It is a lot isn’t it. My mother was just talking about this the other day...going back to her childhood and how she had an aunt who always wore skirts to her ankles...but when knee length skirts were introduced ...the aunt would tell the girls they were all tramps who would never amount to anything; based off the length of their skirts.

It is, I agree. The children technically weren't in violation of a new covenant teaching (not that that alone would exclude her from Heaven - we're all sinners in need of Jesus sacrifice to cover us). It might have been looked down upon, but not enough to exclude from Heaven.

One of the examples I listed was women wearing pant-suits in the business world. Even back to wearing mixed fabric clothes - I don't think I've ever worn clothes that weren't mixed, or at least never paid attention to it to not do it.

Well, there has been a sea change, of course; and reputable wardrobe consultants may now stipulate the following:

"Skirt Length for Office
For the office, your skirt length must not be below your knees."

Hyper-conservative religious people can wear what they themselves want, but they cannot give today's young ppl a hard time because of things like now reasonable hemlines, earrings, or whatever it may be.

I recently attended a couple of Christian School graduations, and was initially shocked by the length of skirts that are now being worn, particularly in a big city school -vs- the rural school. I think they have now reached their limit, there is no remaining room for shortening them further in the future! :) I know of one Christian school, that has a 'no more than 1.5" above the knee" rule, but that kind of thing is not happening in the larger major Christian Schools.

I have seen a whole lot of diverse ideas here, like it is improper for a girl to dress provocatively! I don't know where these old fuddy-duddies got that idea. As I viewed these provocatively dressed girls, the only thought that came to my mind, was viewing God's beautiful irresistible plan for the two to become one. These girls were definitely dressed as bait, and IMO that is definitely not morally wrong wrong in any way. That's just God's plan in action.

So, what are the Biblical rules?? When God introduced Eve to Adam . . . how long was her skirt?? <giggle>

Silk and wool would be an odd choice mixed into the same garment - I don't even know what that could look like.
Interesting thought! Kind of like saying a "soft gravel". Or "serene chaos". Silken Wool.

I am glad for my slacks! It is actually pretty hard to find an appropriate dress these days that is not too arousing. One reason why I don't look for them.
My wife used to buy a lot at various economical new clothes stores, but always also shopped the second hand stores. But today, even in second hand stores it is difficult to find something both appropriate and in the right sizes as comparative few dresses and skirts are manufactured. Supply and demand still applies.

Hi farouk,

In that article, they make it sound like the skirt length is a reflection of the general mentality, so as hemlines rise, so do stock, and vice-versa. But what I didn't see explored was whether the fashion designers are actually the ones in control of our economy, so as they design and market optimistic clothing, the people respond, and the economy improves, and vice-versa.

Denim has become a kind of staple for men and women in North America. This is an overwhelming fact, whatever some ppl's theoretical likes and dislikes might be.

I used to love wearing mini dresses back in the day (not too short though) and loved wearing the longer length dresses when they were in fashion but I just don't suit knee length. Short or long for me but although I have some short above the knee ones I wear with black tights I am usually in jeans or black trousers. Bring back longer dresses!!

lets see if this will stir anyone.. does this scripture below say women are not to wear pants. your pentecostals and some baptist live and breath this.. i am not necessarily asking this out ofnot knowing.. but curious as to what prof yea or nay

It has to do with cross-dressing to appear as the opposite sex, and related only to homosexuality, such as drag queens, and women appearing "butch."

There are actually garments made with a wool/silk mix. I looked it up.

Heh, you're right. I just thought of a funny combo when I wrote that - it's actual, huh. "Silk wool is not as scratchy as pure wool". I had a funnier combo in mind though, like shirt sleeves are wool but the torso is silk; or pants legs are silk but the top portion is wool (for more comfy seating of course)
