    Grace vs Legalism

I said that You said: So I said that my faith does not depend on my walk. Rather, my walk depends on my faith. So then, if my walk is not necessarily up to par, it is not going to affect my faith. So, my status as a born again believer is not dependent on my practical walk. My...

    Grace vs Legalism

So it is a matter of making your calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10). Making sure that you are not a Luke 8:13 believer but a Romans 10:10, John 6:47 believer.

1Jo 5:18, We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

What about in the case of the Luke 8:13 believer?

Faith is not dependent on my walk.

    Grace vs Legalism

It is dependent on my faith. However, my faith isn't dependent on me. It is a gift of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:9) and a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). So, it is instilled within me for as long as I have the Spirit. And I am also sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14, 2...

    Grace vs Legalism

There is the issue of the fact that we are not under the law (Romans 6:14), are dead to the law (Romans 7:4, Galatians 2:19), and are delivered from the law (Romans 7:6) as believers; and therefore sin is not imputed to us (Romans 4:8, Romans 5:13). So, my status as being born of God does not...

    Grace vs Legalism

Yes, I believe that my continuing in the faith is partially dependent on me (1 Peter 1:3, 1 John 5:18).

    Grace vs Legalism

But, are you saying that the believers in Luke 8:13 didn't trust in Jesus then? And if they did, what differentiates you from them?

Christians and the Law of Moses

Yes, our justification is by faith. It is in this order: faith --> justification --> obedience. We receive the Holy Spirit by faith (Galatians 3:14) and the love of God through the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). This love is practical (1 John 3:17-18) and is the fulfilling of the righteousness of...

    Jesus isn't Catholic

If I am truly born of God through faith in Jesus Christ, I will not decide to not believe later. Faith is sealed in me as the Holy Spirit has sealed me.

    Jesus isn't Catholic

Consider 2 Corinthians 6:2. Now is the accepted time for you to be saved... Whether you were saved 20 years ago and read this today, or were saved today and read this 20 years from now... In the moment that you read it, the acceptable time for you to be saved is the "now" of that very moment...

    Grace vs Legalism

To be reborn, one must repent and receive the remission of sins (through baptism in Jesus' Name?). Remission being, as with a cancer, being put out of commission so that it is no longer dangerous to the body.

    Grace vs Legalism

In Romans 6:7 (kjv), he that is dead is freed from sin.

    Grace vs Legalism

I have a similar question for you. If someone has faith and is not saved by it (as in the case of Luke 8:13 in your estimation), how do we know that we are saved? Because obviously we might not be saved even though we have faith. I will try to answer more of your question below.

    Grace vs Legalism

Hi @marks, I do believe that we are kept by the power of God through faith (1 Peter 1:5) and that those who are begotten of God (1 Peter 1:3) do keep themselves (1 John 5:18). But there is also a sense in which the Lord keeps us; because faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)...

    Grace vs Legalism

If justification and rebirth are the same, then all those who are justified by faith will never sin again (1 John 3:9).

How have I refused your question? I believe that I have answered it.

    Grace vs Legalism

Jesus is keeping me saved, because I remain connected to (am abiding in) Him. His blood continues to sanctify me (Hebrews 13:12, Hebrews 10:29) and to cleanse me (1 John 1:7). He keeps me saved through my connection to Him. Because I abide in Him, I do not sin (1 John 3:6). And I can abide...

    Grace vs Legalism

I believe that it is heresy to teach that a man is still saved after falling away from faith. But I am interested in your take on it and what biblical justification you might have for your pov.
