any love for the truth they will deal with the following questions...
I said that because nobody ever answers my questions. The reason being, the answers would not help their cause.
In Mt 16:18. Who said they would build their church?

So, if that is true; who does THE CHURCH not A CHURCH belong to?

In Eph 1 we see the body is the church. They are one and the same.
In Eph 4 Paul calls Christ body.....”the body of Christ”.
So, if the body is the church then the body of Christ is also the what? ....... of Christ.

And if their are numerous churches like Ephesus, Corinth, Phillipi, Smyrna, etc.
What would all of them be called? The ....... of Christ.

How did Paul respond in Rom 16:16 as he was closing out his letter. The ........ of Christ salute you. Did he say baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, Lutheran churches salute you?

Why would anybody want to you use any other designation?

Never was the church ever designated or even implied to designate his people as....Lutheran, Methodist, baptist, catholic, Presbyterian, episcopal, Pentecostal, etc.
The designation is only a term of belonging. The sign you put out front just says.....this is who we belong to.
There is more to the church then a designation, that is only the start. The church Christ built was organized a certain way, they operated a certain way, they all taught the same doctrine. (I can prove that)
The Methodist, baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, ALL.
Designate
Organize
Operate, and teach different doctrines. That is why there is a different building on every corner.

The Church of Christ has it moorings in the Baptists and can not trace itself back to the days of the Apostles. Alexander Campbell was in a church affiliated with Mahoning Baptist Association.

I didn't say no one said that, I was giving the proof (post #261) in an indirect way that was asked for in the OP.

I recall several in the BBFI touting they could "trace their roots" back to the time of the Apostles. They alluded to "The Trail of Blood" booklet as proof.

Probably would be better to trace one's roots back to the fall, their own wickedness and sin, their inability to come to Christ and dependence upon him for deliverance via repentance and faith in the Gospel.

In John 13-16 Jesus was with the apostles ONLY. He did not promise you the HS as a helper.
...snip
"The Audience of Lord Jesus for John 14:16 and John 15:16 Are All Dicsiples In All Time Post" (in this thread) contains the Truth. CKNW has been confronted with the Word of God, and CKNW denies the Power of God.

It appears that CKNW, according to CKNW's logic - which is truly illogic, it appears that CKNW claims that CKNW can choose Jesus that which Jesus said the Apostles could not do therefore CKNW considers CKNW more capable than the Apostles - according to CKNW illogic. CKNW's deceit condemns CKNW.

The Wonderful Lord Jesus says "you did not choose Me, but I chose you" (John 15:16), and Jesus, Who is Lord, says "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever" (John 14:16), and Jesus, my Lord and my God, speaks these things to all His sheep of all time!
