  1. St. SteVen

If everyone agreed, there wouldn't be much point to a forum - Agree, or disagree? - LOL

Even though the early church was? Acts 2:44 NIV All the believers were together and had everything in common. [

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

Not at all. I believe in personal accountability. But I believe that God's purpose in it is correction and restoration. Not pointless and endless punishment. That doesn't resolve the sin issue at all. Acts 3:21 NIV Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as...

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

Who are you to declare what God meant? [

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

I don't buy the idea that God poured out His wrath on His only-begotten. As I understand it, Jesus paid our death penalty. It was a simple transaction. It didn't require God's anger to be poured out on the obedient Son that He loved. Why would God the Father be angry at God the Son? Being...

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

That saw cuts both ways. [

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

Isn't that what God's mercy is? We tend to forget that mercy is also justice. [

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

Sounds like the playground bully that beats the snot out of anyone smaller than he is. Because they obviously don't measure up. [

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

Aionios mistranslated as "eternal" or "everlasting" in Matthew 25:46. All these verses below use the same NT Greek word, "aionios", the Greek word mistranslated as "eternal" or "everlasting" in Matthew 25:46. See bold below. This shows that "aionios" cannot mean eternal or everlasting...

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

No, I don't blame God. I blame humankind for creating a god that is a tyrant. I believe in responsibility for sin. But that it warrants God's mercy, not everlasting wrath. Shouldn't the consequences fit the crime? [

What did Jesus die to save us from?

What translation is that? I can't find one that omits the "What if" at the beginning of verse 22. ??? Perhaps YOU omitted it? (changes the whole meaning) [

What did Jesus die to save us from?

Should I leave room for God to be hard-hearted in Word and action? [

What did Jesus die to save us from?

    Not the case. [

What did Jesus die to save us from?

Do you believe that God will punish me with the blazing fury of His anger and wrath for such a transgression? [

What did Jesus die to save us from?

Here's the Greek. Notice the "What if". [
  15. St. SteVen

What did Jesus die to save us from?

Perhaps what is wrong is your understanding of it. The NIV makes verse 22 a "what if" question. And verse 23 shows the outcome as "objects of his mercy". (whom he prepared in advance for glory) Romans 9:22-24 NIV What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known...
  16. St. SteVen

What did Jesus die to save us from?

Again, seems like a poor word choice. In the Nehemiah verse, God is "terrible" because He "keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:" ??? What's terrible about that? In Psalm 47:2 God is "terrible" because He is "a great King over all the earth." ...

What did Jesus die to save us from?

Yes. Fear was the appropriate word. But fear of what or whom? I imagine people were avoiding Peter after that. And the lost were avoiding the church. Not an attractive feature that people are dropping dead. I wouldn't put it on the Facebook page. [

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

Also reminds me of the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to go after the one and carry them home. [

The Wrath of God - How is it love?

It will probably be unpleasant for the one receiving it. And also for those that witness it. Every nation, leader and individual will stand in judgement. (evaluation) There will be rewards, correction, restoration and redemption. IMHO The ultimate triumph of grace. [
