How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

"receiving" it means we have received it from God, therefore the glory belongs to Him. Simple. It is not of our own, therefore the glory does not belong to us. All glory belongs to Him. If anyone is taking credit and glory for things received from God they are robbing God of the glory that...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

I think the field is the temple of our body/soul......our spirit/heart has been redeemed (inner man), and the pearl (treasure) was placed in our earthen vessel, which became God's temple. We are awaiting the redemption of our body/soul when Christ returns and that is what we're paying the price...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Johann is pointing to Jesus Christ as the Tree of Life who is MADE UNTO US WISDOM and knowledge and redemption and discerment and just everything that we need. Yes, by His Spirit.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

This is a hard thing to explain, but let's consider Solomon, how for all his wisdom and knowledge still chose evil. Apparently his knowledge didn't keep him from falling. I think of how scripture says knowledge puffs up...it feeds pride. And we can easily see how it divides. Also considering...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Jesus was in the form of God but left it behind to be found in the form of a servant. He was wholly submitted to the Father and didn't stray out of God's will for Him. It even says He only ever did what He saw the Father doing. And though He could have asked the Father to send angels to...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Totally agree that rabbit holes lead to DEAD ends, yes! There is no repairing of the breach between heaven and hell, no. That's why it says that gulf is FIXED. Jesus came only to repair the breach between God and man (and we could say between Jew and Gentile, though I doubt that's what that...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

We are meant to understand that this parable is talking about the end of their physical life on earth. That should be clear from what was said. "died and buried", "thou in thy lifetime received..". No need to go looking for rabbit trails sister.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Why is it assumed that I need persuading of that? Just because I don't agree with Epi's approach to the subject I suppose. My approach to going on to perfection just doesn't throw out the foundation that Christ has laid.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Jesus was showing that after one dies it's too late...there is no bridge between heaven and hell. Appointed unto man but once to die and then the judgment.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

David's tabernacle was not a Temple. And also that verse is talking about rebuilding David's dynasty, according to what the Lord had promised, ie, having a son/descendant of his back on the throne of Israel.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Well it was too late for the rich man to be reconciled to God after he had died, I'm afraid. I'm not going down your rabbit trails sister. Been there done that and discovered Jesus wasn't in it. We are to take our thoughts CAPTIVE to the obedience of Christ. Not go beyond what is written...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

? My goodness, let's not overthink this. This is after the rich man (and Lazarus) had died. Don't think there's any coming back from where they ended up when they died, hence the warning that we better get our hearts right with God in this life. The point of parables is always simple, and...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

David's tabernacle I believe, but you are going on to broader things that Jesus is not addressing in that particular story about lazarus and the rich man.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Yes, but don't forget there is also an entering in that is not by the one who is the gate.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Golly, is all that what Jesus was trying to teach with that parable? Well, yes, Jesus repairs the breach between God and man (through faith in Him), but that wasn't the point of that story about Lazarus and the rich man. I mean repairing the breach just isn't the lesson that it is illustrating.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Also says "Except ye become as little children...." . It is possible to overreach the Lord, I mean we sure can if we want to..... and that is a snare (pride).

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Just didn't know what he has to do with what me and Victory are discussing.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

I just didn't know what Epi had to do with this particular part of the conversation. I haven't been able to concentrate and keep up very well, but don't remember that he said anything about it.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

yes, the ministration of the Spirit......and by the Spirit Jesus and the apostles did faithfully warn and exhort. No need for quotation marks as if warn is a dirty word, when it is entirely biblical and kosher, not to mention necessary, under the new covenant. Think we should just receive the...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Why?...what is his interpretation of the parable of Lazarus and the rich man?
