Any poster on this board will confirm that you have started thread after thread attacking Trump and attacking Israel and the Jews. And you have posted REAMS of unnecessary information -- information overload. So how can I be perpetrating a lie? That's a good defensive tactic, but it won't work since your threads are all there. The title of this thread itself is proof positive, connecting Israel to the devil.
You pompous WINDBAG take the log out of your eye before I’m tempted to do it for you
Im a Christian and there for
Can’t call you what I want
Or I’d call you a pompous old fart
Wait I did that

I simply asked some questions. I did not mention salvation at all although it may be involved. Jesus said if 2 or 3 gather together "in His name" He would be in their midst. He did not say this could only happen after the day of Pentecost. Why do you conclude that it had to be? Can you make what Jesus said in Matt 18:20 fit into what you are saying? Do you understand the difference between speaking the name of Jesus and being in it?
I never heard of “being in the name of Jesus”.

Also, where 2 or 3 are gathered together implies saved saints gathering together.

Remission of sins is caused by water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, not by gathering together.

Even praying in the name of Jesus does not remit sins, but invoking His name during immersion in water does.

I never heard of “being in the name of Jesus”.
What do they mean in the OT when they say things like what David said here?

"Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied." I Sam 17:45

Did not ministers, priests and prophets frequently come in the name of the Lord, or speak in His name in the OT? Were they perhaps "in His name" then?

Also, where 2 or 3 are gathered together implies saved saints gathering together.

Remission of sins is caused by water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, not by gathering together.
But is it not important to have Jesus in our midst? When we gather together to worship God and to pray is it not better to be "in His name" than not? The boy scouts might gather together and have a good time and yet Not be gathered "in the name of the Lord", ...right? Even three who had received the baptism of the Holy Ghost could gather together to watch a game on television and not be "in the His name",... right?

Even praying in the name of Jesus does not remit sins, but invoking His name during immersion in water does.
I was hopeful that you could answer me simply from what you have read in the Bible or even heard from preachers. Mostly in scripture it speaks of "in the name of the Lord" without spelling out the name, Jesus. One example is here:

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe." Prov 18:10

Can we not now run into the "name of the Lord" meaning Jesus? Solomon wrote those words about a thousand years before Jesus was born in Bethlehem so what do you make of that? Did he mean that men would be able to do that a thousand years from when he wrote but not at the time he wrote?

And what about this verse:

"While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled." John 17:12

Jesus kept them in God's name before he was crucified and resurrected and before the Holy Ghost was poured out on the day of Pentecost as per Acts 2. So what was new on Pentecost?

I read through these threads and think this ain’t no Christian site

you got people like Bobby boy who thinks he’s a prophet

You got Enoch calling Covenant names and mud slinging

Where’s the Christian behavior?
FYI....isn't this being judgmental?

Pentecost became the litmus test of all Christianity. They were told to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
The following chapters confirm this.
All baptisms we’re always and only done in the name of Jesus Christ since Pentecost.

Also, anyone coming in anyone’s name must say the name they are coming in.

You're just as bad too - you have to come in like an annoying mosquito to make things worse. Why don't you just LEAVE IT ALONE?

I'm disgusted on this board and with the so-called "Christians" who ignore the weightier matters of the law. I saw way too much through my years of walking with God. No wonder people don't want Christianity.

Be at peace...I am not attacking anyone...I was kindly addressing how many times I read a post that suggests who or who is not a Christian....this is judging....and if the person is able to see this error within their own selves then they have gained much wisdom in the matter.
I rebuke any words of spite or criticism you have spoken over myself or others here and declare that they will not take root and manifest in any way, in Jesus Name.
I pray God will give you joy and peace and wisdom to walk in His ways and be a good witness for others.
God Bless and have a nice day.

Since I presented it as a question, I am giving them opportunity to answer and present their intended meaning of what they were saying
So no I wasn't judging....seeking clarification as to whether or not they considered it as such.

I am not arguing these points with you. I was baptized in water in Jesus name in 1976 at a UPC in California. Rather I was asking about other things in scriptures which should be connected. Are you able to answer and make the connections?

Unfortunately there is truth in the words of Mahatma Ghandi, a non-Christian:

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

But take people one at the time and if there is hanging that needs to be done, let them hang themselves.

Tithing is not a N.T. doctrine.

The foundation is cited here:

"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." I Cor 3:11

My point and/or question was that as a person goes down in the water of baptism, what do the words recited over him matter if he really has not repented?

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38

Without the repentance, baptism is nothing. Now again if person has received the gift of the Holy Ghost, he is able to walk
"in the Spirit". He is able to get into the name as David did. Do you see a difference between what David had and what we have?

"Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me." Ps 51:11

Great question.
But to answer, I ask a question.....
What is an unrepented sinner doing in the water being baptized?
Was the person paid?
I never saw that before.
I have seen uncommitted types, but not unrepented.
