John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

You took my "easy as pie" totally out of context. I'll try that with your post: "The logos is God Himself, more specifically, the Son of God (Who is also the Son of Man), Who shares fully in the one divine essence...Such would be the very antithesis of logic." There you go. Just like that...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Very good points. I was thinking of Joseph and how he was second in command to Pharaoh. Joseph's words were as if Pharaoh himself said them. The only thing Pharaoh had over Joseph was the throne. Does that remind you of somebody else in the Bible? :) 1 Cor 15:28, And when all things shall be...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Logos is certainly translated in many different ways, but 80% of them are "say," "saying," or "words" which is a pretty good indication of its basic meaning. The majority of the rest are pretty close to those three meanings. Since logos is a word that really hasn't been used for many centuries...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

And we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2:16, For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. I'm guessing you wouldn't think we are actually Christ because we have the mind of Christ. So why would Jesus having the mind of his Father make him...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Hello Brother. Context. You forgot the rest of the chapter. It changes everything. The previous verses were talking about the princes of this world not knowing anything about God. The rest of the chapter is talking about born again believers and it's quite a different story for them. We can know...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

The part I like best is, "WAIT, THERE'S MORE:" As if that which proceeded wasn't enough to send condemn me to 10,000 deaths! :)

Sure, just go full blown Gnostic. Learn the "secrets" and all is well! :)

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I'm thinking that being one does not actually make two or more people somehow one person. Otherwise how would you explain all of us also being one? I think you're a great guy and all, but I do like being myself! I think there are better explanations for what it means when two or more people are...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Yes, most of the verses they use to "prove" the trinity say nothing of the sort. They take a section where Jesus is talking to his Father and make it out to be God talking to Himself. They really like John. Well, not quite all of it. They don't like John 20:31 where John gives his purpose in...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I've read "How Jesus Became God." Very good book, but most non-scholarly trinitarians dismiss history as though it has no bearing on anything. Denial, denial, denial...! Of course history does not determine truth, but there's no reason it can't help verify the truth. Trinitarians don't mind...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

The scriptures make sense when we understand that a son can not be his own father. It's mind boggling how the trinity gained so much traction in the church. Jesus is the son of God. That's easy to understand. Jesus being the son of God and God makes 0 sense.

The plain, simple, easy to comprehend truth.

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

First you try to tell me we can't comprehend God. I show you a couple of verses that say we can comprehend God. Instead of humbling yourself in the face of scripture and considering that maybe you're the one who has been deceived, that we actually are quite capable of comprehending God, you just...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

That doesn't say Jesus is God. It says God dwelt in Jesus. Eph 3:19, And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Like Colossians, this doesn't say we are God. It says God dwells in us. "His name shall be called" is not at all...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

John 1 says the "word" was in the beginning, was with God, was God, and became flesh. The word "Word" is the Greek word "logos" and the 1st century reader of John would have understood what it means. Suffice it to say it didn't mean "Jesus" to them. Do some research on logos. Jesus said more...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

I quoted a couple of very straight forward verses that say only the Father is God. I can understand that perfectly fine. Very simple declaration. Trying to make Jesus, who is NOT the Father, is why the church has to say God is too big to comprehend. But the scriptures themselves declare...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

How does all of that fit with: John 17:3, And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 1 Cor 8:6, But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are]...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

No Mormon, JW, or any thing like that. I just read 1 Cor 8:6 and John 17:3 and take them to say that the only true God is the Father. Is Jesus the Father? No. Then he's not the one true God.
