Something worse than depersonalizing is the dehumanization of your fellow man who gets maimed by this virus.

Today 6 of the Tennessee Titans tested positive for covid-19...

So the Minnesota Vikings have gone into quarantine.

I wonder if this will change how Trump and many Republicans think about masks? Remember how Trump mocked Biden over wearing a mask?

Joe is hiding in a bunker, alone... wearing a mask. Photo's of him driving a convertible with the top down, out in the country, with a mask on... all alone! Who is he protecting?

If you are living at all, you have to go get groceries (Joe doesn't grocery shop), you have to get things done outside (Joe hides in the basement). Joe has money to live on and people to take the risks for him.

What about those who cannot work their business? What about people like me that have to take risks by publicly being around people to make money to pay my bills and eat?

Anyone, to include Trump, are at increased risk the more public contact that they have.

To show the effectiveness of masks, ask yourself how it still smells when you fart through a layer of underwear and pants. Viruses are smaller than what masks can filter.

While masks can "reduce" exposure, they are not a panacea.

I thought it was only a matter time before Trump contracted COVID because of all the people he's around everyday and he travels a lot.

You're right. It's a surprise he didn't catch it before now. The biggest plus I can see in it is that he has really good health care.

I'm waiting to see how many, if any, people who attended the fundraiser at his golf club in New Jersey may catch it. Who is running his campaign? Or do smart people offer him advice which he ignores? I can't imagine a campaign manager approving Trump's going ahead with that fundraiser.

Trump Team Knew of Hicks’ Positive Test—but Went Ahead With Golf Club Fundraiser

Just hours before President Trump announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19, he was mingling with supporters at a fundraising event held at his New Jersey golf club—and even posed for personal photo-ops with them.

The event went ahead after the White House learned that one of the president’s closest aides, Hope Hicks, had tested positive for the disease, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows confirmed Friday.

Meadows said they learnt of Hicks’ positive test on Thursday night, “right as Marine One was taking off” for the New Jersey golf club. He said some people who’d had close contact were pulled off the flight.

“I’m not going to get into the tick tock,” he said Friday when reporters asked why Trump still attended the fundraiser despite being exposed to the virus.

Trump was last seen in public Thursday afternoon, when he headed home to the White House after the fundraising trip to Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. Ahead of that event, attendees were promised a photo-op with the president, and Trump was due to meet with the winner of a raffle organized to raise funds for his campaign. Despite Hicks’ positive result, the event went ahead as planned.

The Daily Beast found a Facebook post of one woman, finance executive Patricia Bosisio Schechter, who said she had her photograph taken with the president at the ritzy event. She wrote: “As for all of you who have expressed concern for me, thank you for that. We were with him literally 30 seconds for our photo and other than that never close to him.” She added that she was “praying” for Trump to pull through his illness.

On top of the personal photo-ops, local reports state that the roundtable event with dozens of supporters went ahead despite knowledge of Hicks’ infection, and Trump delivered a droplet-spraying speech. According to The Washington Post, Trump didn’t wear a mask at the golf club, or on the plane back to Washington, D.C. The president then announced he’d tested positive after he had returned to the White House.

Trump maliciously mocked Biden for wearing a mask and now Trump has tested positive for COVID. I wonder how many people he and his wife have put at risk by exposing them to COVID. I'm curious to know how long he and his cohorts waited to reveal that Hicks had tested positive.

It's as if Trump thought he was invulnerable. Remember what he said at the debate?

Trump Forgets Herman Cain Died, Says ‘No Problems’ From Rallies

President Trump seemed to forget that his campaign rallies may well have caused the death of one of his major supporters while saying the events where masks were optional caused “no problems.”

During the first presidential debate, in which President Trump and challenger Joe Biden spent at least the first 30 minutes bickering back and forth, moderator, Fox News' Chris Wallace brought up the large rallies that Trump hosted as opposed to the much smaller events Biden has had.

“So far we’ve had no problems whatsoever,” said Trump, while boasting that people were flocking to see him. But one person who contracted coronavirus and died soon after was businessman and former presidential candidate Herman Cain.

The 74-year-old cancer survivor was in attendance at Trump’s Tulsa rally on June 20 and died June 30. At least eight Trump advance team staffers who attended that rally in Tulsa also tested positive for coronavirus.
It was more than Herman Cain, too. I'd say that rally helped cause the surge in cases in Oklahoma -- and possibly in Texas too.

Health official: Trump rally 'likely' source of virus surge

President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa in late June that drew thousands of participants and large protests “likely contributed” to a dramatic surge in new coronavirus cases, Tulsa City-County Health Department Director Dr. Bruce Dart said Wednesday.

