John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Amen to that brother! I am sorry for anybody who I may have offended and ask their forgiveness. On the flip side, I forgive anyone who I think may have offend me, so no love lost there. As sons and daughters of God, you guys are all great in my eyes!

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Well, the scriptures weren't given by God last year in New York or LA. They scriptures were written thousands of years ago to a Middle Eastern people who had a radically different worldview than our own. He spoke in their terms, not ours. That's why Genesis doesn't go into atoms and the...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I just looked up "unicorn" in the KJV. It's used 6 times and just means "wild bull." That's how the Jews used the word anyway. We can't always go by our modern Western meaning of words. Sometime we have to dig into things. In this case, I just looked it up in Strong's concordance. But I suppose...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I don't believe Jesus is God. You do. But that makes no trouble for me to have fellowship with anybody who loves God and loves Jesus! If you're willing, so am I. :) But you're right though. Too often it does get in the way of Christians loving one another.

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Which version are you quoting? I have many versions and don't see any with the word "essence." Not saying your version doesn't have it, just wondering which version it is. In Job the word in your version translated as "essence" is ",מצא mâtsâ" It is used more than 400 times and in most...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

If Jesus were only a different being than God and both are God, then there are two Gods. That was a huge problem for the early Trinitarians. To solve it, they introduced the Gnostic term "essence" into the equation. They said God and Jesus are two beings with one essence. To quote Ayn Rand...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I'm not sure, but I think you are saying there is more than one God. I don't know how else to take, "there is more than ONE in John 1:1 who is God." If that is in fact what you are saying, no I don't agree with that at all. Check out the word "with" in John 1:1b. It is the Greek word "pros" and...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

What is a god? Specifically, what did the Ancient Near Eastern Jewish people thing it means? I stand corrected on that, you didn't say they are the same person. I suspect you might say they are 2 persons with one essence. Is that right? That is a concept borrowed from Gnosticism used in an...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I think we are in agreement way more than disagreement. I can see your heart for God and I know that I have a heart for God also. There will always be disagreements on scriptural matters. Let's face it, it's an incredibly deep subject, so no wonder we don't agree on every little jot and tittle...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

You keep saying Jesus is speaking, "in the form of man." The scriptures actually say that he always said only what his Father told him to say. There is nothing about him speaking, "in the form of a man" or of him speaking in the form of anything for that matter. God told Jesus to say that he has...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

What did I say that the linguistic experts don't say? I'll reiterate what I said; John 1:1c is correctly translated as, "...and the Word (Greek "logos") was God." That's exactly what all the linguistic experts that Kermos quoted said. What did you think I wrote? I didn't write, "...and the word...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Good point about Israel. I never thought about that, but there it is. It's been there for a few thousand years now! Thanks.

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I never said, "...the logos was a God." I read it exactly as written, "...the logos was God." Very simple declaration. Logos is another name for God, specifically Yahweh. Jesus is not Yahweh. A couple of your own references: A. T. Robertson: "So in John 1:1 theos en ho logos the meaning has to...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

God was in Christ (2 Cor 5:19) just as Christ is in us (Col 1:27). Wherever you are, it is God in Christ in you there also. In other words, it could also be said of any Christian that wherever they are it is, "God with us."

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I can see John saying, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." What I don't see is, "In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God" I also don't see, "...and Jesus became flesh" in John 1:14. I took the time and effort to learn...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

It must make Trinitarians wonder who God's Father is! Then there's the times the scriptures talks about the God of Jesus, pretty much in all of the salutations of Paul's epistles. Jesus even mention his God a few other times. He even says it's the same God we all have. So you gotta wonder who...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

How does the context change the simple declarations that both Jesus and Paul made, saying that the Father is the only true God? Perhaps you could address some of the remote context I mentioned a while ago that totally agree with Jesus not being God. Remember, God knew things Jesus didn't know...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

I hardly said anything. I just quoted a few scriptures. Israel is not our father. That would be Abraham. Rom 4:11, And he (Abraham) received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which [he had yet] being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

If you want to stick with that, then I'm afraid that you have to accept that you don't believe Jesus nor Paul, because both said in grade school reading level that the Father is the only true God. As you correctly said, Jesus is not the Father, so he can't be God. John 17:3, And this is life...

John 1:1 - Jesus is the Father or he's not the one true God?

Not sure what you are asking about the Gnostic pendulum. Perhaps I should have been more clear, but I'm not talking about human logic. I was trying to say that God Himself is the epitome of logic. In fact I see no human logic whatsoever in the Bible.
