What people who think that the Bible alone is the way to go ignore:1. The Bible didn't exist until hundreds of years after Christ. 2. The average person could not read the bible for over a centruy after that. Hmmm.. sort of difficult for God to guide His people, dont'cha think? They can't read - they don't own Bibles. I guess he's up there in heaven scratching his head saying, "Houston, we have a problem." Nope. Only kidding. When Jesus left his disciples He didn't hand out Bibles and say, "Now pass these out and tell the followers to read it and figure it out for themselves. THAT would be ridiculous because of #1 & #2. Instead, he said, "Upon this rock (PETER) I build my Church. Hello? Not a Bible to guide the people.. but a Church. So toss out your Bibles. No, kidding again. You DO however need HIS CHURCH that HE (Jesus) established to understand HIS word. Because what happens when we all, claiming the Holy Spirit as our guide" go it alone? It becomes your opinion VS. mine vs. Kriss vs. Pariah vs. Denver vs. Jag vs. Jehovah's Witness vs. Mormon vs. Methodist vs. Lutheran vs. non-denom etc. etc. etc. What a mosh pit of confusion. And God is a God of order, not confusion. Spend 5 minutes poking around on this site and you'll find a bunch of people who disagree about what the Bible says. Do you really think that THIS is what Jesus intened when he prayed for unity? You're not looking very unified about much, I gotta tell ya. Besides, sola scriptura isn't even IN the Bible. Show me the verse where God says the Bible alone is to be our guide. ps. To my brother goldy: Happy third Sunday of Advent! I hope you had a joy-filled day!

What is up with you?1. The Bible alone is what we need... the KJV is God's inspired Bible. And the Holy Spirit to guide us. We need no man to teach us...as no man can not speak Truth without Him.2. You have no idea today at all that most churches whatsoever that teaches false doctrines. Didn't Christ said not to be deceived?3. Before God created the Bible....there was only hearing of the Word of God. Nowadays we can read the Word of God.4. Upon this rock...You say that is Peter? Nope... Upon this rock... this is Christ. As Christ is my Rock. And He is the Word of God.5. I'm more into fellowshipping with Christians...to speak Truth. Not to go to a church and have a pastor to tell us what to believe.Jag

Jag,1. Please show me in the Bible where it says that the KJV is THE "inspired" Bible. 2. I whole-heartedly agree with this one. Ever since Martin Luther broke away, people have left the true Church that Jesus Christ himself ordained for a counterfit one that suits their own personal whims / opinions. It's very sad. Jesus' last words to His disciples were to be unified. 30,000 Protestant denominations, not to mention all of you sincere folks who don't even consider yourselves a denomination, but rather, go it alone. So much for unity.

3. And do you really think that the disciples just "spoke the word" without explaining it? Heavens no. They had to guide the people so that they would understand. We read in Acts 8 : (and I'll even use the KJV just because I know you like it best!) 30And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.4. Ummm.. actually Christ was speaking to Peter when He said Upon this Rock (Peter) I will build my church. Go read it. I'm glad Christ is your "rock" or the foundation of your faith (as he should be.) He'd like you to come to His Church though.

5. Well, if this is all about you, by all means.. do whatever you want. I'm interested in being obedient to God which means being obedient to the Authority He established.

The church is christian NOT CATHOLIC Peter was never a Catholic per say he was leader of the new Christian church which held little to no resemblence to todays catholics futher more Peter was not the rock the christian faith was built on Matthew 16:18 "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."Now instead of calling Simon Bar-jone, Jesus has given him a new name, Peter. Peter means Rock. The Rock is the foundation that the church is built on; and that Rock is Jesus Christ. Jesus is telling Peter that it is on the Rock of Jesus Christ that His church is built, and even the gates, or powers of Hell, Satan and his systems can not prevail against Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was foretold as the "foundation-stone" in Isaiah 28:16; "Therefore thus saith the Lord God, "Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste." Jesus is that corner stone, precious and tried, and those that know Him, will wait on Him, and His return at the appointed time, and not make haste to follow the fake that comes first. Jesus fulfilled the role to perfection, for He is the only begotten of the Father. There are many conflicts over this one verse, as one church states our church is built of Peter, who was the founder of our Church, which was true in the Smyrna and Philadelphia. They miss the doctrine of this verse. Christ is the immovable rock [Petra], in the Greek. The church is the assembly of believers wherever they are, they are the elect of God, and not some building on a corner, or the intricate system that does it's business inside those walls. The church are the body of believers, of which there are many members, which have many different tasks to do, all within that one body of believers. and all the disagreements are mens not God's and we may disagree on some things but you ask any of us who our Rock is none will answer Peter we know our Rock is Christ and any church that thinks it wrong to Study Gods words over men Let God alone be thier thier Judge.
