sorry but this is works based legalistic salvation, it is not the gospel of God
you earn death, you wore born dead, and the moment you sinned you earn spiritual death.
look at it this way, the penalty of sin is death, how many sins of you committed in your lifetime? Each one of those sins has been imposed a death penalty, how can you Earn freedom from the death penalty by your works? I know are probably some people on death row that would love to hear about your sal action by works, they would like to be set free too. However, nothing they personally can do will cancel that debt for them,
We are counted worthy because of Jesus, he is the one who did the work, it’s his righteousness that saves us not our own
you should worry about how you plan to pay the sin debt by your good deeds, and why you will not rely on a God to pay that debt for you, because god will not accept anything else as payment for sin, you can feel sorry for your sins all you want, I am sure many a Jew felt bad and kept trying to work harder, and was just as mad at jesus when he told them their work is useless.
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Col 3:23-24
35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Heb 10:35-36
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Heb 11:6
1 After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. "
Gen 15:1
24 The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.
25 To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless,
26 to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd
Psalm 18:24-26
8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:9
12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!
1 Cor 10:12
1 For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea.....
5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.
1 Cor 10:1,5
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing
2 Tim 4:8
12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12
Scripture is so long because you cannot separate the difference between our response and our reward.
It is both a gift and a reward. The gift is the conditional reward. Without faith we are nothing, but without change we are lost.
The failure of the legalistic mind is things must be one or the other, ie either you earn salvation by good behaviour, or your faith results in salvation no matter how you behave. Both are extremes exclude the other aspect of who God is and how we dwell in Him.
Obviously those who are legalists and convert to faith salvation without conditions or reprecussions feel they have gone from delusion into salvation. But missing the whole by excluding the other does not mean one has arrived.
It is also why the arguments will continue except for those who find Jesus and begin to understand the tension.
Security is in knowing Him, not having a catch all no matter who or what one is. If the cross is not enough to rest in, or Gods nature and behaviour then there is nothing left. God never changes, so whatever people might believe, if it does not match with His eternal behaviour it has failed.
The Lord is strange, because He does not defend Himself, He waits for us to seek and discover who and what He is. It is the nature of love, to take the humble road, and to wait for the fluff and exhuberance to die away, and to let the walk show the path. God bless you.
