Just something funny that popped into my head..

Was really bullied in my elementary and middle school days as the nerd. (Straight up Tweety Bird patched overalls with tye-dye velour shirts, glasses, inhaler, breakouts... you name it.) After I got out of that school, I swanned up - big time, and I was rocking it a little bit, at least in my head.

I got so desperate to let one of the girls who bullied me the most and played a false friend from school know that I "wasn't ugly anymore" that I called her up "just to say hi." She asked how I was doing and what I was up to now and I said, "I'm a model now."

In my head that was totally true. "I'm a model now."

And by "model" I actually meant my cousin and I were taking pictures in the back in the woods and we decided we looked super hot doing it so we decided that this is our job now and we were somehow going to profit off of this and become YouTube actresses. We made short comedy films all of the time and put them on DVD.

Didn't work out

Will check this out tonight! :D Seems I remember Wattpad from something. Can't remember from where. I think I was thinking about getting on it but I can't write fiction ever. Just doesn't come to me. That's a special talent!

Awww <3 Like all of this. Mad about your artwork being burned but it sounds like you came out of it and blossomed out of it overtime?

Truman!!! Haven't seen you around in forever and was wondering where you were!
I've been busy, among other things, getting to re-know my grown son, Joshua, my step-son, Caleb, their partners, and their children. I am so happy!

I wanted to be a forest ranger. But I had no education in burnt, forest management or any other related subjects... Started work in a bank. Hated it. Then clerk for an oil company. Then factory worker. Back to oil company as storeman. Then bus driver. All the above over a period of about 15 years. In the midst of all that husband and father.
Then a park ranger. About as close to forestry as one could get. 16000 hectares of native forest along with four large lakes...I was maintaining and building tramping and walking tracks. Living on site.
Changes in management forced redundancy. Then dairy farming. Now retired but working part time driving school bus. And now the most content I've ever been in my work. No pressure. Lots of fun. And can spend most of day with wife and family who live not to far away.
Funny thing. Retirement isn't something that as a kid we ever dream of... But I gotta tell you... It has a lot going for it.
Left any extra kids on your bus before, when you finished your route, you realised..oops....

Lol. Yes. Done a few u turns. To pick up and drop off. Particularly enjoy the excursions like the three hour drives to remote camping sites and sporting events. Been a very busy first term... All schools doing their excursions and events as quick as possible before any future covid lockdowns... Which I dare say are inevitable.

I wanted to be 3 things.... a mom, an artist, and a veterinarian.

I was always very artistic, and yet after my father burned a lot of my artwork when I was 14, that part of me went dormant and has never fully re-emerged except when I sketched something for my husband after we were married (the profile of a baby in between a man's praying hands). And several years later, I sketched a logo for his business cards. Several years later, I sketched a toddler girl sitting in Jesus's lap. I sure wish I knew where that was. I taught Highschool Art when my children were in school.

I loved animals and had a knack for taming feral cats when I was growing up. I had cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, parakeets, etc. I often felt alone and that my animals were the only ones who loved me. So naturally, I wanted to care for animals.

I also loved babies, and from a young age, was often placed in charge of caring for babies and the younger children in my family. But I remember caring for a baby boy named Derek when I was about 10 yrs old, and wishing in my heart and making it a life goal to take in all the hurting, abused, and abandoned babies and children in the world.

Soooo .... those were my wishes and what I wanted to be when I grew up.
Our dear sister even found a tiny white kitten and its eyes were still closed . She helped bottle feed the kitten .
Yep . I remember dear sister . I still remember Pepsi and the pups too .

My son said something a few years ago. "When I'm done with school and working at the job I need instead of the job that I actually wanted to do..." (Not sure where he got that idea from.)

I wanted to be a fashion designer. It was my big giant dream to go to The Art Institute of Seattle and eventually end up in Paris but I never actually did because I ended up pregnant instead, so I turned into a mom. I am still sewing, though. Just as part of being a mom.

Now I'm glad I didn't because I realize how unoriginal and cliche that is.

What about you?
Well I guess I met most of my interests from my earlier years...

I would not say I planned much for my future vocation(s). I did have specific interests and achieved most of them as an adult...

