Is it biblical? - What does that even mean?

Yes. This is exactly my point. We don't have to agree with a doctrinal position for it to be biblical. For a position to be biblical, it simply requires biblical support. But we see this quite often on the forums. A position declared unbiblical simply because the opponent disagrees. [

The "Yeah, but..." school of doctrine - Bible versus Bible

We have all been there. You present your doctrinal position and give biblical support for it. The response is, "Yeah, but..." and then your "opponent" gives their differing doctrinal position with biblical support. So basically, Bible versus Bible. (who will win?) Ironically, the WORDS "Yeah...

Reader Poll - Would you be a Christian if there was no afterlife?

So, salvation by works? (as a reward) What if it is a scam perpetrated by the church? In that case death would be a reward. [

Reader Poll - Would you be a Christian if there was no afterlife?

So, are you saying that if there was no afterlife you would not follow Christ? [

Reader Poll - Would you be a Christian if there was no afterlife?

When they take the power tools to you and begin cutting off your limbs, will you not deny the Lord? [

Is it biblical? - What does that even mean?

LOL It appears the scriptures do say those things. Is it unbiblical? [

Is Truth Relevant? True and False are opinions. - True or False?

Absolute truth - Do we know what it is? Jesus said to Pilate, "... the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?" - (John 18:37-38) Still a good question. Absolute truth - Do we know...

Is it biblical? - What does that even mean?

Here's a testimony you might enjoy. I was on another forum years ago where a man was having a rant which ended in an absolute fit by writing this: "... consult with your Holy Spirit and get back to me!" Yikes! It was a real scorcher of a post. Had to wear oven mitts to read it. - LOL I was...

The Church decided the canon. How do you know you have the correct canon?

That's interesting, thanks. The Pentecostals I fellowship with aren't much for Pentecostal history outside of our own denomination. I have encountered latter rain individuals online, but never felt akin to their ideas. The scripture you quoted from Acts is viewed as taking place then and there...

Is it biblical? - What does that even mean?

How can you say it isn't? References were provided. Definitely a bad idea, but not unbiblical. The point of the joke is that we need to be careful with the Bible. [

Is it biblical? - What does that even mean?

LOL It might not be the best decision. But you did provide a reference. How can I say it isn't biblical? That's the point. [

The Church decided the canon. How do you know you have the correct canon?

One 2 question said: Why would the maturing church, the grown up body of Christ want to go back to its infancy stage? Drinking breast milk. Crawling on all fours. Speaking gibberish. Good question. I agree with you that Pentecostalism is a return to the ways of the early...

Is it biblical? - What does that even mean?

Be it true or false, isn't all doctrine biblical? Doctrine is man-made. It comes with biblical "proof-texts". So, how could doctrine ever be unbiblical? Is it biblical? - What does that even mean? --- PARODY --- Christian #1: Your beliefs aren't biblical. Christian #2: Say what? Christian...

The Church decided the canon. How do you know you have the correct canon?

Well said. Having read some of the early church writings that didn't make the cut, I'll have to say that the 66 book canon hit the mark. That being said I think the question about whether God wanted us to have a Bible at all is a good question. For the most part this has led to a dependence...

What's so great about Jesus? (seriously) ???

Will we be fully-divine then, like Jesus? Or was there another reason why He was resurrected? [

Is Swearing a Violation of the Ten Commandments? - No. - Well, maybe... ???

Agree. My only point is that the Commandment isn't. [

The Bliss of Religious Homeostasis - Don't Rock the Boat

Religious homeostasis is possible in any number of Christian denominations. Nothing to do with doctrine, just a state of comfort with it. IMHO It has more to do with a static relationship. Not a willingness to move outward from it. I have launched a number of topics on the subject of Doctrinal...

Does the inclusion of the Sabbath prove that the Ten Commandments were for Israel alone?

Why is that? Why are we not to judge that decision? Seems we could judge the covetous, and a number of other sins. [
