I thought she only brought one child...I know a five year old got shot and is in critical condition.

In this day and age of so many mass shootings, that's wise. Especially for a peace officer to be prepared.

Yes. Like the small church in Texas a few years ago, a gunman entered the church and started shooting. Then an armed church goer took them down.

A friend of mine is part of a trained armed security team at his church.

We had a consultant (hired by the Methodist Conference) come in to assess whether we should have an armed security team. The consultant's conclusion was, given the age of our congregation, we'd get more bang for the buck if we trained a team to handle medical emergencies. Statistics show we're far more likely to have somebody get a heart attack during the worship service than to have an armed nutcase come in and shoot up the place. So far, the scorecard reads, Heart Attacks 2, Armed Nutcases 0. We have had a few disturbed folks wander in off the streets, but they were not a threat and allowed themselves to be escorted off the premises. They didn't need to be shot.

While my wife and I both have NC Concealed Carry Permits and have had formal training on how and when to use a gun, our pastor has made it clear she doesn't want weapons in the Sanctuary.

This will probably shock, even outrage most who call themselves Christians...
Jesus lived in an era where Rome oppressed the locals in Palestine. Rome subdued them at every turn. It was the hope of the nation Israel that this oppression would be cut short by the Messiah by a military defeat....yes, violence.

Jesus had other aspirations, in fact, when Peter pulled out a blade he was carrying in Gethsemane with the intent of murder he was just lucky he was out of practice and only sliced of an ear (pretty close nevertheless).
Did Jesus sanction his enthusiasm? Did Jesus rally the boys to defend him or themselves with violence?
What he said to Peter was, 'put your sword away, those who take up the sword will die by the sword' ...and he went and restored the severed ear of his enemy.

Guns in Churches? ....under the banner of the rhetoric of being protected? Surely that is an indictor where the heart of what is said is believed, lays.
Precisely in circumstances where threat to life and property is in ones face, how one responds is the indictor of who and what one truly believes in. (trusts)

I watched the news account and it made it sound like the shooter shot the kid. If she brought her kids with her then I'm thinking that a cop was shooting at her and missed and shot her kid who was prolly right beside her.

I wonder why they didnt say it was a cop who shot the kid?

EVERY large church has armed patrols consisting of current and retired law enforcement patrolling during services. The guns are out of sight on those without uniforms.

Just the way things have gone. Too much violence in the world. Ethiopian churches in Ethiopia usually have fully automatic weapons....to stop the grenade attacks.

as far as carrying Guns, I have mine with me at all times except at work where it is no allowed..

Thank God for the armed security personnel.

Had it happened in California rather than Texas, there would have been a massacre. Newsome pushed through a law ensuring places like schools, parks, playgrounds and churches are full of unprotected sitting ducks.

The law, signed by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, prohibits people from carrying concealed guns in 26 places including public parks and playgrounds, churches, banks and zoos.

I think the people at the top want to control gun ownership because they don't want resistance from us and want us to rely on them for protection. Everyday voters want gun control because they see something like this, see the word "shooting" and think banning guns would solve the problem. As we see in major cities that just makes law abiding citizens sitting ducks while criminals buy or even make arms illegally.

There were 48,830 total gun deaths in 2021, with 12,520 of those being homicides.
That year there were 625,978 abortion deaths. There were 49.998 times more abortion murders than gun murders. Help us all.
