    Objections to Sola Scriptura

And guess what: even considering those LDS Christians aren’t Sola Scripura proclaimers. God Himself is the Alpha and Omega. Not any book of scripture (Bible, Book of Mormon, etc). He speak, He guides understanding, etc. He is the author and finisher of faith.

    Objections to Sola Scriptura

Actually it’s holding God Himself above all others. That’s not an insult to the Bible or other texts. Just remembering that God comes before & above all else.

    Objections to Sola Scriptura

Part of the reason I’m not a Protestant is because I can’t accept Sola Scriptura. The Bible is God’s words, yes. But it’s not a letter from a dead man—- God still lives and I firmly believe He still speaks!! God Himself is the first and last of everything. If I need help understanding...

    Romans 10:12-21 (Encouragement Video)

The Book of Mormon is not the Bible nor a replacement for it. Rather it’s viewed as a sister. The Bible “Mormons” use is the KJV. This week’s study is on Esther.

    Romans 10:12-21 (Encouragement Video)

The “Mormon” Bible is the KJV. And also 100% agree that arguing translations is not productive, and that salvation comes from faith in Christ.

    Marriage without Marriage certificate?

To me: what you are describing above (ceremony, commitment, witnesses, etc) is the legal component of marriage for that culture.

Jesus left us with the assignment to make disciples,

The Bible shows true loving your neighbor. In the parable of the Good Samaritan, the people of the existing religious structure (so in your modern equivalent that'll be a JW Elder and Publisher) do not help the injured man. Instead it is a man scorned by the existing religious structure (so in...

    Marriage without Marriage certificate?

Adam and Eve were 100% married according to their legal customs. It’s at the ones they made, following God’s guidance (same with rest of life until until the fall). The government does not make marriage, hence the government’s state (pure/corrupt/etc) does not effect marriage. By observing...

    Marriage without Marriage certificate?

Marriage includes the spiritual, social, and physical, legal side of things. You shouldn’t skimp on any of those. In societies where paper/reading was uncommon, there still were legal custom for people getting married. Particulars of customs vary but they do always exist.

Jesus left us with the assignment to make disciples,

That's a foundational issue: you're preaching at people Robert. You don't know them, let alone love them. And without that love, it doesn't matter what you say or how many Bible verses you quote or if you were to literally speaking with the tongue of angels: you don't love. Loving requires...

    Questions For JW's

I totally acknowledge a person's choice to celebrate (or not celebrate) whichever holidays they choose. I do have problems when X choose's to judge Y and unceasingly persecute/prosetytize-at them for that choice. Here's some of the things I've had JW lectures about being evil and "unBiblical"...

    Questions For JW's

Aunty, I have treated you and the other JW on here with respect and kindness, despite my passionate disagreement with the theology and frankly horrible experiences in Kingdom Halls. My sharing those experiences a moment of vulnerability and I strive to do so as kindly as possible. You have...

    Questions For JW's

I’d love to hear which part of reading scriptures, acting it out, and singing “Silent Night” is supposedly pagan.

    Questions For JW's

I strive to be polite and loving to everyone, including those I disagree with. That's what my Lord & Savior asks of me. :)

    Questions For JW's

People have different experiences. My point is that not all disagreement is due to ignorance. I spent months at Kindgom Halls / with JW persons, earnestly trying to see goodness. I spend time studying others faiths so I can better understand and love my neighbors. And it almost always is a very...

    Questions For JW's

I cannot fully answer that and still be polite. To keep things very short: I was treated like a piece of meat, my request to not be proselytized at were violated countless times, listened to tons of stereotypes against all non-JW, manipulation tactics, and death threats ("stay on the boat"...

    Questions For JW's

I totally acknowledge that there is a lot of bashing people do out of pure ignorance. I’m a HUGE proponent of seeing people as they are and spending the time to know and love them. But it is also flavor to assume that just because a person disagrees that they are ignorant. My passionate...

    Questions For JW's

Note: speaking personally, not everyone who disagrees with JW beliefs/culture does so out of ignorance nor experience.
