Jesus Christ continues HIS ministry in His new covenant church thru Peter, the apostles, and their successors with the same mission, power, and authority!
Mt 16:18 Mt 28:19 Acts 1:17 acts 8:31 & 35 Lk 10:16 Jn 8:32 Jn 13:20 Jn 15:5 Jn 16:13 Jn 20:21-22 eph 2:20

There is ONLY ONE COVENANT!!!

The Old Testament believers look forward to Christ, while the New Testament believers looked back to Christ for salvation.

You are taking the glory away from God when you say Peter is the rock not having any knowledge or understanding that God is the Rock of the Bible (Psalms 18:31; 1 Corinthians 10:4)).

I've responded to the OP but you did NOT even make an attempt to reply on Post #67! And, I know why. BECAUSE you are not spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:14). Nor do you have knowledge and understanding of the things of God which I've already alluded to (1 Corinthians 12:3).

I suggest you re-study Mt. 16:18-19 and don't rely on others for your answers concerning the Lord Jesus!

Rome's statements and picture of the "mater eccles" "Lateran" are "rubbish"?

The point of the post, was to see if you desired to compare the two women:

[1] Ellen G White, to

[2] the "mater eccles." of Romanism

I was attacked on the point of posting material from the 'woman' Sister White, when Roman Catholics continually post page after page of material from Roman Catholic teachings.

Thus two 'women' are involved. I am asking if you are unafraid to compare the two women and their materials. I do not fear to compare. What about you?

"mater eccles"? I know about eccles cakes - very tasty. But what is or are "mater eccles"?

You are just wasting my time

It is taking NOTHING away from God. It was Jesus who personally renamed Simon as "Rock"
In the first chapter of John’s gospel we read of Jesus’ first meeting with Peter. At that point Peter is called Simon. Jesus says to Peter (vs 42)
"So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Kephas" (which means Peter)
Renaming someone is always significant in the Bible. Kephas (sometimes transliterated as Cephas) is Aramaic for Rock (a big one).

Paul refers to Kephas in 8 places in both his first letter to the Corinthians and in his letter to the Galatians (e.g. 1Cor15:5, Gal 1:18, Gal 2:9).
By giving Peter the name Rock, a name that represents himself, Jesus was indicating that Peter was to be his representative before men.

In Mt 16:18 Jesus made Peter his representative before people, and he gives him authority represented by the keys in Mt 16:19, and the power to bind and loose, also in Mt 16:19.
The Pope, as the successor of Peter, is God’s representative before his people with his authority.

To God Be The Glory
Mark 3:16; John 1:42 – Jesus renames Simon “Kepha” in Aramaic which literally means “rock.” This was an extraordinary thing for Jesus to do, because “rock” was not even a name in Jesus’ time. Jesus did this, not to give Simon a strange name, but to identify his new status among the apostles. When God changes a person’s name, He changes their status.

Gen. 17:5; 32:28; 2 Kings 23:34; Acts 9:4; 13:9 – for example, in these verses, we see that God changes the following people’s names and, as a result, they become special agents of God: Abram to Abraham; Jacob to Israel, Eliakim to Jehoiakim, Saul to Paul.

2 Sam. 22:2-3, 32, 47; 23:3; Psalm 18:2,31,46; 19:4; 28:1; 42:9; 62:2,6,7; 89:26; 94:22; 144:1-2 – in these verses, God is also called “rock.” Hence, from these verses, non-Catholics often argue that God, and not Peter, is the rock that Jesus is referring to in Matt. 16:18. This argument not only ignores the plain meaning of the applicable texts, but also assumes words used in Scripture can only have one meaning. This, of course, is not true. For example:

1 Cor. 3:11 – Jesus is called the only foundation of the Church, and yet in Eph. 2:20, the apostles are called the foundation of the Church. Similarly, in 1 Peter 2:25, Jesus is called the Shepherd of the flock, but in Acts 20:28, the apostles are called the shepherds of the flock. These verses show that there are multiple metaphors for the Church, and that words used by the inspired writers of Scripture can have various meanings. Catholics agree that God is the rock of the Church, but this does not mean He cannot confer this distinction upon Peter as well, to facilitate the unity He desires for the Church.

