Not Under Law, But Under Grace

    Yup perfect

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

He mentions "do not covet" (Ro 7:7), so, yes, "the big 10".

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yes! Romans 8:3 ...the Law, weakened through the flesh... Galatians 3:3 ...being perfected by the flesh? Turning to the Law is turning to the flesh, because It is for those who are in the flesh, and shows them their sin so they cry for a deliverer from their slavery--it isn't for those in Christ.

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Amen! The flesh and the Law are inseparable (Ro 7:1-6, 8:3; Gal 3:3)--but the flesh is evil--so turning to the Law is turning to the flesh. That's the problem with the Law.

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Or even if not explicitly "under Law" (bc it's not as though all those you describe are trying to obey Moses), it's just as bad, because they nevertheless do not have the grace intended.

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

I really see this as important : boasting in Christ, no confidence in flesh, because your boast is what you have confidence in.

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

God gave Christ as the New Covenant, "Not like the Covenant I made with your fathers", so how can we fulfill the New Covenant obligations if we're not looking in to the simplicity of devotion to the New Covenant, Christ, but are, instead, led astray and away from Him Who called us by a false...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yup, not our own righteousness from the Law, but God's apart from the Law, yet God's righteousness apart from the Law still fulfills the righteous requirement of the Law is us (Ro 8:4), and we will be justified in the future judgment of works (Ro 2:6-16) if that is how we serve and please God...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yeah, it's sad, bc "the Commandments are good and holy and spiritual", so people say "You must do them!", and they are right that we must do them, and, yet, it's a trap because they don't go far enough--they don't admit "there is no good in me" (from which I might bring forth "good" to satisfy...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Spot on! "...not like the Covenant I made with your fathers..." : "I will put My Spirit on you and cause you to walk in My Statutes", "serve not in the oldness of the letter but in newness of the Spirit", "it is God at work in you to will and to do for His pleasure". If people are pleasing Him...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yup, Gentile believers who don't have or know Torah (Ro 2:14, 7:1) are deemed "doers of the Law" (Ro 2:6-16, 26, 27) bc the New Covenant is that God puts His Spirit in believers and causes them to walk in His statutes (Ezekiel), as "God Is Our Righteousness" (Jer 23:6) "apart from the Law" (Ro...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

If you want to disagree with something I've said, please use the quote feature--as it is, I can't tell what you're differing with, since what I said was the righteousness requirement of the Law is fulfilled in us when we walk by the spirit (Ro 8:4), bc we bear the fruit thereof (Gal 5), against...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Thanks for sharing. I agree with the jist of what you're saying--it's good we share to help equip everyone with answers to objections that might otherwise trip people up.

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Peter walked as though he was under Law when he was first saved and filled with the Spirit, and, through time, God revealed the actual truth on some matters to him in a vision. Had God rejected him before he was granted the actual understanding of the truth of the Gospel? No, of course not...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Yeah, and Jesus says it is pride, "Of the evil one", to make a vow--you have no answer for that nor for any single thing I've stated. As far as "faith" and "obedient action" : show me ONE time I denied that. Your problem comes when you conclude we are all under Law. Romans 14 completely...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

"Making claims" isn't a "charge", as if it's negative, it's literally what everyone here is doing. Just because someone makes "claims" doesn't mean they're wrong--claims can be correct or incorrect. A claim is not automatically an "error"--and, no, I didn't make a single error. Paul literally...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

God gave the Law to men "when we were without strength", as it is given "for the unrighteous, to murderers, etc" (1 Ti 1:9). Why are they unrighteous? Because of their nature. When men are born of God, when they are in Christ, they have a new nature. Paul refers to "God's righteousness apart...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

Please forgive me for being rough, but I do get upset when I'm misrepresented--yes, I agree we keep God's commandments, of course, yes, but it's not because we're under our own power, but because we're under God's power. I hope I'm being clear. Yes, we are to keep God's commandments, but it's by...

Not Under Law, But Under Grace

When you share broad swaths of information, and you don't quote specific claims you want to disagree with / disprove, you put your work you did not do on me : please quote what you want to debunk, and answer it. Also, you "responded" by saying "we do have to keep God's moral laws of conduct"...
