so then the Scriptural concept of Gehenna right here on earth is changed into the Norse/Angle concept of "hell" in some unQuotable "afterlife" and badabing huh
ok
ill revere Him Who can destroy both body and life/soul in Gehenna, and let he who digs a pit for others to fall into do what they like, even to mongering fear and divining the future for others if thats what they want to do
I don't want to give too many details about how I visited hell once to preach. I figured if Jesus did, maybe I could. I asked if I could and was finally allowed to. It was a dreadful place, to be sure. (The part I visited didn't have flames; but I did see a place in hell once that had flames.) I could not get one person to change his mind -- I told them they could get out -- it didn't matter to them. They were trapped there by their own hate. When I returned to my body, I saw they had indeed fallen into the pit they dug for others. They wanted that kind of hell to exist, so it did.
A second visit was to a less terrible place, but again no one wanted to listen to what I had to say. They thought they were worshiping God.
So what does happen when we die? My experiences tell me we go where our "treasure" is. I've seen other sections of hell -- and from what I can see, people are attracted to various places when their consciousness is no longer tied to their bodies. If you like to think about good things, that's where you'll be attracted when the physical body loses its "magnetic" attraction on you.
Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
If there wasn't a place with hellfire, God might have to invent it to keep some people happy. The afterlife is odd -- since we often do help create it. The people here who think we all fall asleep and know nothing? That is probably what they'll do. When their bodies die, they'll say, "Now what do I do? Time to go to sleep, I guess." Ha, Jesus woke some people like that shortly after the crucifixion -- and they came out of their graves. But we still have people convinced they'll be going to sleep, so I suppose they will.