Matt. 16:18 – Jesus said in Aramaic, you are “Kepha” and on this “Kepha” I will build my Church. In Aramaic, “kepha” means a massive stone, and “evna” means little pebble. Some non-Catholics argue that, because the Greek word for rock is “petra”, that “Petros” actually means “a small rock”, and therefore Jesus was attempting to diminish Peter right after blessing him by calling him a small rock. Not only is this nonsensical in the context of Jesus’ blessing of Peter, Jesus was speaking Aramaic and used “Kepha,” not “evna.” Using Petros to translate Kepha was done simply to reflect the masculine noun of Peter.

Moreover, if the translator wanted to identify Peter as the “small rock,” he would have used “lithos” which means a little pebble in Greek. Also, Petros and petra were synonyms at the time the Gospel was written, so any attempt to distinguish the two words is inconsequential. Thus, Jesus called Peter the massive rock, not the little pebble, on which He would build the Church. (You don’t even need Matt. 16:18 to prove Peter is the rock because Jesus renamed Simon “rock” in Mark 3:16 and John 1:42!).

Matt. 16:18 – also, in quoting “on this rock,” the Scriptures use the Greek construction “tautee tee” which means on “this” rock; on “this same” rock; or on “this very” rock. “Tautee tee” is a demonstrative construction in Greek, pointing to Peter, the subject of the sentence (and not his confession of faith as some non-Catholics argue) as the very rock on which Jesus builds His Church. The demonstrative (“tautee”) generally refers to its closest antecedent (“Petros”). Also, there is no place in Scripture where “faith” is equated with “rock.”

Matt. 16:17 – to further demonstrate that Jesus was speaking Aramaic, Jesus says Simon “Bar-Jona.” The use of “Bar-Jona” proves that Jesus was speaking Aramaic. In Aramaic, “Bar” means son, and “Jonah” means John or dove (Holy Spirit). See Matt. 27:46 and Mark 15:34 which give another example of Jesus speaking Aramaic as He utters in rabbinical fashion the first verse of Psalm 22 declaring that He is the Christ, the Messiah. This shows that Jesus was indeed speaking Aramaic, as the Jewish people did at that time.

Matt. 16:18-19 – in addition, to argue that Jesus first blesses Peter for having received divine revelation from the Father, then diminishes him by calling him a small pebble, and then builds him up again by giving him the keys to the kingdom of heaven is entirely illogical, and a gross manipulation of the text to avoid the truth of Peter’s leadership in the Church. This is a three-fold blessing of Peter – you are blessed, you are the rock on which I will build my Church, and you will receive the keys to the kingdom of heaven (not you are blessed for receiving Revelation, but you are still an insignificant little pebble, and yet I am going to give you the keys to the kingdom).

Matt. 16:18-19 – to further rebut the Protestant argument that Jesus was speaking about Peter’s confession of faith (not Peter himself) based on the revelation he received, the verses are clear that Jesus, after acknowledging Peter’s receipt of divine revelation, turns the whole discourse to the person of Peter: Blessed are “you” Simon, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to “you,” and I tell “you,” “you” are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church. I will give “you” the keys to the kingdom, and whatever “you” bind and loose on earth will be bound and loosed in heaven. Jesus’ whole discourse relates to the person of Peter, not his confession of faith.

I suspect God is saying nothing, that in reality it's just people who think their opinion is greater than the other people who post here. I get that, I really do.

I personally think you have bumped your head, and need to have some rest and lie down if you think what I shared proves such a thing.

A scriptural "day", is indeed compromised of two parts, a night and day:

Genesis 1:5 "... And the evening and the morning were the first day."

Genesis 1:8 "... And the evening and the morning were the second day."

Genesis 1:13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Genesis 1:19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Genesis 1:23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Genesis 1:31 - "... And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."

