All spiritual growth is in mind, you don't grow in spirit, you can't get anymore of Christ than you already have. Years ago when giving what we called an altar call, I would make the remark " if you need more of God, come up here." Well meaning but wrong, you can't get more of God like he only gave you a little piece of Himself when you got born again.
You recieved everything God had to give the moment you believed. What you can get is more understanding of what God did to you the moment you believed. You recieved the whole bucket of grace, God holds nothing back from you. It may just take a life time for the mind to catch up with that but nevertheless it's fact.
So your mind becomes the place of spiritual growth, not your spirit. Your spirit is quite complete "in Christ, in spirit." Have you ever considered it to be fact, we let our minds wonder. We don't give time to our minds sometime neglecting the fact it takes time to get it renewed. So time is precious to you, you should never consider life as just passing the time waiting for something to happen, hoping to make the rapture. Don't waste your time with what scripture call vain imaginations. Your mind will wonder, everything comes from your mind.
The same way your spirit trained your mind in being a sinner, that is how you learn now. You must be taught about your new life in the spirit (Christ), same principle. It is the HolySpirit teaching Christ who is one with you in spirit. And that is your life now not just a sinner saved by grace trying to work out Christianity, but an understanding person who has Christ in them as their life not the old man, the new man. Your soul-mind becomes compatible with the Christ in you, the two are one, in spirit (the birthing), soul (mind renewal) and your body will always have pulls toward the flesh (mind given to body). Understanding spiritual matters is how the body is dealt with, you keep it in subjection. Example; when I know Christ as life do I want to do certain things or go certain places, no you will not. You love Christ more than you love the pleasures of this world. It is simple as that, all based on a love affair between the believer and the Christ in them.
