I am a Firm Believer in OSAS . Jesus made me that way.He said that if we simply Believe in Him , and Trust in Him ALONE for our Salvation we would find the following to be True: we would “ already HAVE Eternal Life and would NEVER come under Condemnation” Silly me— I actually BELIEVE that Jesus will keep His Word. That's what Faith is.....Trusting in a Promise Of God.....I “ have” that kind of Faith.....That is why I Saved. Forever.
Having said all of that.....the Critics Of me and my ilk are always saying that the only reason that the OSAS Crowd Believes the way that they do is so that they can go out and Sin to their little heart’s content and “ Get away with it!”
Well, here’s something for you Nay-Sayers to ponder.....”Your” Doctrine maintains that if you Sin, all “you” have to Do is make sure you “ Repent” Of That Sin before you go to bed that night, lest you let it slide, die overnight of a sudden heart- attack and wind up in Hell.....
So why not both sides just get together , grab each other’s hands, go to the nearest House Of Ill -Repute , get Blind drunk and just have a Big Ol’ Time ! There should be nothing to worry about.....I can do anything I want to do and get away with it ( even without a prayer of Repentance ) and all you guys have to do is admit your sin to God and apologize for it and promise to do your best not to do it again and your standing with God is “ as good as Gold”...... just like mine!
I think this little Pretend Tale clearly illustrates the error and hypocrisy you show when you accuse the OSAS Believing their Doctrine solely to “ take Grace as a License to Sin”..... Your Doctrine allows for the Same ungodly Behavior ....both groups can abuse the Grace Of God if they are Foolish to try it ....
My Main reason for avoiding Sin is because When God Forgave ALL of my Sins , He did not stop with that —- He gave me a New Heart .That “ New Heart” did not make me God's Robot......Before my Salvation , I was Free to do whatever I wanted to do —- right or wrong! THAt has NOT changed—— God has never messed with my Freedom Of choice ..... I still do what I want , but God kinda “ tricked “ me. He changed my “ Wants”
Sinning robs me Of my Joy , it has lost its “magical Appeal” ......as I have said Before — Sin has about the same appeal for me as getting a Drano Enema does ....so speaking of how God Changes our “ Wants” ( its that “ Inside Of the cup thingy” ) —- Who on Earth would want THAT?
One must be a New Creation to understand these things . Some things must be “ Spiritually Discerned” to be understood ....it makes me want to ask the question —- why do some of you lack “ Spiritual Discernent ?” Are you CERTAIN that you are a “ New Creation?” I doubt that some of you are...Some say that OSAS is the “ Narrow Gate”......Some could be right .....
In the meantime.....abandon your “ Canard” about the “ license to Sin” being the Appeal and the Inspiration for OSAS ......you do Nothing But Show your ignorance when you do that.....both camps can abuse God's Grace when they are Stupid enough to try it ......Neither side needs any “ license” to disobey God, anyway—— if you have a brain, you know that we ALL—Both Sides— do a splendid job of Sinning Without a “Permission Slip” or a License to do so.......God Bless....

I was raised in a false christian faith where we believed that we could get utterly wasted, to the point of not being able to speak, and spend hundreds of dollars per night in strip clubs . . . and all the while be "safe and secure within the arms of Jesus." I thought that because I felt that I could understand certain elements of God's Holy Word, this meant that I was a True Child of God, Indwelt by His Holy Spirit. But what I didn't understand is that if I were Truly Indwelt by the Holy Spirit, my life would have undergone a very specific, and Holy Transformation. Of course, my life wasn't changing into Righteousness and Holiness, but instead, my life was becoming more and more horrific in my sins. And because I believed in Eternal Security, which is what seemed to be an advanced Doctrine of the Bible, I Truly believed that I could continue to sin not only as I had been, but much worse . . . yet still go to Heaven (with confidence in my Heart).

I was wrong. Once I had been Truly Indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and a True change began to take place, I realized that there was no way that I could have been a True Christian.

Good grief! What false Christian faith was that? What was the name of the church you attended who taught that? A continuous lifestyle of getting wasted and spending hundreds of dollars per night in strip clubs would be the bad fruit of a false conversion.

There remains no more sacrifice for willful sins. And he who falls away cannot be brought to repentance again (Hebrews 6:4-6; Hebrews 10:26-27).

