Ummmmm, how many other people do you put on "Ignore" - only to come back every other day to argue with?Maybe I am obsessed...
But I think that I do not spend more time on your posts than I do on the posts of everyone at these boards.
So I would say that my obsession is not with you, @BreadOfLife; but with making certain that sound doctrine prevails throughout these forums.

You're obsessed with me . . .
Put me on "Ignore" - take me off of "Ignore".In your dreams.
I think that you think too much of yourself.
As I said, my obsession is with keeping sound doctrine as prevailing doctrine on these boards. I also have taken you off of Ignore. I figure that if you are going to be obnoxious, my ignoring you isn't going to put a stop to it; so I may as well continue addressing your posts when they are off-kilter (which is often).
You are off of Ignore permanently...Put me on "Ignore" - take me off of "Ignore".
Put me on . . . take me off, etc.
Just make up you mind already . . .
Just as long as you don't get so defensive when I expose your many lies about the Catholic Church. You are off of Ignore permanently...
Just know that your self-righteous, hyper-critical, judgmental attitude is not of the Lord and is the reason why many have put you on Ignore permanently.
I think that I can work with it if you will not harden your heart at my rebukes.
I don't say lies about the Catholic Church (for I did not sit down one day and say, "I think I'll make up lies about the Catholic Church and propagate them on the internet")...Just as long as you don't get so defensive when I expose your many lies about the Catholic Church.
Do your homework, and I won't have to expose you . . .
WHO decides what "sound doctrine" is?In your dreams.

The Spirit of truth.WHO decides what "sound doctrine" is?
Curious
John Calvin, Martin Luther, Huldrych Zwingli, Andreas Rudolph Bodenstein von Karlstadt etc. did they have the Spirit of truth? The Spirit of truth.
I suggest you receive Him; for in doing so I believe that you will begin to believe in sola scriptura and will hold the Bible to be the ultimate authority on any given subject. For He is the Spirit of "truth" and in receiving Him you will be taught by Him to believe the truth about holy scripture, that it is the ultimate authority.
The Holy Bible is also the diviner of what is objective truth.

Good Morning JBF,John Calvin, I have my disagreements with, Martin Luther, I do not like parts of his testimony and teaching, the other two I never heard of. God knows whether they had the Spirit of truth.
I would say that Luther and Calvin may have indeed had the Spirit of truth but were also subject to fallibility because they were also human.Good Morning JBF,
Can you help clear this up for me: You answered that the Spirit of Truth decides what sound doctrine is. You clearly disagree with Calvin and Luther so I am assuming that you would think they did not have the Spirit with them when they came to their truth’s?
Sooooo WHO in the last 1,900 years (since the last Apostle died) has had the Spirit of Truth in them that helps us decide what sound doctrine is? WHO are your go to guys when looking for sound doctrine?
Mary
On a public forum - it is EVERY poster's responsibility to post the truth. If you are going to post your objections to another poster's beliefs - you had better be DARN sure that you have your facts straight. Otherwise - keep your mouth shut until you GET the facts.@BreadOfLife,
I also find that you utilize methods of intimidation in order to put a stop to any naysaying about the Catholic Church; by accusing the naysayer of lying each and every time that anything bad is said about it.
And while you may even be right, in that the naysayer may in fact be misinformed, it is not accurate to say that they are deliberately lying...for in all reality they are merely repeating misinformation.
And there may also be times when the person is not misinformed when he naysays the Catholic Church.
Is it not your ministry to correct people when they are misinformed concerning the Catholic Church and then propagate that misinformation on the internet?
But I think that you can do this with a spirit of lovingkindness rather than being accusatory in your demeanor.
If you did change over to such a spirit, it would lend credibility to your cause; because as it is now, I'm afraid men will consider you to be a false prophet and not to be listened to according to Matthew 7:15-20; because your demeanor amounts to bad fruit; which indicates a bad tree.
Thank you.I would say that Luther and Calvin may have indeed had the Spirit of truth but were also subject to fallibility because they were also human.
But that if anyone comes to a conclusion based on having been taught by the Spirit of truth, that the doctrine developed would not be inaccurate.
This is why the verses that I quoted in post #532 (Jesus isn't Catholic) are so important. It is why we need to determine for ourselves what the Holy Spirit is saying to us personally at any given moment.
Heb 4:12, For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Another translation says that the word is "living and active"...
So then, each one of us has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; and what we may believe in at any given moment will be both given and adjusted by the word of the Lord as He molds us and shapes us into His image; not only in character but as concerning what we believe at any given moment.
The Holy Spirit will lead us and will guide us into all truth. We may not have the fulness of the truth in the present moment; but if we continue on in a relationship with the Holy Spirit, He will be leading us closer to the truth every moment that we are alive. The devil and his demons will be attempting to lead us in the opposite direction.
Even your theory that the Holy Spirit will lead us and guide us into all truth if we continue our relationship with the Spirit is a truth that you currently believe. But according to your theory you could be led away from that “truth” some day and realize that Scripture teaches something different.
