Scripture is not the last word.

I agree. But you who believe that the words of Christ are written only on tablets, after He has said in those writings that His words are spirit, are a spirit against Him, not for Him.

Are You Saved Because You Believe OR Do You Believe Because You Are Saved?

Yes, just as if one were to come to know the complete truth of a matter, before knowing in part. Which, please do not misunderstand, is no compliment to him who receives such. For we know that God all the more greatly esteems those who believe by faith.

1 Corinthians 2 is so abused

Ironic. Sounds like you just wanted to argue.
  4. ScottA

Scripture is not the last word.

This is the mindset of those who killed the prophets and crucified Christ. Yea, such words even condemn Christ and the apostles. Woe to those who meet the Spirit with judgment and reservations!

THE APOSTLES DID NOT ALL PREACH THE SAME GOSPEL ***

Doug...you seem to have a penchant for calling this final chapter of what Jesus referred to as "all truth" as being its own gospel. Yet, by definition, being a part of "all truth" would only make it "a part", and not a separate gospel: "For now we see in part." I too would agree that Paul's...

What are your thoughts on end times fiction?

God has as much as engineered many steppingstones even through untruth (let alone fiction) leading to the actual truth. Also, what is a parable if not fiction, and yet is God's chosen form of communicating His truth by word? Indeed, the rabbit holes and tangents off the beaten path can lead one...

1 Corinthians 2 is so abused

You have some catching up to do... Much of what is written (including those things you quoted) were given to those who were of the flesh. But we, if we are in Christ and He in us, are not of the flesh and do not sin according to the scriptures, but are of the Spirit in whom there is no sin. 1...

    TWO GOSPELS PREACHED

Just as the scriptures and Paul explain, the truth (gospel) from God is "line upon line, precept upon precept" and one "laid the foundation, and another builds on it." Nonetheless, it is all one gospel.

1 Corinthians 2 is so abused

Except that it doesn't stop there. Not only was it to be taken also to every nation, Peter even declared that it was even available to those who crucified Christ, should they repent.

1 Corinthians 2 is so abused

This is true. What happened at Pentecost was not a closed meeting of Jesus and the 12, but open to as many as followed Him. It was also a foreshadowing and a mere example of the greater fulfillment of making disciples of all nations.

Scripture is not the last word.

This all quite telling and really sad. If I had named this thread The Last Word of All Truth Comes Via The Holy Spirit (meaning the same thing as the original post title), you scoffers would all be wrong and without recourse. But because I said it in other words, you have come out against the...

    The Upward Call of God

I don't see here where Paul is speaking in these passages, of "walking in newness of life" or speaking of "coming to live the resurrection life, walk so in it." But rather where you have asserted these ideas, he has instead clearly state that he looks forward to "death" that he too may "attain"...

1 Corinthians 2 is so abused

Oh, I just meant that whether it was the corner of a crowded room in a hurry, or a prison cell in shackles, God did His part to see him through.

    GOODBYE AMERICA

Sounds like you have a great perspective of things as they truly are, and your heart is in the right place. David too was a man of peace, but took on the giants. Blessed are the brokenhearted!

1 Corinthians 2 is so abused

Perhaps, but he also sang hymns during earth quakes.

1 Corinthians 2 is so abused

No, there is no contradiction. You are not fully factoring in God. What nasty sex sinners...you mean him calling sin sin? There is nothing wrong in that. And women...are you kidding, that's ridiculous. Have you not considered Lydia, among others? And women being silent in church is only about...

1 Corinthians 2 is so abused

He didn't exactly bypass them, he pressed on, realizing that others had laid the foundation that he must build upon...the old men, and the new.
  18. ScottA

Scripture is not the last word.

Okay, it is confirmed then. No excuse.

So how are we seeing right now?

Because Jesus (the Bread come down from heaven) has come in the flesh and also gone to the Father in spirit, there is no more face to face in the flesh. It is finished. So then, as Paul explained his own experience as not being face to face but with Christ who had risen in the spirit, even one...

Is 1 Thes 4:17 the same event as Rev 1:7 and Matt 24:27?

It all depends on how you mean that, in what context. If we consider the number of times, many will consider it only from their own perspective, naming the appearance of Jesus at His first coming, and then also according to their own interpretation and how it is written. But in that context we...
