Retarded means turned back. You can turn back timing on a motor. A person with a learning disability is not turned back. They simply advance at a slower speed.
Please do not be offended. We have a govt that is suppose to represent the people, they would like to turn back the time to Rulers and subjects.

My child did not talk words till she was 3, because of her deafness. After 10 years, of credit I give to her practicing, patience with me, she speaks like any Hearing person, reads lips, and strangers have no clue she is deaf. Kindergarten teacher discussed my son with Staff, Principle, nurse, and Then me, suggesting I hold my son BacK In K ...
He knew address, phone number, how to count money, colors, write read a little, things before he even started school...why such a suggestion from his teacher???

Sorry you were not prepped to deal with the name calling. My deaf Child went to hearing schools ...little kids are brutal ... they teased her and she had come backs. They tried to chastise her because her best friend was black. My daughter came home and asked me why kids were mean to her brown friend. I said because they don't know her, you do, you play together after school. Tell the mean kids to buzz off or be nice, ya"ll are going to play ...all., NOT just THEM.
It's a bit by bit journey and the ones teasing...were no different...they had issues too, all kids do. They hide them. Pee the bed, crap their pants, have a drunk dad...
