Walk in the Light and be cleansed of all sin.
John 8
[12] Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
1 John 1
[6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
GINOLJC to all.
this is on target, but needs a little rudder action for a complete stay on course. 1John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us". so, lets just tell the truth. now, the very next verse, 1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
for even the apostle struggle with his sins,
Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Rom 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Rom 7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Rom 7:17
Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (
that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members,
warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am!
who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
ok, he told us what to do about our flesh.
Rom 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more;
death hath no more dominion over him.
Rom 6:10 For in that he died,
he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth,
he liveth unto God.
Rom 6:11
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 6:12
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin:
but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
the apostle Paul, and John just gave us the answer to overcoming sin, and the answer is in your mind.
understand "SIN" IS A HABIT, meaning , A WORK. for the wages of sin is death. work require "TIME", hence what you get paid for. no time no wages. if one give a habit no time, then there is "DEAD" works.
so the apostle paul gives us the answer, "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin". that word yield is the Greek term, G3936 παρίστημι paristemi (par-iy'-stee-miy) v.
παριστάνω paristano (par-iy-sta'-nō) [prolonged]
1. to stand beside.
2. (transitively) to exhibit, proffer.
3. (specially) recommend.
4. (figuratively) substantiate.
5. (intransitively) to be at hand (or ready), aid.
[from G3844 and G2476]
KJV:
assist, bring before, command, commend, give presently, present, prove, provide, shew, stand (before, by, here, up, with), yield
Root(s): G3844, G2476
see definition #1. and see how the KJV can translate the word, "assist". orther word don't do it, in today's language "just say no to drugs... I mean sin, just say no to ..... sin. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE THE HELPER, THE ONE WHO ASSIST US. it takes a made up mind, hence renew your mind". FOR,
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
WHY?
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do
mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit
the things of the Spirit.
RE-NEW your mind in Christ Jesus, put, or set your mind on the things of God and you will not have "TIME" for the things of sin.
this is the quick and short version to the point. just remember "MIND" and "TIME". they are the keys.
for all these Millenium, just think, "Hammertime", time to change our thinking.