The only sins that can be remedied are unwillful sins which are done by those who are still babes in the faith who do not have Christ formed in them yet (Galatians 4:19). Those who are born of God cannot sin (1 John 3:9; 1 John 5:18).

Good question! A person will find this general teaching in most "church's" throughout the world. It could the Church of Christ, Baptists, Pentecostal . . . etc. It really doesn't matter. And I say that it doesn't really matter because if you go to any Church, you'll find that even retired pastors don't agree with everything the current pastor teaches. For example, the last church I attended not only didn't use the name Jesus for the seven months we attended, but they didn't teach the most fundamental doctrine there is, which is the Doctrine of the Circumcised Heart. However, a retired pastor, there, absolutely believed in the Doctrine of Circumcision, but he never mentioned it, nor pressed that Doctrine in our Sunday morning classes as we discussed our "lesson."

So it doesn't matter if the sin is strip clubbing, or if it is being a liar, or thief, or abusing others through neglect (ignoring). Sin is sin, and to date, at 53 years of age, I've never attended a church that actually taught the Doctrine of Circumcised Hearts, and if a Church actually did that, Obedience would not only be evidence of Holy Salvation, disobedience would be punishable by the Church staff. But, I never saw that sense of punishment. Instead, I witnessed staff members commit adultery, yet the sin was kept quiet and hidden, and that staff member was allowed to keep their job . . . and wave their hands in the air as they continued to lead "us" into "worship." I would know, as I was involved in this kind of sin even as I held my own role in church staffing. It is unbelievable what takes place at staff level within our Church's, for I have seen and been a part of this ridiculous practice throughout my entire Christian life. Sad . . . it is all very, very sad.

Good OP and Jesus changes us from the inside out with the new heart, desires, mind, will, motives etc.......

Its the opposite of legalism/fear as we are motivated by His Love and a desire to please Him.

Exactly. And this is why Paul called to have disobedience removed from any Church, for sin spreads throughout the Church as does yeast throughout bread.

"hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord."

Punishing sin is what Love does, for Love pushes people into the right direction . . . the Hands of Christ.

You ever take 5 minutes to listen to somebody that can clearly show or a child of 5 that your “ Take” on these verses is erroneous? On and on you go, quoting Scripture out of context , behaving as if Ignorance were a Virtue......do yourself a big favor....google Andrew Farley or “ Yankee” Arnold on these verses.....stop ruining Newbies that visit here..... Newbies out there?......please ignore this False Gospel Spreader....

It’s quite astonishing how you seem to be the type of person who is described in these scriptures:

Jude 1:10,12-13,16 KJV
[10] But these speak evil of those things which they know not [ceasing from sin]: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. [12] These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; [13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. [16] These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons [Andrew Farley/Yankee Arnold] in admiration because of advantage [Enabling and strengthening false doctrine].

I would pray that these scriptures would have an effect on you so that you would not be condemned by them in the end.

Proverbs 27:5 KJV
[5] Open rebuke is better than secret love.

I take no pleasure in rebuking my fellow man. The scriptures are brutal to sinners; that’s how I was reformed from the errors of my former life.

Ok, well please don't treat me in this manner. I find mature conversation to be much more fruitful.

It should be clear that eternal security is promised to those whom Jesus knows (John 10:27)...

And He says to certain people on their day of judgment, who were workers of iniquity, that, I never knew you. (Matthew 7:23)

Those who practiced iniquity in their lives and never repented, will be cast into a furnace of fire (Matthew 13:41-42).

It also seems that the OP is not seeing the understanding that repentance is not just saying you're sorry...it is actually turning away from the sins that you committed.

If you turn away from them, that means that you won't commit them anymore...

And this is different from the OSAS'er in the OP who does not repent at all.

its the leaven of the self righteous Pharisees in Matthew 23 at work.

The Pharisees made the scriptures void while telling people to do things they themselves would not do.

Mark 7:7-8 KJV
[7] Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. [8] For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men [as Once Saved Always Saved/Eternal Security].

All a newbie has to do is read the scriptures to discern who here is spreading lies.

I don’t use the wisdom of men to back up what I say; I simply show what is written in the word of truth (Daniel 10:21).

Self-examination allows us to figure out if we are deceived . . . or not.

1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV - "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned."

I have never heard a single "Christian" speak of what they have tested, what the results were, and what they did about it to correct themselves. And that is a serious problem.
