The Ethiopian eunuch was an educated and well-informed proselyte. He was free to travel to Jerusalem for worship and had a copy of the OT Book of Isaiah, which tells us that his position with Queen Candace came with material benefits, since scrolls of OT Scriptures were costly and beyond the reach of many, as was possession of and travel by chariot.

Act 8:27-28 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, (28) Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

I haven't read all the posts so I don't know if this answer has been given already.

the apostles never taught “faith alone”

It might be of interest to @theefaith to add that a Sabbath keeping Christian church arose in Ethiopia as a direct result of this conversion and baptism, and it however did not have the sanction of the Pope in Rome...oh wait...there were no popes in Rome at that time. I guess then all those Ethiopian Christians weren't saved then not having a Pope to forgive them.

nice try
The eunuch submitted to the apostles

I like your post, but let me say-ask:

The Sabbath keeping 'Christian church' which made this claim (that it <arose in Ethiopia directly as the result of this conversion and baptism>) made <this claim>, itself? Or do other churches tell the story?

Then next, this alleged <<conversion and baptism>>... Where is it recorded? In Acts 8? Show me?

YOU MEAN without THE PRIEST . Not a priest . no priest on earth can save . BUT ONE IN HEAVEN SURE CAN .
JESUS . I can see now that you will preach ROME and have your hope in that dead end system of death .
It brings me much sorrow for you my friend . More than you know .
WE NEED JESUS , NOT ROME .

still must be taught by the apostles

acts 8:29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

This section is supposed to contain the actual <<conversion and baptism>>--

Verse 34, "And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?", is telling of the eunuch's genuine opinion of "this man", whether Isaiah OR Jesus : Question-mark! Is it disdain verbalised or faith confessed? In the eyes of the Eunuch "this man" was not much of a man.

Verses 35-36 don't allow Phillip much to say nor to get much attention from the driver who no sooner than he drove off, found water, and of Phillip's endeavour to preach Jesus came nothing further. No wonder verse 37 is an addition (not original).

Of <<conversion and baptism>> there is nothing to read, simply, so that the Lord saw fit to without delay transport Phillip somewhere else. Not much of a basis to found a church on.

did the apostles teach FACAGA? Or faith & baptism acts 8
How did the eunuch know about baptism?
Why does he desire it for salvation?

Don't know what FACAGA is...

How the Eunuch precisely knew of the WORD Baptism, is not in Scripture.

However...
Cleansing, Purifying with Water, Water immersion was not a new concept.

God revealing An expectation was not news.

Zechariah 13:
[1] In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

Not news... the Eunuch had a book of Scriptures, could read, had been in Jerusalem...Baptism was being talked about.
Scripture revealed the Eunuch could hear.

Precisely HOW he heard and knew is irrelevant. The fact is...He did know.

Why did the Eunuch desire Baptism for Salvation?
The Eunuch tells you in Scripture...
It would be a hindrance unto him to Not be Baptized.

So... eh...the OP has been answered by a non-catholic.....and not answered by a Catholic.

So? Who's arguing Against Baptism?
I'm not!

Its not a mystery.

Grace Alone ...applies to God.
Without Gods Grace...nothing else Holy IS manifested or Given a man.

Faith Alone ...applies to man.
Without Faith in a man...nothing else "Eternally Holy" IS manifested or Given a man.

You certainly can TRY to have Salvation, wisdom, Gods Seed, A Born Again Spirit, Forgiveness, Eternal Life, Truth, Works, Gods Spirit... without FAITH... and the result will be a Failure.