Tulsa County reported 261 confirmed new cases on Monday, a one-day record high, and another 206 cases on Tuesday. By comparison, during the week before the June 20 Trump rally, there were 76 cases on Monday and 96 on Tuesday.

Although the health department’s policy is to not publicly identify individual settings where people may have contracted the virus, Dart said those large gatherings “more than likely” contributed to the spike.

“In the past few days, we’ve seen almost 500 new cases, and we had several large events just over two weeks ago, so I guess we just connect the dots,” Dart said.

Apparently, many of his followers do not seem to care when he puts them at risk. It seems obvious to me that he cares only about himself; but his followers seem so devoted to him, nothing could sway them. They remind me of lemmings -- no one should be surprised if five, six or even seven Republican Senators lose elections this year after being too partisan in supporting Trump. I haven't been following many House races, but I expect the Democrats to increase their numbers there too.

Trump wore a mask on the way to the hospital...
Where he is getting remsedivir and antibody treatments.

Apparently they want him to have the lightest case possible...but he is 74 and overweight.
And he doesn't get outside much for vitamin D.

Days 8-10 of being sick are the crucial days...they show whether you are getting better or worse.

If I can hazard a guess...they are probably going to have to phone in the next debate.

But I don't know. There's a whole world of stuff that is possible but not likely.

No one can PROVE that Herman Cain contracted the virus at a rally just like no one can PROVE that Trump contracted it BECAUSE he didn't wear a mask. You guys remind me of vultures!

Thanks.

Yes, the doctor's comment about 72 hours raised eyebrows. Then he backtracked and said he meant the third day. What is with these people? They're supposed to be intelligent. Are we expected to think they can't put their thoughts into words without bumbling? Maybe Dr. Conley should be running for President. Both Biden and Trump bumble along at times -- and look where it got them. Maybe Conley should give up medicine and run for President.

The two Republican Senators on the Judiciary Committee (as well as one who isn't) should worry the people who want the Supreme Court nominee approved before the end of the year. Barrett herself was at that event where almost no one was wearing masks. I wonder if she'll escape being infected. She's already been exposed at least once -- is holding a committee hearing a good idea? At this point, I'm wondering if other Republicans on the Judiciary Committee were exposed. I assume they've been tested; but it's hard to predict how the coronavirus behaves. It can show up rather fast, or it can lurk for a while before symptoms show up or even before a test catches it.

At this point, I'm beginning to wonder if the Senate will be able to convene with enough members to do business. McConnell already postponed some business when the news that Johnson also had caught the virus. Ha, maybe the Democrats could conspire to get sick themselves, so there wouldn't be a quorum to confirm Barrett.

These are the people we trust to handle the coronavirus for the nation?

Now then...

For those (including myself) who were concerned about the safety of a vaccine...

Apparently the raw data of the trials will be made public.
And then reviewed by leading researchers in the field of immunology.

Usually a meeting is called for two weeks after the data has been made public.

But the unique thing this time is that since it's not going to be held in person...not all atennders of the meeting will have to do so live...they can make their thoughts known as soon as they review the data. Nothing is going to be hidden...no secret meetings. No collusion of pushing something through that doesn't work.

Then...
Because of the limited supply of vaccines...
(And they are going as fast as they possibly can) there is going to be a pecking order for getting the vaccines.
Medical personel are first.
First responders are next.

But.

With the other coming vaccines...
And the huge batches.

By summer to late summer there should be enough vaccines to go around for everyone that wants one.

Even in OZ there ought to be enough vaccines to go around.

If oranges can get from field to table inside of 10 days from halfway around the world...

Really? That sounds good, but can anyone believe any of these so-called experts after all the (a) misdirection, (b) misinformation and disinformation, (c) obfuscation, (d) deliberate manipulation of data, (e) plain lies, and (f) plain nonsense, that has been going on, not only since January, 2020, but since flu vaccines were created?

As soon as some truth comes out, the mainstream media and the social media make sure that it is censored, so that only the Leftist narrative is seen. And Chinese nationals are directly involved in this censorship, as are Chinese researchers attempting to mislead the world.

Even you will have access to the data...

Currently data is being made available for the failures too... including all the HCQ failures and other failures up to this point.

"catastrophic" now, jesus already
how many of your family have died from c19 so far this year
pls turn off the news sir

i wouldnt shame anyone for wearing a mask, but at the same time our economy is how we eat, and pay the rent? And of course we will get no reliable estimate of the increase in suicides and other stress-related deaths from "social distancing" and mask-wearing, which you gotta admit is extremely depersonalizing.

the opposite end of the spectrum from
Greet each other with a kiss
seems to me anyway
Out again I see. Hope you will be back soon. You have the highest post count certainly, but I suspect that you rate quite high in excused absences as well. Are you excused then really?
