22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

I know nothing about a "National Ethnic Israel" in the scriptures. I'm not sure what that means, so I obviously don't hold a belief about it one way or the other. Honestly I'm also ignorant as to what the "Remnant Elect Church" means either. I think all of Romans chapters 9 through 11 are part...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

I totally trust you about the dictionary definition of "spiritualize" so I'll not use that word any more to describe what I'm trying to say. This is what I was thinking about when I said "spiritualize": Gnosis. "Gnosis" is a special, mystical kind of knowledge to which the Gnostics claimed to...

Interesting take on things. I'll give you that.:)

I don't know. You seem to want to tell me, so go ahead and tell me.

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

So the secret God kept secret until He revealed it to Paul was actually revealed to Matthew before Paul? How do you know the "nation" in Matt 21:43 is the church?

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

God lied to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and many others? You seriously don't see anything in the OT about a kingdom headed up by a righteous king?

You disagree about a specific date or Romans 11:25?

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Well, if Genesis 3:15 were the ONLY verse that talked about Jesus, it would be highly unlikely we'd know it was about him. The only reason we know it was about him is because of tons of other verses that make it clear. All we need is a bit of logic and common sense to see that. No need for...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

I don't know a specific date, but there is this: Rom 11:25, For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. God basically hit the...

What do you see when you look in a mirror? Flesh or spirit?

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

A few times now, I've mentioned the mystery that God kept secret until he revealed it to Paul. Paul talked about something radically different than the OT. Paul talks to Christians. The Kingdom was promised to Israel. Of course if times and peoples are mixed together, it wouldn't matter. But...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

By spiritualizing scripture I meant looking for the "hidden" meaning that only the "initiated" can understand. That's the essence of Gnosticism. Genesis 3:15 is a figure of speech, metonomy. In this case, "seed" stands in for the product of that seed, i.e. Jesus, which we learn to be the case...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Kind of an odd question, but you probably misunderstood me. No, I can't walk through doors just yet. But later, when Jesus gathers us together in the air, yes. 1Thess 4:16-17, 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Honestly, off the top of my head, I don't think it is in the NT. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. It is however mentioned many times in the OT, including the gospels, which are actually still part of the OT. What we call the NT didn't begin until Pentecost. That's when things took a major...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Is Jesus literal or spiritual? I take him to be a real, actual, flesh and blood guy. I guess that would make him literal. At least that's how I'd take it. Gen 3:15 is talking Jesus. In fact all of the OT is about Jesus (John 5:39).

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Just because I have a sin nature, doesn't mean I have to dwell on it or even think much about it at all. God looks at our perfect spirit so He thinks we're just wonderful. Doesn't mean He doesn't know we are flesh (He brings that very truth up not infrequently), but he thinks so much of us He...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Ahhh...the old Gnostic ideas are rising up. They liked to spiritualize otherwise simple verses. They came up with some pretty far out concepts by doing that. I'd avoid it, but that's just me. :)

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Good verses for sure. But I'm afraid you are mixing up times and peoples. Colossians was written to the church, to Christians (Col 1:2) and that kingdom is a present reality. The kingdom God promise Israel is not the same kingdom. As I've pointed out many times, the kingdom God promised Israel...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Rom 5:9, Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 1 Thess 1:10, And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. 1 Thess 5:9, For God hath not appointed us to wrath...
