Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Hmm, eternal death where nobody ever dies. o_O Some people will believe any old nonsense!

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

So you don't follow the examples of the Apostles who would strive to correct people if they were misunderstanding the Gospel that the Apostles preached? That doesn't seem like the correct Christian attitude!

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

You're mixing up Scripture verses which are talking about different things and assuming that they're talking about the same thing, hence the confusion. Those spirits are not humans, they're fallen angels. Jude 1:6 (WEB): (6) Angels who didn’t keep their first domain, but deserted their own...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Then why are you participating in this forum if you think that all we need to do to understand the Scriptures is simply read them? As the apostle Peter explained, some of the Scriptures are hard to understand, and we need help in our studies of them in order to correctly understand them. 2...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

You do realise that Jesus went to hell? Was he tortured too? Acts 2:25-32 (WEB): (25) For David says concerning him, ‘I saw the Lord always before my face, For he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved. (26) Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover my flesh also...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

(Final part of article about the Lazarus parable.) The Rich Man's Brothers Next, the Rich Man, again addressing Abraham, asks for Lazarus to go to his father's house to warn his five brothers, that they not come into the place of torment he was in. (Luke 16:28) In the years 67-68 CE many Jews...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

(Continuation of article about the Lazarus parable.) The Death of Lazarus In the context of this parable Jesus said the following: "The Law and the Prophets were until John. Since then the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it." (Luke 16:16) To those who view this...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Yes I will keep holding on to my beliefs, as long as nobody can convince me that I have incorrectly understood the Scriptures. :) Here's an article about the Lazarus parable that I saved from a newsgroup discussion 23 years ago. It's long so I'll have to split it up into several posts. It is...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

On the contrary, to say that hell is a literal place of eternal torment goes against the Bible! The Luke 16 passage is a parable, telling a story that the "Pharisees, who were lovers of money" (verse 14), would understand. Note that Jesus did not apportion any sin to the rich man - he just...

Okay, I've got to ask - why do you keep typing Onesmith when the guy's name is Onesimus?

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Eze 28: (18) By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your commerce, you have profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought out a fire from the middle of you. It has devoured you. I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all those who see you. (19)...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Well we certainly shouldn't believe you when you claim that "Christians know that Jesus taught more about Hell fire than eternal life" (post #656) if you can't prove it. It seems that you are so lacking in confidence in your claim that you haven't event attempted to try to prove it. This...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

No. I've never been to a Kingdom Hall. By your response it looks like you can't prove what you claimed. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV): (21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

It's amazing how people can be very familar with a verse, and yet seem blind to what it says. I'm thinking in particular about John 3:16 (KJV), the most famous verse in the Bible (according to Most popular Bible verse in the world): (16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

No, I don't believe in the Trinity.

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

I don't believe it. I challenge you to prove that. Jesus taught more about the kingdom of God and eternal life than he did about hell and burning in fire, and more about Gehenna than hades - he only mentions hades four times, whereas he mentions the kingdom of God around a hundred times.

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

There is 1,000 years set aside for teaching the truth, while Satan is locked up (Rev 20:2) to prevent him from deceiving mankind, and to change those bad people into good people. The resurrected Church will be working with Jesus to bless these people for 1,000 years (which is longer than...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

Psalms 146:4 (MKJV): (4) His breath goes forth; he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Eccliastes 9:5 (WEB): (5) For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything, neither do they have any more a reward; for their memory is forgotten. If all your...

Why Hell is not a place of eternal conscious torment.

But what is the punishment for sin? It's eternal death, not eternal life of physical torment/torture. Rom 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Eze 18:4,20 - The soul who sins, he shall die. Rev 20:14 - Death and Hades were...
