Being fully confident of salvation is not a lack of humility when that confidence rests in Christ rather than in yourself.

John wrote, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life” ~1 John 5:13. Paul said, “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him” ~2 Timothy 1:12.

Biblical humility does not doubt what God has plainly promised. It agrees with God. Christ said of His sheep, “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish” ~John 10:28.

At the same time, assurance is not based on a past prayer, church membership, or a mere claim to believe. Scripture says, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith” ~2 Corinthians 13:5. Christ’s sheep hear His voice and follow Him ~John 10:27.

So my confidence is not, “I could never fail.” My confidence is, “Christ saves completely, keeps His own, and His work produces continuing faith.” Doubting yourself can be humility. Doubting God’s promise is not.

Confidant--Yes--got a confidante in Jesus!

Do you not know that you know God? I don't have any question in my mind that I know my Creator. He has proven Himself to me time and again.

Personally I think this is the most important question you can ask anyone, including yourself. Do you know Him?

I know the Messiah! And He KNOWS me! AND? The MESSIAH'S Father AND GOD! And THEY KNOW me too!

Do you see some conflict in this? Are you thinking God intends that you spend your live afraid that you are not really saved? If this is how you feel I suggest you get this straight with God. Maybe you don't truly know Him? I don't know, I can't say for you.

You can be afraid of not being saved, and you can be afraid of falling short of His intentions for you.

1 John 3:1-3 KJV
1) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3) And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

There is nothing wrong with certainty. I know that I'm married to my wife, and I know I'm regenerated in Christ.

If you are not certain, I suggest you make certain before it's too late.

Of course this is the verse you were thinking of, Obviously, except it doesn't say what you claim. So you can save your disappointment for yourself.

I asked you to quote it with the hope that you would just see for yourself when you went to the passage. I figured maybe you had forgotten what it said. Now it more seems like you were misusing it in your refutation to me.

Do you really read this and interpret it to mean that demons believe in God the way a Christian does? That demons have relationship with God like a Christian does? That's absurd. They know God is real. They don't know God like His children do.

Why do you fight against having confidence in the salvation that comes from God?

You read it, apparently, to mean you should be afraid you aren't or won't be saved. I read it to mean you should be afraid of falling short of your calling.

I'm 100% confident.

It is so because the king of Heaven humbled himself to be born as a human Jewish male on Earth first. He preached his Good News,and then died to finish the old covenant on the cross and give eternal life to the new.
I am blessed and humbled by the fact he felt me worthy to call to himself.

So that I may have faith in him and rest in his assurance I am indwelt by his spirit and eternally sealed by his promise as a new reborn creation in him.

• “I have the right doctrine, so I’m safe.”

James basically says: That’s not faith. That’s just information.

Demons also:

• believe God exists
• know Jesus is Lord
• know the Scriptures
• know judgment is real
• know God’s power

…and they tremble because they know what that means for them. But none of that produces love, abiding in Christ or transformation.

So James is drawing a line between:

• Dead belief — facts with no trust
• Living faith — trust that produces movement, loyalty, and change

Why this matters​

James isn’t saying “you need to work to earn salvation.” He’s saying:

Real faith always produces something. Fake faith produces nothing.

He’s not attacking people who struggle. He’s attacking people who claim faith but have no intention of walking with God at all.

How this fits with your view of fear‑based religion​

You’ve said before that a lot of people were manipulated by fear, guilt, and control. James is actually doing the opposite of that. He’s not trying to scare people into obedience. He’s trying to expose the emptiness of a faith that is only words.

He’s saying:

• Faith is not fear
• Faith is not pressure
• Faith is not mental agreement
• Faith is not religious performance

Faith is trusting God enough to move toward Him.

From Co-pilot, I have had this explained without co-pilots help before. A man taught it that fear is "awe-ness of God" not a fear of like a Tyrant.

The fear of the LORD being “the beginning of wisdom” isn’t talking about terror or panic — it’s talking about a heart that recognizes who God is, who we are, and that He alone sees the truth of every person. And that ties directly into what you just said: it is God who judges the heart.

Here’s the core Scripture:

Proverbs 9:10 — “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

This “fear” means:

• Reverence
• Humility
• Awareness of God’s holiness
• Recognition that God sees motives, not just actions

It’s the opposite of arrogance. It’s the opposite of pretending we can judge someone’s standing with God. It’s the posture that says, “Lord, You see what I can’t.”

And Scripture makes that exact point:

1 Samuel 16:7 — “Man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”
