Has it been considered that unless all is sold one cannot purchase this costly item?

Dabbling won't cut it.....yada yada becomes a hollow echo......and what is the point of a lamp with no oil?

I have often wondered about that of you, too.

But I also know that it is wrong to condemn a person because of what they may "believe."

We are told to leave them alone as they are doing good by their drawing attention to God and to Jesus.

Shalom

It is Jesus who told the parable.....or do we just consider it a nice story....you know, one to add to the yada yada?

God shed His own blood so that we could become "one" with this "Pearl".

The KOG is inside all the born again, as we are inside the KOG.

quite a few verses but maybe they will give hope. Your post “unless all is sold” makes me think of when the two held back part of the price of the land. Consider what is happening there as they lay all “being of One heart and of One Soul” at the apostles feet ...similar to those who laid their coats at Sauls feet when Stephen was stoned. Acts 22:19-20 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee: [20] And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

two laying at their feet...consider Saul and what is taking place in the stoning of Stephen. With Proverbs 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly: Acts 4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

Than to divide the spoil with the proud: And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

Then Paul’s “for whom I have suffered the loss of all things” and “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

......
Other verses to consider:

1 Peter 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament (aborning of the doctrine of God our saviour in all things Titus 2:10)of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Isaiah 57:15-21 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. [16] For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made. [17] For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. [18] I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. [19] I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord ; and I will heal him. [20] But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. [21] There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth (to revive)such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." Matt 13:45-46

How much is all?

"The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me." Matt 19:20-21

Would the young man have then been left with nothing if he had followed Jesus' advice? Would he not then have been perfect?

Perfect, that seemingly impossible goal, but it was within the young man's reach! Is it not also within our reach?

"And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27

"And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27

“For with God all things are possible” ...the with God “all things” are possible makes me think of: Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

2 Peter 1:5-7 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound (Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? Matthew 6:31), they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 19:8 And to her was granted (given)that she should be arrayed (clothed)in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Philippians 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Wherewithal shall we be clothed? Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

1 Peter 5:5... and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

All is possible within God's will! What is God's will and what is our own will? The person who has overcome all of the obstacles between himself and God has arrived at having his own will equal to God's, but who had done that among us?

Jesus said, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

When did he do that a man subject to temptations like all of us? Perhaps here on the third time through...:

"And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." Matt 26:39

The will of his flesh subject to temptation became equal to the Father's will. Can we do that? Can we, by the power of the Holy Spirit in us overcome our own will making our will equal to Him. Then who besides Jesus is an overcomer?

not me. I fail time and time again. God must be long-suffering, patient and enduring to continue to love me.
I believe that every one who really believes in God and has followed Him in any measure is an overcomer. When you first repented you overcame. As you have grown toward Him you have continued to overcome. How much remains to be overcome? As we overcome walking on our way toward God, our vision moves from as through a glass darkly toward that face to face vision...

When we do fail and fall, so long as we do not quit, but get rather get back up and go on... the process continues, the overcoming continues. Jesus did overcome it all, but he had some advantages over each of us. God knows that and works with us for as long as we do not stop working with Him. How much like Him can we be?

this has helped thanks. Love

Philippians 3:15-16 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. [16] Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

Philippians 3:15 Lexicon: Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you;

Philippians 3:15 Lexicon: Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you;
What we need is the perfect attitude and with the Holy Ghost in us that attitude is always at our fingertips. Why do we still stumble and fall after we have received the Holy Spirit? Because we still love or care about too many things in and of the world.

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." I John 2:15-16

Only with God's help can we overcome all of those things permanently. That is killing our beasts as per Solomon. Who and what can kill those beasts? The Holy Spirit of God in us... but caring about this and that in the world allows us still to quench the Holy Spirit in us so that we can do what we want. This should give us an idea of something to pray for...
"Help me Lord to never quench Your Spirit in me!"
"Help me Lord to kill all of my beasts!"
"Help me Lord to be perfect as You are perfect!"

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" Matt 7:7-11

How often should we ask or how long should we continue to ask the Lord to help in this...? Until it no longer draws us away from God!

"Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding." Prov 9:1-6

Remember also David's advice to his son, Solomon:

"And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever." I Chron 28:9