I was particularly interested in the Westerns especially the rifle that won the West...the 30.30 Winchester lever action and the Henry rifle varieties. I became a crack shot at the marksman level with military rifles and various handguns. I also became a 'good' Big Game seasonal hunter, especially in Montana...for elk, deer and antelope.

I was fascinated with the universe and the night sky that God made. I would find myself looking at the stars at night; many nights at peace with myself under the New Zealand clear night skies. I became interested in the science evidence/ theories of the origins of the Universe. Later in life I became an astronautical and aeorspace engineer as a military officer and afterwards as a civilian DoD contractor.

I was fascinated with the courage and discipline of some military leaders, holding the power of life and death in their hands. I became both an enlisted serviceman and a military officer. I became an ICBM Launch control officer of nuclear missiles.

I was very active playing sports - rugby and then soccer. I became a member of one of the San Jose amateur soccer league teams that became the foundation teams/members of the San Jose Earthquake once the professional MLS was created.

There was one interest I never mated later in life. I was fascinated in sci-fi alien and UFO movies and documentaries. I never connected with any vocation tracking UFOs or aliens....my wife though still calls me an alien....she is born from Ohio US...and she still does not understand me...

I wanted to be a choir director and a singer ever since I was little. I got to college as a music ed major and was sort of disappointed to learn I didn't want to be that. Then didn't know what I wanted to do!!! Choir director is a lot more "math" minded then you think. I just like to sing...children's ministry is my passion and love working at a faith based preschool. Has the best of both worlds of music too. Sing all the time to them.

@Tone, you gotta check this out sometime. I see it a little bit in between the things I hear about your ministry and your nomadic explorations. This video was a big comfort to me when I first lost my home.

Awesome, thank you, I'm gonna check this out in a bit!

Yeah, it is! I'm too old to see 40 as too old. I could literally and likely will at some point become a grandmother within the next three years. Seriously

Hmmmmmmmm....

;)

There's knowledge for knowledge's sake, which is destructive...

Then there's knowledge applied, which is wisdom...which is also dangerous...can be constructive/destructive...

And the there's wisdom used wisely, which is understanding...which is terribly dangerous, but only to evil, as it eradicates it...

...just some thoughts I had today...now I gotta apply it with understanding.

His Understanding.

Baseball?!!!
That surprises you? It was the late 70's and early 80's. Back then we played sports for fun... Mych more so than kids appear to do today (or so it appears. Except for hoops, I rarely see kids playing pickup baseball, football or soccer.) Most of my friends wanted to be pro athletes or rock stars.

naw... I could've gotten a scholarship to play in college and maybe then drafted. I lacked 3 small details in my baseball game: I couldn't catch, I couldn't hit, and I wasn't that strong in throwing. But other than that, I was pretty good!

Wow @FluffyYellowDuck , that video is really good...he is definitely burning the money and hunting for the treasure!

At my Bible study group last night that exact subject about giving when asked came up. A sister there said she qualifies her giving, by not doing it if she feels/knows the person will use it for their vices. I said exactly what the guy in the vid. said...if they ask me for it...I give it. The Messiah didn't ask us to screen or vet who we should give to. Also, the part about the money not really being needed and just trusting that He Will Provide hits home.

To be honest the only reason why I am saving up at this time, is for the ministry vision. I pretty much lived like that dude on the vid., and he is pretty much doing it, but I'd say that he would do even better if he had the resources to mobilize a whole team to do the same and to have the flair that will inspire the houseless community to rise!

It was a tie. My childhood family vacation one year was to Cape Canaveral Florida & NASA. And then Seaworld. I then wanted to be either an astronaut or an Oceanographer. Turned out I entered into interior design. And then due to an athletically competitive friend, massage therapy. Now I'm able to arrange Hubble sourced 3D murals with inset light fixture "animation", and floor to ceiling master saltwater aquariums. In a way I'm living the dream.

I don't understand all of that, but definitely interested in hearing/learning more. It sounds really cool! I could use some massage therapy myself dealing with these preschoolers this week. LOL.

It is cool you should talk about saltwater aquariums. I like to write haikus and blurbs and stuff and one I had was "dolphin shadows in the night, swam up the wall to the ceiling, into the light." Something like that. Kinda sounds like a dream or intro for a new story. :D I don't know where this stuff comes from. Just a gift I guess.
