Snow forecast maps for 10am Tuesday and 10pm Tuesday night, at the moment snow is forecasted down to 400m for Tuesday into Wednesday morning I believe, if we are lucky might even be in for a chance for snow flurry here at home, but it would have to fall down to 230m asl, it's not impossible though, just need right temperature and precipitation at the right time, my block of land being about 330m asl is in for a better chance, but it's more than 5km away so with new covid-19 restrictions I cannot go to it, anyway check out that snow coverage forecasted for Victoria and Tasmania, I am expecting quite a low level snow line on those mountains. ;)

@Cristo Rei @marksman @Scoot @Backlit do any of you live on a mountain or hill? If you do get snow remember to share some pictures. :D

I used to live in a house that overlooked Mt Baw Baw and we could always see the snow on it from there, but where I am now the snow is a none event. When I lived in England there were times when you could not leave the house because you were snowed under. On one occasion when I was a sales rep I had to do all my work via the phone because I could not leave the house for a week because the roads were undrivable.

I remember my kids loving it and lying on the top of the snow that was knee-deep.

On another occasion, after I had left Bible College, I got a temporary job as a Taxi Driver. Again the road was nigh impassible and the only vehicles on the road were our taxis.

Mt Dandenong and Mt Macedon usually get some snow.
My annual trip to Mt Hotham doesn't look like its going to happen due to the Daniel Andrews' lockdown which is doing much more harm than good

I saw it's now down to 300m in Western Victoria in the latest forecast, with possible sea level snow in Tasmania, so possibly the whole of Tasmania might see some snow tomorrow.

Well it was a bit disappointing what the weather bureau were making it out to be for this part of Victoria at least. Didn't check with the binoculars, but there was only a little bit of snow up the top of a 1000m+ mountain by 8:45am it disappeared quite quick the lower stuff, as it looked like there was some pretty low snow dusting at 7am maybe just about 200m above the Redwood Forest whether if it melted or just blew off the trees I don't know, I think it melted, I went back to bed though hahaha, I saw reports that Western Vic had snow falling down to 100m though and reports of covering in Colac.

But never know maybe there will be more snow for the mountains around here.

Icy blast: Parts of Victoria blanketed in snow!

I remember surfing in NZ (WHEN I WAS CONSIDERING YOUNGER) and there was snow on the beach. Considering this is mid winter, I'm finding it totally bearable.

This is an extreme weather event for Victoria, New Zealanders might laugh at it though lolz. Snow at "proper low" elevations is a rare thing, sea level snow is almost impossible for Victoria, but has happened a few times. They might call snow at MT Dandenong low level snow, but really MtD is 633m (2076ft) above sea level.

Really 200m above sea level and lower is a real rare event though. And towns like Colac were pretty lucky to receive snow, it does tend to snow lower in the western part of the state and West and South Gippsland though in low level snow events.

One of my fellow bus drivers just got back from Mt Dandenong and it was snowing there an hour ago.

Smog is expected to move in late Tues heightening the usefulness of Covid masks, followed by a 7.1 mag. earthquake causing many to depopulate the Los Angeles area and reducing the smog levels for Wed.
On the bright side of things, we are having global cooling...at least in Los Angeles.

Not really. Day temps are known to stay as low as 10 and night temps can get as low as 1

Only 2.6c in Laverton, Victoria and 3.4c in Avalon, Victoria, if any precipitation falls right now I am thinking very low level snow, close to sea level.

Not much lower than 500 meters around Melbourne. Mt Dandy and Mt Macedon. Ive never seen snow in the burbs.
I have seen hail, so much hail that it looked like the ground was covered in snow.

This is the Mt Macedon memorial cross at the summit

It snowed in Sunbury today, now that is rare, you don't have to join the group to see this post.

Isn't that a saying about the weather in Victoria. Cold one day and icy the next. Visit Victoria the place for fickle weather. Today it is 6 degrees top here.
