I don’t know what the technological answer to the problem is, or might be, but this is a spiritual / psychological problem the board staff and members are confronted with.

“Don’t feed the troll” remains the best short term solution. People who have difficulty with implementing it may find it necessary to use the ignore option. Moderators, in my experience, commonly recommend it.
