Then what are you doing on this site? Why aren't you out healing the sick? Why just talk about it; there's plenty for you to do if you can heal people by mere command! Why is there any sickness left in the world??
Well, then how did Jesus tell us to do it? (Hint: The disciples did this all the time.)

I don't doubt he told the disciples to do that. But these gifts ended with them.

And anyways that's not the question; why are you here instead of out healing people? Why is there any sickness left in the world? Why don't you just command all sickness to be banished from the world??

That just makes too much sense, so, she'll blame it on others. Only reason the "paralyzed pooch" was "healed" was because it couldn't do anything about it or refuse healing, you see. But who knew that for a mere 5K paralization can be cured.

Maybe she means she told her dog "heel" and it stood there, "paralyzed." Then she said "come" and it became unparalyzed. She "heeled" the dog.

That must be it.

I guess us experiencing healing is somewhat similar to what Calvinists say about "the reprobates"...…. "I already have it, but God has decided you are not permitted to know it".

Jesus even said "He could do no mighty miracles" in certain towns... "because of their unbelief."

2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 KJV
[8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, [10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. [11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: [12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Jesus got authority from himself as God incarnate. He could heal whatever he wanted, but He only healed those who had faith in Him, because He came to redeem and heal His people, not the whole world.

And again, this doesn't explain why you don't just command all sickness to be banished from the world?!!

The human body is designed to heal itself, I had a cold a month ago.

I imagine it is for the same reason Jesus didn't heal people who wouldn't come to Him, believing.... That seems to be the way He desired it to be administered. Sort of the same way He only saves those who come to Him, believing.... and ask.

I'm not Calvinist, so I don't yet know all the answers.

I find it ironic that this kind of reasoning is perfectly fine and accepted when we're talking about anything else... but when Calvinists speak this way its unacceptable.

Nor do I have all the answers. But rather than inventing idle beliefs that have no basis in Scripture or reality, I insist that my views are rooted in only Scripture

I was just trying to relate it to something a Calvinist might understand.

Oh, I get the terminology... the difference is we use these terms to defend God's power in salvation, not our own power in "healing"

Is "healing" just the one thing Jesus told His disciples to do that we are to ignore? We seem to accept dozens of other things Jesus said to do as totally valid.... but somehow this particular thing He told us to do is verboten?