Thus in days 1-6 "the evening and the morning" constitute a day, even as Jesus stated:

Joh_11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

Notice that there are "twelve hours in the day", and "day" in this instance is defined as "see the light of this world", which is the Sun, since Christ Jesus is the Sun of Righteousness in Malachi 4:2. Thus there are also "twelve hours" in the "dark" part of the "day", since the ways of God are "equal" (Ezekiel 18:25,29). The 24 Elders also correspond to this in Heaven also, but that is another study.

Thus so too the Sabbath, begins in darkness, moves into the light portion and ends in darkness, just as Jesus was placed into the tomb as the sun was about to set and rested the whole period of the sabbath (in spite of what G.E. postulates).

Genesis 1:1-3 begins in night/darkness, and light comes afterward. Thus the next day begins with darkness, followed by light.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
By YOUR flawed logic a "twelve hour day" would mean that the Sabbath ENDS at sunrise.

You need to be able to understand the language of Scripture. Gen 1:5 explicitly states that the Light was called "Day" and the Darkness was called "Night".
This is why MOST translations make it CLEAR that there was "evening" and the "morning" came, it was describing were TWO SEPARATE days. "And then came" the morning ISN'T part of the SAME day. It illustrates that a previous day is over and a NEW day has arrived . . .

You cannot see what you are doing by saying what you are saying (even as it is error). You just proved G.E. right in his theology. You just made Christ Jesus resurrect on Sabbath rather than the first day of the week, for He (Jesus) arose "before sunrise", before it was daylight, before morning.

Mat 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

Mat 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Mar 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

Mar 16:2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

Mar 16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

Luk 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

Luk 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

Luk 24:6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

Joh 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

When you say that "evening" is part of a previous day, since it is the "dark" part, you just added another day into Genesis also, that existed before the "first day", since the world began in darkness.

Not only did you just break Genesis, you also broke the resurrection.

And herein lies the problem with you Biblical literalists.

Earlier, YOU posted a verse where Jesus mentioned that a "day" was 12 hours. He was merely talking about the time that the sun shined - NOT an entire day. An ENTIRE day includes the morning and evening - of the SAME day. When it is still dark at 1:00 in the morning - it is STILL part of that same day.

You simply refuse to accept the the Sabbath was NOT mentioned until it was introduced as a holy day is in Exod. 16:23, where God gives the Israelites instructions for gathering manna, which prefigures the Eucharist (John 6:28-59).
So, here we go arguing about what a "day" is - and we'll KEEP going in circles because you have been brainwashed by your sect and its false prophetess . . .

When it is still dark at 1:00 in the morning - it is STILL part of that same day.
You still do not see what you are doing? That makes Jesus resurrected on Sabbath. Follow your logic:

morning - evening - 6th day (Jesus dead on the cross, placed in the tomb.)

morning - evening - the 7th day ("When it is still dark at 1:00 in the morning - it is STILL part of that same day.") - the 7th day (Jesus in the tomb, but gets up before the sun is up or even out or even visible)

morning (sunrise) - evening - the first day

See, you just agreed to G.E.'s theology.

The Bible's logic:

evening - morning - which day closes with sun set (leading into the next days evening) - 5th day (Last Supper in Upper room and Gethsemane)

evening (arrested, trials, &c) - morning - which day closes with sun set (leading into the next days evening) - 6th day (Jesus dead on the cross, placed in the tomb.)

evening (Jesus still dead) - morning - which day closes with sun set (leading into the next days evening) - the 7th day (Jesus in the tomb still dead, 24 hours)

evening (Jesus arises some time before sunrise, the same time he always gets up) - morning (sunrise; Jesus already left the tomb, women show up) - first day of the week

Goodbye.
I heard that CAF is closing at the end of this month. Praise the Lord. I have been banned so many times from there, as they couldn't address what I said either, nor the many sources, and they thought it better to be rid of me. Well, I am still there, even currently, at least until it closes, hopefully for good.

WRONG.

You are purposely conflating the reckoning of a day at Creation to the reckoning of a day within the Law.
This is caused by the fact that you refuse to accept that the Sabbath wasn't created until Exod. 16:23 - and it was done so for MAN (Mark 2:27).

