The curious case of John 5:4

Matthias, To recap.... If we lose faith due to losing confidence in the bible, it means we trusted THE BIBLE instead of GOD. Another point I'd like to make regards a post of mine in which I tagged in a few members on here but received no reply. It might have seemed off-topic, but really it...

Are Christians Better Off Being Ruled By Unbelievers?

The curious case of John 5:4

I agree. But do you agree that someone MUST believe that the earth was created in 6 days in order to accept the bible as truth? Is the earth only 6 thousand years old? Do serpents speak? The bible is full of truth even if it's not a science or history "book". Although it does contain science...

The curious case of John 5:4

One of the first things I learned as a new Christian was not to depend on feelings but to depend on the promises of God as found in the NT. Example: God leaves us HIS peace --- we have to learn what that means since there's not too much peace as I look around, and I mean in person's lives. He...

The curious case of John 5:4

Agreed. Wow! Where did A get this weird idea from? I just never heard of this. IF this were what the CC teaches, it would be a wonder ANY women are left there! LOL I don't know why the option of leaving a denomination was not open for @Matthias ' student. (not that it matters at this late stage).

Why do you believe that, after death, it's too late for Jesus to save people?

OK Right. Absolutely. It's speaking about judgment. Doesn't judgment come at the end of one's life? Verses 22-23 are speaking to the future judgment? Can't verses 25-27 be speaking about the dead that are released from Hades in Luke 15 The Rich Man and Lazarus...? I think we'll all be...

The curious case of John 5:4

Yeah. Matthew 1:25 is problematic for their theology. There's a new version of a Catholic commentary bible that has actually changed the wording of Matthew 1:25 - at least in the Italian version. I tried to get it online but cannot find it. I've seen it myself, a friend works in a Catholic...

The curious case of John 5:4

There are many fundamentalists in Protestantism that take the ENTIRE bible literally. They labor to explain what the four corners of the earth means since the earth is not a square. They'll argue endlessly that the earth was created 6,000 years ago and in 6 days, and then God, being tired...

Why do you believe that, after death, it's too late for Jesus to save people?

Well, then NotTheRock.... Looks like very few persons know Him, doesn't it? And, yes, God is a God of love.... unfortunately for those that believe as you do... He is also a JUST GOD. If you know what JUST means,,,, then you'd realize that your doctrine it unattainable and unbiblical. YOU...

Why do you believe that, after death, it's too late for Jesus to save people?

Hi RedFan, What is your understanding of John 5:28-29 I use these verses a lot when discussing good works. Some feel that good works are either: not necessary or they are a result of salvation. Jesus spoke about salvation maybe 2 or 3 times, but He spoke a great deal about the Kingdom of God...

The curious case of John 5:4

Not specifically answering to the above re the CC. Just want to say that I don't believe Catholics have the problem that the OP is presenting regarding the questioning student. Catholics do not believe all of the bible is literal.... It's actually easier for them to explain away some verses...

Why do you believe that, after death, it's too late for Jesus to save people?

That's very nice of you.... after 3 pages of responding to you USING SCRIPTURE and common sense. Guess you're not up to the task.... So why start a thread on a topic you're UNABLE to handle?? And why be so afraid of what the NT ACTUALLY STATES if you're a believer in Jesus?? :balloons:

The curious case of John 5:4

Oh,,, I think I missed the Muslim post or I can't remember it. I gather the Muslim person destroyed the bible. Interesting, since the Qu'ran is currently under inspection from non-other than Muslim theologians... Islam is also being questioned - as to who wrote the pages and when. I'd just tell...
