Moratorium-
a temporary PROHIBITION of any activity.

Christianity Board- decision-
"We have a temporary moratorium on any US presidential election related threads until after the election results are in, this includes any topics intended to sway political opinion. The divisiveness is getting to be too much for a Christian forum, vote as you are lead."

Luke 12:
[51] Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

John.7

[43] So there was a division among the people because of him.

Rom.16
[17] Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

It's is NOT the marking / identifying afforded through free speech...but rather the Lack of Avoiding Them specifically, that Appears to be the issue, on this Forum.

Why punish Right of Free Speech...when it is Lack of Avoidance that is the issue?

Glory to God,
Taken

I don't mind this time, because a few are approaching me in private asking about it.

I have no control over what people choose to respond to, so left on its own the divisiveness wouldn't end. Nether is it fair to ban people in full or in part for their support of the opposing party, because it is not against the rules.

That leaves only a moratorium on every election thread for fairness. I was lead to take action to stop the divisiveness last weekend. After the call to fast and pray over the election. Heated arguments do not make for an environment conducive to listening to the lead of the Spirit.

I also figure everyone here knows the facts as presented here in many threads and has their mind made up.

Many have been praying too, for the Lord to expose evil. And it has been answered here, exposing people who believe New Age doctrines of devils. This wouldn't have happened if everyone were embroiled with the election.

So I plan to continue the moratorium up until the election results are in, so we can focus on prayer rather than politics.

While I am not going to argue against this decision, it might be interesting to note that these forums, almost all of them, have debate and discussion. And more often than not it incurrs divisiveness. Not everyone agrees on any topic be it scripture or news or politics. We are believers, but disagreement will happen. There is debate on the rapture, baptism, the work of the holy spirit and much more.

That's we we come to these forums. Not to speak with people who simply agree with us, but to speak with those who do AND don't. It sharpens our beliefs and faith. Iron sharpens iron. Now that doesn't mean we have to call people names or challenge their integrity or christianity. But we can and so challenge ideas and doctrine. Often we hope to change other people's minds or at least make them think or plant a seed that will eventually bear fruit And in my humble opinion that is a good thing, not a bad one.

I'm tired of the discussion taking all the oxygen out of the room.

Besides...it will all be over soon. And I predict that no one will be happy with whomever gets elected.

A moratorium on discussing the election is fine, but I do not understand why we do not want to sway other's opinions? To avoid the discussion because it causes sin (hateful anger and judgmental attitudes) may be a better motive? However, our spirituality is strengthened by trials and tribulations - the irritability toward others who oppose our views is an opportunity to overcome the attitudes of the flesh and allow Christ's light to shine through us.

God will decide this election. Jesus said, "You have no power, except that which was given you from above." Jesus did not fear the power of the Roman leaders, nor should any Christian fear who wins this election. Neither Biden nor Trump can win, unless God allows it.

In all matters there is a time to play your cards or fold. The problem is that many lose because they do not know when to fold, if they do not hold a winning hand.

When the argument is not logical but emotional, it is best for members to fold.

When the argument is based on flawed understanding, it is best for members to fold.

Change can only occur if the person we want to correct is willing to change himself. Often the person who needs the change in attitude is the person wanting the change in the other person.

The best strategy is to fold and in faith to hand the issue/problem over to God so as to actually see God's hand at work.

So often when we try to fix things we are actually upsurging God and taking over His role as the Godhead in the world. That means that we are sinning.

The world does not rotate around the outcome of one country in the world, but as people come into relationship with God, then changes in the outcome for the world are possible.

We are told that we can move a mountain, i.e. a false religion, into the sea so that it disappears from view, if we, with faith, pray and seek God's face in the matter.

There will always be many contentious distractions on a forum. The question often is, for those who believe in the power of God, can He cause me to act responsively in responding to the other responses within that thread. The real question is, do I know when to fold.

Shalom

WAY too much strife and infighting to allow all that to continue. Many Christians don't seem to grasp that demons can gain rule over their tongues, and they end being used by the Devil instead of God. Such was the case with many of the political threads. I had a good one going that I thought everyone should be reading, yet even I had to personally request that it be shut down even before the Moratorium took place because it was getting completely out of hand.

I'm not subsidizing anything that turns this place into the Devil's playground, no matter who wants to justify it in the name of speaking the truth "in love" or "iron sharpens iron." We have to be smarter than that. Scripture speaks against allowing the root of bitterness to rise up and corrupt many, and that's precisely what was happening.

The Moratorium was the right decision. I am 100% in support of it.

I, for one, have read numerous comments that the moderators don't do a very good job of moderating this forum....especially in allowing insults, character attacks, controversial topics, etc..etc..
And how ironic it is that when they do it is met with so much rebuttal.
I think @lforrest does an outstanding job of moderating....especially when compared to other forums.
Just be content that there is a forum...
AMEN?

Despite the Moratorium, I've seen some presidential election related threads and comments about the current President and political climate.

Yes you have. And they have been locked. The one or two that wasn't locked was because it wasn't about the election or supporters of either party.

I like the way this forum is moderated, I don't enjoy the Hell and Death condemnation some member toss around like it's trivial. But they have a right to an opinion and beliefs. You have responded when I have been attacked by either editing out the content or erasing the posts. Thank You!

I feel better about the moderation now than I did during the first few days after I joined the site. But I wish there were stricter rules like what I've read in Christian Forums' TOS. I thought the offensive name-calling and the derogatory remarks I've seen in some threads was a terrible Christian witness and a disgrace to the overall reputation of this site. I kept thinking that it's no wonder why there are so many scathing news articles and commentaries like what I've shared before in my posts. I agree with Hillary Clinton when she said Christianity is too judgmental and alienating. I know she's right because I've experienced it firsthand and have witnessed it on this Christian board since I joined a little over a month ago.

Agree. Really this whole forum is nothing but division. You can't even start a fellowship thread without argument and hate, which this whole place is full of.

So you're saying you don't believe me then, right? LoL!!

I'd "hate" to be pushed down a hill in that thing, or floated down a river... That would be even worse.

I think she got "juiced"...

I love Willy Wonka (old one not the new one)

He was brutal about the way parents spoil their kids.
And it hasn't gotten any better. And basically the spoiled kids have grown into adults.