Like I said before - this argument will NEVER have a resolution as long as you remain a willing participant in the false doctrines of your 19th century man-made sect.

I would suggest you consider the passage that tells you God is not found in structures built by man.
Jesus was God, "Emmanuel=God with us". God cannot double talk himself as Jesus. When God is not found in structures built by man/mortals, Jesus would not say to Peter bar Jonah to construct an edifice of stone and wood to house God's word and authority.

The Rock is found all through the old testament. The OT is the foundation of the new. The prophecies in the old are fulfilled in the new. God is the rock.
In Matthew 16 when Jesus spoke of building his church upon the rock, Jesus was saying Peter and the other disciples, would in fulfilling the great commission build the church of Christ, the Ekklesia, the individual holy spirit reborn regenerated faithful, on the Gospel good news of Salvation.

Salvation! Is the rock Peter and the disciples would build the church upon.

By bringing the good news to those who would feel led to believe, repent, be reborn, indwelt by holy spirit God, and saved by the grace of God, the rock. Salvation is of God and is by the grace of God offered to all the world as a covenant of immortal life.

In the time of Christ and also the old testament covenant, covenants, there are many in scripture, were sealed by blood.

Jesus death on the cross was to seal the new covenant of salvation. His resurrection after three days, three representing eternal life, informed his followers of the truth of the Salvation Gospel. Jesus conquered death. Though he died in the flesh he lived. The message Jesus delivered to the people during his ministry was proven true by Jesus' miracles and his death and resurrection. And furthered by his walking the earth after resurrection and for 40 days. Forty in Hebrew numerology represents transition or change; the concept of renewal; a new beginning.
Those who witnessed Jesus continuing his ministry after they witnessed his dying on the cross knew he was the Messiah. Because as he taught them, The Word conquers death.

Ancient Hebrews were persecuted. As a result symbolism and related numbers became part of their language, their communications. And this in order to avail themselves of privacy and safety from those who would seek to persecute them for their beliefs and existence. Everything Jesus did, all that he taught and which was very often a retelling of the old testament parables the people knew about, was to deliver a deeper message than just words. Words, acts, as the number three figured prominently in Jesus ministry, communicated in one way. The meaning behind the timelines, three, forty, twelve, were understood to go deeper in implanting the message into those who knew the language.

Just as in the case of baptism being an integral part of the message. No, baptism does not save, however baptism is a factor in the Gospel truth.
Jesus himself was baptized!
And as the people saw when he arose from the waters the holy spirit of God descended as a dove upon him. And it was then that his ministry began. It was after this that Jesus began to perform his miracles. It was that sign the people witnessed that would reiterate to them Jesus' message, be baptized and receive the holy spirit, the helper, who will lead you into all truth.

The Rock is not the RCC. The Rock is Christ who is The Word that Saves.
Matthew 7:24-27
Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

Psalm 78:35
They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God their redeemer.

Psalm 95:1
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

1 Samuel 2:2
“There is none holy like the Lord; there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.

I don't know what you're referring to there. Verse 22 of Matthew 16 does not say anything like that. Nor does chapter 22 of Matthew.

1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 4:5
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

1 Pet 3:20
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us!
(Ark of Noah a type of the church, member of Christ and his church and salvation by baptism!)
(Outside the ark all died and outside the church there is no salvation!)

Matthew 18:18
Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.

The apostles were not given authority to bind and loose as you suggest. Rather, Jesus is teaching his apostles to identify what has already been bound in heaven. In our time, we would call these men "subject matter experts." Such people are not given the power to change the laws of
God or innovate new ones. They have been given insight, wisdom, and experience such that they have been granted knowledge of God's will for mankind and the responsibility to disseminate that knowledge to the world.

Jesus Christ continues HIS ministry in His new covenant church thru Peter, the apostles, and their successors with the same mission, power, and authority!

Did anyone post this verse yet?
1 Corinthians 4:6
6Now, brothers and sisters, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.

2 John 1:12
Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

To God Be The Glory

peter is the rock the church is built on
Christ is also the rock of salvation

Fathers have care of their children, spiritual fathers care for our souls!
