SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

Every scholar knows and understands this self-evident fact, but the people here aren't well read. Romans 2:17 You call yourself a Jew Romans 4:1 Abraham our forefather according to the flesh Romans 7:1 Brothers (for I speak to those who know the Law), From chapter 2 through chapter 11, Paul is...

SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

Also, yes, God saves us by grace through faith, but that salvation is comparable to the Jews' from Egypt--after having been saved, they sinned, so they fell under God's wrath and didn't inherit the Promise, and this happened to them to warn us what will happen to us if we also live in sin after...

Which bible teachings do you think are made up by the church or true teachings of the bible?

Everything the Bible says comes from the Holy Spirit, every spirit that contradicts the Holy Spirit ("Has God said...?") is from an unholy desire. Simple.

SALVATION: BY GRACE OR BY WORKS? A FALSE DICHOTOMY

The confusion between salvation by faith or salvation by works seems, to me, to be resolved in the statements 1. "God's righteousness is revealed from faith to faith" (Ro 1:17), 2. "let every man be fully convinced in his own mind" (Ro 14:5) 3. "whatever is not of faith is sin" (Ro 14:23)...

Are the Jews Jealous of Christians' Salvation?

I've heard some Jews who eventually believed were jealous that they could sense the presence of God with the Christians very strongly all of the time, but only very faintly with the Jews, and only on the high holy day (Yom Kippur).

Whosoever is born of God DOTH NOT COMMIT sin. Really?

LOL YOU were the one who was correcting someone else for saying we were Christ's children!

Whosoever is born of God DOTH NOT COMMIT sin. Really?

I have read that adoption worked differently back in ancient Rome--ie, it was one's own children that one "adopted" when they came of age.

Balancing Justification and Eternal Life By Faith Alone vs By Works of Faith

Please stop being rude. There will be no discussion of your extra-Biblical ideas. They are nowhere explicitly stated, so I'm not interested. You will not hijack this thread and make it about yourself by making it about your personal ideas. Love is not rude. Stop being rude.

Whosoever is born of God DOTH NOT COMMIT sin. Really?

Lol I'm sorry! How so? He truly had flesh, I am not doubting or debating that. He just didn't have sinful flesh, He had flesh without that, sorta like Adam and Eve had had before the fall.

Whosoever is born of God DOTH NOT COMMIT sin. Really?

We are referred to as Christ's offspring in Isaiah 53. Perhaps relevant: The Jews say, based on a verse in the Law, that one's disciples are accounted as one's children. But, it is a little confusing, because those of us in Christ are sons of God the Father, and, yes, it does say we are Christ's...

I'm reposting earlier posts, because they are being buried by users wrangling about wanting to import extra-Biblical ideas to the discussion.

Balancing Justification and Eternal Life By Faith Alone vs By Works of Faith

Actually, I am merely limiting the discussion to the Scriptures--nowhere does the NT teach "early rain" and "latter rain" ideas. I just want to discuss the words of the NT. Those words are plenty difficult to understand, as Peter says, so I'm not going to add to that difficulty by importing...

Balancing Justification and Eternal Life By Faith Alone vs By Works of Faith

Please do not be disorderly. There will be no discussion on your "early rain" idea. That is not the topic. It is off topic.

Balancing Justification and Eternal Life By Faith Alone vs By Works of Faith

The Apostles don't mention it, so it's not necessary to understand their teachings. Again, you are free to start your own thread, since you are interested in discussing your own ideas.

There will be no discussion of "early rain" in this thread. I encourage you to start your own thread on the topic.

Balancing Justification and Eternal Life By Faith Alone vs By Works of Faith

Yes, it is not relevant. I have raised the Scriptures I consider relevant to the topic, you may interact with them if you wish to engage me in discussion on the topic I have raised. If you wish to discuss your topic of "early rain and latter rain", I encourage you to start a thread on it.

Whosoever is born of God DOTH NOT COMMIT sin. Really?

I'm glad you noted the context--the issue is hardness and softness of the heart, it is not related to "flesh" as used by Paul in the NT, but to the issue of how a heart can be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin (Hb 3:12,13) versus "a good and honest heart" that receives the Word and bears...

Judgment of believers is not complete until Christ returns (Ro 2:6-16).
